The Department of Corporate Secretaryship and The Corporate Governance Professionals' Association organised the Farewell’ 25 for the third year students. The session commenced at 1:00 p.m., bringing together students and faculty for a memorable send-off. The event featured heartfelt speeches, nostalgic reflections, and moments of appreciation, making it a fitting tribute to the graduating class.

A special AV was prepared by the 1st and 2nd year students which was screened during the farewell session. The AV was dedicated to the 3rd year students, highlighting their journey, achievements, and memorable moments over the years. It featured heartfelt messages from professors, juniors, and friends, expressing gratitude and best wishes for their future endeavour.

The 2nd year students, Megavanan, Karthikeyan G and Hemanth JK captivated the audience with their hype and electrical dance performance. Dhivya Darshini and Abhitha from 2nd year and Janani from 1st year sang heartwarming songs that enlightened the atmosphere with their soulful melodies. The 2nd year boys created a compilation of memes dedicated to the 3rd year seniors and the faculty members, sparking laughs and giggles across the gathering.

The 3rd year students and faculty members exchanged heartfelt words, making the farewell an emotionally charged and unforgettable experience.

Several entertaining games were conducted, adding an element of fun and excitement to the event. The games were designed to engage both students and faculty, fostering a lively and interactive atmosphere.

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship and The Corporate Governance Professionals' Association organized its Department Day. The session started by 2: 00 pm with Invocation and lighting of the lamp. The event featured the chief guest CA R. Krishnamurthy, Risk and Compliance Evangelist, formerly associated with as GENERAL MANAGER @ WIPRO, VICE-PRESIDENT BPS @ TCS, MANAGING DIRECTOR @ CHEMOIL CORP.

Gayathri Priya and Divya Darshini, Council Representatives, captivated the audience with their graceful and enchanting classical dance performance. Following this, Vignesh P, General Secretary, along with Thenissai K, Council Representative, and Guna Seelan R, Manoj K, and Shalini R Y, mesmerized the gathering with their professional and exhilarating Corporate Walk performance.

During the celebration, a special audiovisual (AV) presentation dedicated to Department Day was screened. The AV provided a comprehensive overview of the remarkable achievements, hard work, and contributions of the department's students. It highlighted their academic excellence, extracurricular accomplishments, and collaborative efforts, showcasing the dedication and spirit that define the department.

Mrs. R. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor, presented the Annual Report of the department, offering a detailed account of its activities and accomplishments over the academic year 2024–2025. The report highlighted a comprehensive list of events organized by the department, the esteemed chief guests who graced the occasions, and the winners who excelled in various competitions along with the prestigious prizes they received. Additionally, it showcased remarkable student achievements, academic milestones, and other significant contributions.

The chief guest, CA R. Krishnamurthy, a Risk and Compliance Evangelist, formerly associated with Wipro as General Manager, TCS as Vice President - BPS, and Chemoil Corp as Managing Director, delivered a thoughtful and insightful guest lecture. His session provided students with valuable perspectives on risk evangelism, strategic thinking and planning, the significance of effective communication, decision-making, and excellence in emotional intelligence. He elaborated on the uncertainties associated with risk and various methodologies to manage them effectively. His expertise and practical insights enriched the students' understanding, encouraging them to develop a proactive approach to risk management and leadership in their respective fields. 

The alumni shared their diverse experiences from their respective corporate fields and professions, offering valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities they encountered. They inspired the students with their success stories, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, skill development, and adaptability in the professional world.


Department of Corporate Secretaryship is organizing SASCO 2024-25, an Inter-School Award Function on 25.01.2025

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship and The Corporate Governance Professionals' Association organised the Awards Distribution Ceremony of "SASCO 2024-2025", an Inter-School event aimed to bring out and nurture the talents of school students. 515 participantions were recieved in the event through online mode. Competitions were conducted under 12 different categories, inviting event submissions through online registration.

The session started by 2: 00 pm with the recital of Tamil Thai Vazhthu and lighting of the lamp.

The event featured three chief guests, Mr. K. R. Sathyan , Director of Sathyas Geethanjali School of Music, Dr. Vijayam Karthik, Founder and teacher in Vijayam Dance Academy and Miss. Neha Giri from Super Singer Season 8.

All the chief guests presented the gathering with incredible music and dance performances.

The chief guests also delivered inspirational and motivational speeches which gave an incredible morale boost to the students.

Students from the Department of Corporate Secretaryship performed various performances like songs, dance and skit to entertain he audience.

