The Department of English, in association with the IQAC, S.A. College of Arts & Science, Chennai, is organising WHEEL 2026 (Women in Higher Education Empowering English Learning), a State Conclave, on 14th August 2026 at the SACAS Theatre.

The conclave is centred on the theme “Reimagining English Studies: Reviving Interest, Rebuilding Enrolment and Redefining Relevance in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” It aims to bring together academicians, educational administrators, researchers, and students to engage in meaningful discussions on the evolving landscape of English Studies in the AI era.
The programme will feature a Keynote Address by Dr. S. Armstrong, Professor and Head, Department of English, University of Madras, followed by a Panel Discussion moderated by Dr. Supala Pandiarajan, Associate Professor of English and Head-in-Charge, Department of Women Studies, University of Madras. The other panelists include
