In an effort to raise awareness about personal safety and the role of technology in ensuring security, the Citizen Consumer Club, in association with the P.G. Department of Commerce (General), organized an awareness session focusing on the Kavalan SOS App. The session aimed to equip female students with essential knowledge regarding the usage of the Kavalan SOS app, which is part of the safety initiative launched by the Tamil Nadu Government and the Police.

SACAS Student Development Program Equips Commerce Students for Professional Growth On 31st January 2025, The School of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a Student Development Program (SDP) – Professional Enhancement at the Preview Theatre. The session saw the participation of 130 students from the commerce stream.

The session was led by CMA, CPA G. Kumar, Director & Senior Transformation Catalyst – FINSPIRE Academy, a seasoned professional with 40 years of corporate experience, including 31 years in Oman. He emphasized the importance of professional qualifications like CMA and CPA, soft skills, career planning, and continuous learning for success in the finance industry.

The insightful session motivated students to set career goals and enhance their skills. The Commerce Association expressed gratitude to G. Kumar for his valuable guidance and looks forward to future knowledge-sharing events.

S.A. College of Arts & Science Hosts Seminar on Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities under NEP On January 8, 2025, the “Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities under NEP” seminar, organized by the School of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research - SRC (ICSSR-SRC), attracted widespread attention, receiving over 100 article submissions on its theme. The seminar aimed to address gender disparities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and align with India's Vision Viksit Bharat @ 2047, marking the 100th year of independence.

Focusing on the obstacles women face in STEM, such as gender bias, harassment, the glass ceiling, and work-life balance issues, the seminar sought to empower women to overcome these challenges and contribute to a more inclusive society under the National Education Policy (NEP). The seminar’s objectives included exploring the current status of women in STEM, identifying NEP opportunities, and proposing actionable recommendations for policymakers and educational institutions.

The event addressed key themes, including promoting gender equality in STEM education, enhancing leadership opportunities for women, and sharing national and international best practices.

An exceptional lineup of speakers shared valuable insights:

Dr. RameshBabu Boga, Managing Director of BogaR Laboratories LLC, USA, delivered the keynote address on the challenges and opportunities for women in STEM.

Ms. Jananee Jayakumar, State VP of the Karnataka Anti Sexual Harassment Council, spoke on work-life harmony.

Mr. Deepak, President of GUVI Geek Networks, discussed fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.

Ms. Ponniyinselvi K M, Senior Manager at Cognizant Technology Solutions, shared leadership strategies.

The seminar concluded with a valedictory address by Ms. Adhilakshmi Logamurthy, an accredited mediator and gender consultant.

The seminar's discussions focused on shaping policies that will support the growth of women in STEM careers.

The P.G. Department of Commerce (General) organized a two-day workshop on “Elevating the Art of Research and Publication: AI Tools and Techniques for Precision in Writing and Quality Publishing” on December 26th and 27th, 2024. The event, held in the CS Lab, was aimed at equipping faculty members with the latest tools and techniques to enhance the quality of their research and academic writing, ultimately improving the publication process. The workshop was conducted by Dr. E. Gayathiri, Assistant Professor at Guru Nanak College, who provided a comprehensive understanding of how artificial intelligence (AI) can be utilized to elevate academic productivity, precision, and overall quality in research publications.

The main objectives of the workshop were to introduce AI-powered tools to enhance academic writing, streamline research processes, and improve the overall quality of publication outputs. The event provided faculty members with practical knowledge of AI-driven tools for improving writing quality, managing citations, and structuring academic papers for submission to high-impact journals. Furthermore, the workshop aimed to enable more effective and efficient registration processes for conferences and academic submissions using AI technologies. By focusing on these areas, the workshop sought to foster a more streamlined and precise academic environment for faculty members, ultimately leading to higher standards of academic output and publication success.

The first day of the workshop began with a session introducing the role of AI in research and publication. Dr. Gayathiri discussed how AI is reshaping academic research, with a focus on tools that assist in literature reviews, data analysis, and identifying patterns in large datasets. The session highlighted AI tools like EndNote, a citation manager that uses AI to automate and enhance referencing, and Scrivener, which offers AI-driven suggestions for writing improvements. In the following session, Dr. Gayathiri introduced AI-based writing assistants such as Grammarly, ProWritingAid, and Hemingway Editor, which are designed to enhance writing quality, improve readability, and ensure error-free academic papers. These tools can be particularly useful for faculty members aiming to refine their drafts before submission to journals.

On the second day, the workshop continued with a session on structuring academic papers for publication success. Dr. Gayathiri provided valuable insights into best practices for manuscript preparation, including how AI can help with section organization and aligning papers with journal requirements. Tools like Ref-N-Write and Grammarly Premium were demonstrated, showcasing how they can aid in the refinement of academic papers. In the afternoon, participants learned how AI could optimize the peer review and publication processes. Tools like Overleaf and Paperpile were introduced, helping faculty members with manuscript submissions and peer review management. The final session focused on enabling an effective registration process for academic conferences and events, where tools like Eventbrite and Cvent were showcased to streamline event participation, paper submissions, and feedback collection.