S.A. College of Arts & Science Hosts Seminar on Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities under NEP On January 8, 2025, the “Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities under NEP” seminar, organized by the School of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research - SRC (ICSSR-SRC), attracted widespread attention, receiving over 100 article submissions on its theme. The seminar aimed to address gender disparities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and align with India's Vision Viksit Bharat @ 2047, marking the 100th year of independence.

Focusing on the obstacles women face in STEM, such as gender bias, harassment, the glass ceiling, and work-life balance issues, the seminar sought to empower women to overcome these challenges and contribute to a more inclusive society under the National Education Policy (NEP). The seminar’s objectives included exploring the current status of women in STEM, identifying NEP opportunities, and proposing actionable recommendations for policymakers and educational institutions.

The event addressed key themes, including promoting gender equality in STEM education, enhancing leadership opportunities for women, and sharing national and international best practices.

An exceptional lineup of speakers shared valuable insights:

Dr. RameshBabu Boga, Managing Director of BogaR Laboratories LLC, USA, delivered the keynote address on the challenges and opportunities for women in STEM.

Ms. Jananee Jayakumar, State VP of the Karnataka Anti Sexual Harassment Council, spoke on work-life harmony.

Mr. Deepak, President of GUVI Geek Networks, discussed fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.

Ms. Ponniyinselvi K M, Senior Manager at Cognizant Technology Solutions, shared leadership strategies.

The seminar concluded with a valedictory address by Ms. Adhilakshmi Logamurthy, an accredited mediator and gender consultant.

The seminar's discussions focused on shaping policies that will support the growth of women in STEM careers.

The resource person for the session is Dr. Sreenivasan, NAAC Expert from Aasaan Educare, Chennai. He has given a detailed summary of all the 10 Criterions.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Department of Corporate Secretaryship of S.A. College of Arts and Science, in alias with TeachSub Techno Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Australia, organized a workshop titled "Relevance of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to Higher Education Institutions (HEI)" at the SACAS Auditorium. The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into higher education frameworks to address global challenges and foster sustainability by 2030.

The session featured two distinguished speakers. Mr. Henry Maris, CEO of MapSDG, shared insights on aligning institutional strategies with SDG principles. Dr. Mary Angeline, Principal of Nazareth College and NAAC Assessor, emphasized the role of higher education in promoting sustainability, focusing on curriculum development, research innovation, and administrative practices linked to SDGs.

The workshop highlighted institutional initiatives, particularly Goal 3 (Community Health and Well-being) and its sub-goals (3.2.1 and 3.2.2). Practical examples were shared on how higher education institutions can use tools like AI for SDG mapping and implement measurable impact metrics to enhance sustainable practices.

The discussions provided actionable frameworks for institutions to integrate SDGs into their operations, driving innovation and contributing to global sustainability goals. The workshop underscored the need for educational institutions to play a leading role in addressing pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the speakers and organizers. The session reinforced the importance of SDGs in higher education, inspiring institutions to actively align their strategies with global sustainability efforts.


Department of Corporate Secretaryship associated Anti-Narcotics Cell organising the ‘ Intra -Collegiate Competition on 08.10.2024

Corporate Governance Professionals’ Association under the aegis of The Department of Corporate Secretaryship in association with the Anti-Narcotics Cell of S.A. College of Arts and Science organised the “Collage Fusion Fest”, an intra-collegiate competition that focused on the motto of “Saying no to Drugs” and creating an awareness about “Anti-Narcotics”. A total of 22 students forming 11 teams from the departments of B.Com.(CS), B.Com.(BM), BBA, B.Com.(A&F), B.Com.(General), B.A. English and NFSM & D participated in the competition.

The competition commenced at 1:00 pm with all the teams presenting their collages which they had crafted with immense creativity and teamwork. The event convener, Ms. R. Vijayalakshmi, Assistant Professor of Department of Corporate Secretaryship, judged the collage presentations based on criteria such as creativity, fusion of element and thematic focus. All the winners were awarded certificates and medals. N. Lavan and E. Venkatesh from the Department of B.Com.(BM), first year won the third prize. U. Priya Dharshini and P. Sajni from the Department of BBA, third year won the second prize. R. Ajay Kumar and V. Yashashree from the Department of B.Com.(BM), second year won the first prize. All the participants were awarded with certificates of participation.

Around 55 students attended the event and gained insights about drug awareness and anti-narcotics. The competition was concluded by 2:30 pm.

