Shandy Visit on Market Haggling Practices Organised SACAS
The PG Department of Commerce (General), S.A. College of Arts & Science, organised a Shandy Visit on “Market Haggling Practices” on 30 January 2026 at the Pallavaram Friday Market, Chennai, as part of its experiential and outcome-based learning initiatives. The academic visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to traditional market systems and real-time business practices.
During the visit, students closely observed pricing mechanisms, negotiation strategies, buyer–seller interactions, and demand–supply dynamics prevalent in informal markets. The Pallavaram Friday Market, known for its vibrant trading environment and product diversity, offered an ideal setting for understanding micro-level business operations and consumer behaviour.
The field-based learning experience enabled students to connect classroom concepts such as market structures, consumer psychology, bargaining power, and price determination with real-world scenarios. Through observation and interaction, students enhanced their analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. The visit successfully bridged the gap between theory and practice, fostering critical thinking and holistic learning among commerce students.
