S.A. College of Arts & Science, conducted an impactful awareness program on Fire & Safety as part of National Fire Service Week 2025. The initiative, organized by the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), aimed to promote fire safety awareness and wellness among students and staff.
The program commenced at 12:00 pm on the 15th of April, 2025, at the SACAS campus. Officers from the Chennai Suburban District Fire Department served as trainers, providing hands-on demonstrations and expert insights into fire safety protocols, emergency response techniques, and preventive measures to handle fire-related hazards.
Students actively participated in the training sessions, which covered a wide range of essential topics including the use of fire extinguishers, evacuation drills, and first-aid practices during fire emergencies. The event also emphasized the importance of mental preparedness and staying calm under pressure, aligning with the wellness aspect of the training.
The initiative was a resounding success, reflecting SACAS’s commitment to holistic education that goes beyond academics. The college management appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers and Accounting & Finance department for organizing such a vital program that not only enhances safety awareness but also prepares students to act responsibly in times of crisis.

The Training and Placement Cell of SACAS organized an industrial visit for 25 students from B.Com (Accounting & Finance) to Brakes India on 15/03/2025. The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into cost control, and accounting practices within a manufacturing environment. Students were given a guided tour of the facility, where they observed the production process, inventory management. Experts from the company explained how they engage in production with safety measures followed by HR policies and cost analysis which plays a crucial role in the industry. The visit bridged the gap between academic concepts and real-world applications, enhancing students' understanding of corporate manufacturing process.

The event featured Mr. Venkataramanan, Senior Officer at Delphi TVS Technologies, as the keynote speaker.
The lecture aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the logistics sector, highlighting its crucial role in modern commerce and finance. Mr. Venkataramanan delved into key topics, including supply chain optimization, digital transformation in logistics, and the increasing demand for efficient transportation and warehousing solutions. S.A. College of Arts & Science Hosts Inspiring Guest Lecture on "Flora & Fauna" March 11, 2025: The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACAS’ians Fin.Tech Club, successfully hosted a guest lecture on "Flora & Fauna" at the SACAS Auditorium. The event, organized in partnership with SANS Animal Welfare Trust & Awareness India Movement, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty.
Eminent speakers Mrs. Sudha Chandrasekhar, Chairperson of SANS Animal Welfare Trust, and Mr. Vetrivel Kumaravel, Founder of Awareness India Movement, emphasized biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices. Their insights aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Climate Action, Life Below Water, and Life on Land.
The interactive session inspired students to engage in environmental initiatives, reinforcing SACAS’ commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility. The institution looks forward to more such impactful events in the future.
SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club, organized inter-collegiate anti-drug awareness campaign Detox on 19.02.2025
The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) at SACAS, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club, organized a remarkable inter-collegiate anti-drug awareness campaign, Detox, on February 19, 2025, at the SACAS campus. A total of nine colleges participated in the event, which aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. The campaign highlighted the detrimental impact of substance abuse on both mental and physical health while promoting healthier, drug-free lifestyles among students.
The campaign featured several thought-provoking segments, including expert guest speakers who shared invaluable insights on overcoming addiction. Notable speakers included Dr. A. Venkadesh Babu, IRS Deputy Commissioner; Ms. Preethi Indrani Kitchappan, Actress, Model, and Lawyer; and Mr. Asif Iraiyanban, Chief Minister Social Forum Board Member. These experts, along with specialists in addiction recovery and mental health, offered powerful messages on the importance of mental well-being and the dangers associated with substance abuse.
A variety of engaging events were conducted during Detox to encourage student participation. The street play performance was particularly impactful, as it vividly portrayed the consequences of drug abuse and the importance of prevention. Students also showcased their creativity through poster-making, expressing their thoughts and ideas on how to prevent drug misuse in society.
The Detox event not only successfully raised awareness but also provided valuable resources for combating addiction. It created a supportive environment that encouraged students to stay drug-free, fostering a culture of well-being and positivity on campus. The enthusiasm and energy exhibited throughout the event were a testament to the collective commitment of all those involved.
In an exciting conclusion to the event, the overall trophy was lifted by Apollo College of Arts & Science, securing the highest number of winnings across the different competitions held during Detox. Their outstanding participation and contributions were recognized and celebrated by all attendees.

