Visual Communication Students Explore South Indian Heritage at DakshinaChitra
The Department of Visual Communication, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized an educational visit to DakshinaChitra Heritage Museum on 1 August 2026 as part of its academic curriculum. A total of 47 students, accompanied by faculty members, participated in the visit.
The programme provided students with an opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of South India through traditional houses, museum exhibits, artisan workshops, folk art displays, and craft demonstrations. The visit offered valuable practical exposure to the region’s architecture, customs, and artistic traditions.
As part of the learning experience, students captured photographs and videos to develop their skills in visual storytelling, documentary photography, composition, and cultural documentation. The activity also enhanced their observation, creativity, and understanding of heritage conservation through the lens of visual communication.
The educational visit proved to be both informative and inspiring, successfully bridging classroom learning with real-world experience and enriching students’ knowledge of culture, media, and visual arts.