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship and The Corporate Governance Professionals' Association jointly commemorated the Global Corporate Governance Day. "Corporate Walk", an intra-collegiate competition was also conducted among 33 students forming 7 teams from the departments of B.Com.(CA), B.Com.(General), BCA, BBA, B.Com.(A & F) and B.Com.(BM) in order to showcase their corporate demeanor.

The celebration commenced at 12:00 pm with the recital of "Tamizhthai Vaazthu" which was followed by the ignition of "Kuthu Vilakku". The Department Head Dr S. Ganapathy honoured the Chief Guest by presenting a valuable memento.

The celebration proceeded with the introduction of the chief guest, DR.V.K. Ajay, Associate Professor of the department of MBA, S.A. Engineering College, Thiruverkadu , Chennai 77.

All 7 teams from different departments who had gathered at the celebration showcased their excellent professionalism. One by one, all the teams exhibited their performance by walking on the ramp as a coordinated group of corporate professionals, signifying their practice and team-work. 

Participation certificates were awarded to all the students who had participated in the competition. F. Afshaan Banu, L. Jeevithaa, Suresh, Sriram, Hemanth Seervi, G. Rithika and  H. Anupama from the Department of BBA won the third place, R. Nijanthan, Sri Prasanna, Sahithya, Hari Haran, J. Vaishnav and Vijaya Dharshini from the Department of B.Com.(A & F) won the second place and Sumendra, Christmathiew, R. Shan, Ajay Kumar, M. Sanjay, Kesav and Lavan from the Department of B.Com.(BM) won the first place. All winning teams were awarded with certificates and shields.

Around 180 students were present in the celebration. The celebration concluded by 2:00 pm with the recital of the National Anthem.


Inauguration of Corporate Governance Professionals' Association and Freshers' Day celebration on 27.08.2024

Inauguration of Corporate Governance Professionals' Association On August 27, 2024, the Department of Corporate Secretaryship at S.A. College of Arts and Science inaugurated the "Corporate Governance Professionals' Association" in the SACAS Auditorium. The event, running from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, began with the recital of "Tamizhthai Vaazthu" and the lighting of the "Kuthu Vilakku."

Dr. S. Ganapathy, Head of the Department, honored the Chief Guest, CS Damodaran M., Chairman of SIRC, ICSI, who shared insights on the career prospects for Company Secretaries in India. He highlighted the increasing demand for the profession and detailed course scopes and salary ranges. The ceremony included the introduction of student leaders, distribution of badges and appointment letters, and the recognition of outstanding contributions with Spot Cards. The event concluded with the National Anthem.

The day also featured a Freshers' Day celebration, providing new students with opportunities to connect with peers and faculty through performances and interactive games.

The Students Knowledge Transformation Study Circle #10 provided an insightful platform for students of II B.Com. Corporate Secretaryship to share their expertise on various topics. Through their presentations, they explored contemporary issues and analyzed real-world scenarios, showcasing their understanding and critical thinking skills.

Innovation of Business: Veronica.V, Sreya.B, and Sri Lekha.R presented a case study on the innovation of business. Their presentation provided an in-depth exploration of the meaning, nature, and necessity of innovation in the business world. They highlighted examples of successful brands that have excelled through innovation and discussed various methods to develop innovative ideas.

Personal Growth: Shai Preethi.S and Bala Akshaya.P focused on personal growth in their presentation. They emphasized the importance of continuous personal development, effective goal setting, adaptability, and nurturing a growth-oriented mindset. Their insights aimed to inspire fellow students to prioritize personal growth alongside their academic and professional endeavors.

Stock Market: Abitha.K delivered an informative presentation on the stock market. She provided a comprehensive overview of the stock market's definition, types, and purposes. Her presentation helped students understand investment strategies and alternative income sources beyond traditional employment, offering practical knowledge on navigating the financial markets.

Leisure Time Management: Nandhini.M discussed the importance of leisure time management in her presentation. She highlighted the significance of balancing work and leisure, sharing practical methods for managing time effectively to reduce stress and enhance productivity. Her session underscored the value of recreational activities in maintaining overall well-being.

The Students Knowledge Transformation Study Circle #10 served as a platform for students to showcase their knowledge and analytical skills on relevant topics. The event highlighted the students' ability to critically analyze complex issues and contribute meaningfully to discussions on contemporary matters. It is hoped that such initiatives will continue to encourage students to engage in research and analysis, fostering intellectual growth and contributing to the academic community.