SACAS Hosts Inter-Departmental Anti-Drug Awareness Event On 6th February 2025, the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club, organized an impactful inter-departmental event aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The event, titled *"Anti-Drugs (DETOX)"*, took place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the SACAS campus.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, who exhibited their talents through a variety of activities designed to educate and engage the audience on the importance of detoxification and staying drug-free. From creative performances to informative presentations, the students showcased a wide range of skills while spreading a powerful message against drug abuse.

Department of Accounting and Finance, in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC), organized a one-day guest lecture to celebrate National Startup Day. The event was held at the SACAS Preview Theater and was aimed at inspiring and educating students on the potential and challenges of startups and investments.
The distinguished guest speaker for the event, Mr. Jubran Siddique, provided students with valuable insights into the world of investments and startup ideation. His presentation was both informative and thought-provoking, covering essential aspects of launching and sustaining a startup, such as market research, risk management, funding opportunities, and the evolving trends in the entrepreneurial landscape.
Mr. Siddique’s expertise and real-world experiences helped to deepen students' understanding of the startup ecosystem. His session encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to think critically about innovative ideas and how to turn them into successful ventures.
In addition to Mr. Siddique’s lecture, he explained the real meaning of BIG which is B-Books all must read lots of books to gain knowledge, I- Individuals you meet, and G-Goals you keep, the event was interactive, with students actively sharing their thoughts and discussing their startup ideas. This collaborative session allowed students to gain feedback and suggestions on their ideas from both the guest speaker and their peers, creating a dynamic learning environment.

S.A. College of Arts & Science Hosts Seminar on Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities under NEP On January 8, 2025, the “Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities under NEP” seminar, organized by the School of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research - SRC (ICSSR-SRC), attracted widespread attention, receiving over 100 article submissions on its theme. The seminar aimed to address gender disparities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and align with India's Vision Viksit Bharat @ 2047, marking the 100th year of independence.
Focusing on the obstacles women face in STEM, such as gender bias, harassment, the glass ceiling, and work-life balance issues, the seminar sought to empower women to overcome these challenges and contribute to a more inclusive society under the National Education Policy (NEP). The seminar’s objectives included exploring the current status of women in STEM, identifying NEP opportunities, and proposing actionable recommendations for policymakers and educational institutions.
The event addressed key themes, including promoting gender equality in STEM education, enhancing leadership opportunities for women, and sharing national and international best practices.

Department of Accounting & Finance “WORLD MEDITATION DAY”On 20th December 2024, the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) with SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals along with SACAS’ians Fin-Tech club organized “World Meditation Day” program in association with "Indian Knowledge Systems" and “Heartfulness Education Trust” in the SACAS CG Lab at 9:00 am. The guests – Dr. R. Siva Kumar, Prof. A. Mallika, Dr. Balachander, 4 Faculty members, and 162 students- participated in the program. The programme commenced by explaining the origin of Yoga and it's importance in life and highlighting the practical sessions of the day – Basic Pranayam, Basic Yoga, followed by a Meditation session. The guests covered the outlines of the topics – Importance of skills, LPG, Leadership qualities (Troubleshooting & Decision making), Techniques to meditation along with setting an example of Abraham Lincoln, Heartfulness Meditation, Adaptation with setting examples of Mr. Rajaji & N.S. Krishnan, & Benefits of Heartfulness Meditation. The practical sessions such as the Yoga session by Dr. Balachander & Relaxation session by Dr. Mallika were conducted for 25 minutes. The program concluded with the guests sharing a video presentation on their Heartfulness Education Trust headquarters “Kanha Shanti Vanam” located at Hyderabad. Additionally, the students shared their experiences along with Essential skills needed today. The students claimed that the session was comfortable, relaxing & peace of mind. The staff also shared their feedback at the end of the program.