The workshop successfully met its objectives by providing faculty with hands-on experience using AI tools that can improve the quality of their academic writing, enhance research efficiency, and streamline the publication process. The practical demonstrations and real-time applications allowed attendees to understand how AI can be integrated into their daily academic workflows. Faculty members were introduced to AI-driven tools that can assist in citation management, data analysis, and content editing, all of which contribute to more accurate and high-quality research outcomes.

The workshop concluded with positive feedback from the attendees, who expressed a greater understanding of how AI can be applied to enhance their research and academic publishing efforts. As a result, the P.G. Department of Commerce (General) is now better positioned to lead in AI-driven research initiatives, helping faculty members to produce high-quality academic work more efficiently. Dr. Gayathiri’s insights and the tools introduced during the event will have a lasting impact on faculty research, supporting their continued success in publishing high-impact academic papers.

P.G. Department of Commerce (General) successfully organized an inter-collegiate event titled "Gamification for Happy Learning." This unique event aimed to explore innovative methods of integrating gamification into learning environments to enhance student engagement, motivation, and overall educational experiences. The event attracted participants from various colleges and provided a platform for both theoretical insights and practical applications in the field of gamified education.The event featured a series of academic sessions, practical workshops, and discussions led by distinguished guests and experts in the field. The event also included moments of recognition and celebration, fostering an atmosphere of academic enthusiasm and collaboration.

Dr.G.Monika Head-Department of Computer science and applications, Jeppiaar College of Arts and Science, gave an resounding session on Gamification application of game based tools in various disciplines, Dr.L.Lavanya Principal Jeppiaar College of Arts and Science, gave an hands on training on incorporating game elements in teaching methodology, and shared her knowledge about various Gamification tools such as Kahoot, quiz.com, Duolingo, black box, mystery box etc ,

The Citizen Consumer Club, in association with the PG Department of Commerce (General), organized a thought-provoking guest lecture on Consumer Rights, featuring CMA, CS, Ln. Dr. V.N. Parthiban as the esteemed speaker. The event aimed to educate students and community members about their rights as consumers, emphasizing the importance of informed decision-making in today’s complex marketplace.

Dr. V.N. Parthiban delivered a comprehensive presentation that covered various critical aspects of consumer rights. He began by outlining the fundamental rights that every consumer should be aware of, including the right to safety, information, choice, and redress. He further elaborated on the legal frameworks in place, such as the Consumer Protection Act, that safeguard these rights. Dr. Parthiban highlighted the significance of being an informed consumer and the ways individuals can advocate for their rights in various situations.

The lecture also provided practical tips on how to effectively resolve consumer disputes and the role of consumer forums in promoting justice. The audience was engaged throughout the session, with participants encouraged to ask questions and share personal experiences related to consumer issues. Dr. Parthiban addressed these inquiries thoughtfully, offering practical insights and solutions.

The eighth session of the Feel Free aimed to inspire viewers by showcasing 12th fail movie that explore the theme of overcoming failure. The session was designed to highlight how setbacks can lead to personal growth, resilience, and eventual success.

This film portrays characters who face significant challenges, setbacks, or failures, ultimately leading to growth, resilience, and achievement.

In this session totally 18 students participated and with Staff members in SF 03.

The program was organized to provide participants with valuable insights of an interview during their placement and the benefits of it to enhance their personal as well as professional skills for their Professional development. PG Department Of Commerce (General) conducted  Freshers' day Celebration "Freshers Party" on 28/8/24 between 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m at SACAS Auditorium for Commerce Students. Boys dances, Karoge, Girls group dance were the highlight of the event. Coordinators taught Importantance of Gestural communication by Solo dance movements. Followed by influence message from Faculty and Senior Students. Day celebrated with full of joy and take of all the inhibitions of first year students to show unity of Commerce Department..


A Two Days International conference (sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) on 27.03.2024 & 28.03.2024

The International conference hosted by the School of Commerce, S.A. College of Arts & Science and sponsored by ICSSR on March, 27th & March 28th 2024  featured insightful technical panel discussions. On 27th March 2024  Mr. Libinus Xavier precisely elucidated the factors driving the rejuvenation of health tourism with AI, while Mr. J. Saravanan shared valuable insights into AI tools in digital marketing. Additionally, Mr. P. Rajkumar offered his understanding of how AI is shaping retail through insights into shopper behavior, and Dr. Malani Sathappan shared knowledge on the integration of AI in HR practices.On 28th March 2024 session continued the explanation  of with Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin exploring the dichotomy of AI in psychological security and Mr. Md. Akram Basha providing precise insights into using data & AI to solve business problems. Dr. K. Ravi then elucidated the various aspects of culture and AI, highlighting a paradigm shift, while Mr. Shunder Kumar expounded on the role of aggregators utilizing AI.
