College of Arts & Science organized a Student Development Program (SDP) – Professional Enhancement at the Preview Theatre. The session saw the participation of 130 students from the commerce stream.
The session was led by CMA, CPA G. Kumar, Director & Senior Transformation Catalyst – FINSPIRE Academy, a seasoned professional with 40 years of corporate experience, including 31 years in Oman. He emphasized the importance of professional qualifications like CMA and CPA, soft skills, career planning, and continuous learning for success in the finance industry.
The insightful session motivated students to set career goals and enhance their skills. The Commerce Association expressed gratitude to G. Kumar for his valuable guidance and looks forward to future knowledge-sharing events.

S.A. College of Arts & Science Hosts Seminar on Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities under NEP On January 8, 2025, the “Empowering the Next Generation of Women in STEM: Navigating Challenges and Seizing Opportunities under NEP” seminar, organized by the School of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science and sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research - SRC (ICSSR-SRC), attracted widespread attention, receiving over 100 article submissions on its theme. The seminar aimed to address gender disparities in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and align with India's Vision Viksit Bharat @ 2047, marking the 100th year of independence.
Focusing on the obstacles women face in STEM, such as gender bias, harassment, the glass ceiling, and work-life balance issues, the seminar sought to empower women to overcome these challenges and contribute to a more inclusive society under the National Education Policy (NEP). The seminar’s objectives included exploring the current status of women in STEM, identifying NEP opportunities, and proposing actionable recommendations for policymakers and educational institutions.
The event addressed key themes, including promoting gender equality in STEM education, enhancing leadership opportunities for women, and sharing national and international best practices.

Department of Commerce (General) organized a two-day workshop on “Elevating the Art of Research and Publication: AI Tools and Techniques for Precision in Writing and Quality Publishing” on December 26th and 27th, 2024. The event, held in the CS Lab, was aimed at equipping faculty members with the latest tools and techniques to enhance the quality of their research and academic writing, ultimately improving the publication process. The workshop was conducted by Dr. E. Gayathiri, Assistant Professor at Guru Nanak College, who provided a comprehensive understanding of how artificial intelligence (AI) can be utilized to elevate academic productivity, precision, and overall quality in research publications.
The main objectives of the workshop were to introduce AI-powered tools to enhance academic writing, streamline research processes, and improve the overall quality of publication outputs. The event provided faculty members with practical knowledge of AI-driven tools for improving writing quality, managing citations, and structuring academic papers for submission to high-impact journals. Furthermore, the workshop aimed to enable more effective and efficient registration processes for conferences and academic submissions using AI technologies. By focusing on these areas, the workshop sought to foster a more streamlined and precise academic environment for faculty members, ultimately leading to higher standards of academic output and publication success.
The first day of the workshop began with a session introducing the role of AI in research and publication. Dr. Gayathiri discussed how AI is reshaping academic research, with a focus on tools that assist in literature reviews, data analysis, and identifying patterns in large datasets. The session highlighted AI tools like EndNote, a citation manager that uses AI to automate and enhance referencing, and Scrivener, which offers AI-driven suggestions for writing improvements. In the following session, Dr. Gayathiri introduced AI-based writing assistants such as Grammarly, ProWritingAid, and Hemingway Editor, which are designed to enhance writing quality, improve readability, and ensure error-free academic papers. These tools can be particularly useful for faculty members aiming to refine their drafts before submission to journals.
On the second day, the workshop continued with a session on structuring academic papers for publication success. Dr. Gayathiri provided valuable insights into best practices for manuscript preparation, including how AI can help with section organization and aligning papers with journal requirements. Tools like Ref-N-Write and Grammarly Premium were demonstrated, showcasing how they can aid in the refinement of academic papers. In the afternoon, participants learned how AI could optimize the peer review and publication processes. Tools like Overleaf and Paperpile were introduced, helping faculty members with manuscript submissions and peer review management. The final session focused on enabling an effective registration process for academic conferences and events, where tools like Eventbrite and Cvent were showcased to streamline event participation, paper submissions, and feedback collection.
The workshop successfully met its objectives by providing faculty with hands-on experience using AI tools that can improve the quality of their academic writing, enhance research efficiency, and streamline the publication process. The practical demonstrations and real-time applications allowed attendees to understand how AI can be integrated into their daily academic workflows. The program began with an inspiring Human Rally, showcasing the spirit of unity and democratic values. Following the rally, all participants took a solemn Democracy Pledge, emphasizing their commitment to upholding the principles of democracy in their daily lives. The event was graced by esteemed speakers who shared their expertise and insights on democracy and its relevance in today’s society: Dr. Karthick, Advocate: Delivered an enlightening talk on the legal and constitutional aspects of democracy, focusing on the role of individuals in safeguarding democratic rights. Mr. Nammala Krishna, District Youth Officer: Spoke on the importance of youth participation in democratic processes and how young minds can drive positive change in society. Mrs. A. Meenakshi Sundari, M.A. in Sociology: Highlighted the sociological dimensions of democracy, including inclusivity, diversity, and the role of education in nurturing democratic citizens.

This initiative has taken with the motive of educating the society's well being. This event offered a forum to promote a safer and more respectful campus environment among students. Parthiban as the esteemed speaker. The event aimed to educate students and community members about their rights as consumers, emphasizing the importance of informed decision-making in today’s complex marketplace.
Dr. V.N. Parthiban delivered a comprehensive presentation that covered various critical aspects of consumer rights. He began by outlining the fundamental rights that every consumer should be aware of, including the right to safety, information, choice, and redress. He further elaborated on the legal frameworks in place, such as the Consumer Protection Act, that safeguard these rights. Dr. Parthiban highlighted the significance of being an informed consumer and the ways individuals can advocate for their rights in various situations.
The lecture also provided practical tips on how to effectively resolve consumer disputes and the role of consumer forums in promoting justice. The audience was engaged throughout the session, with participants encouraged to ask questions and share personal experiences related to consumer issues.
