The Department of Home Science – Nutrition, Food Service Management & Dietetics, S.A. College of Arts & Science, is set to organise a series of activities to commemorate National Nutrition Month 2026, with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of healthy nutrition and encouraging sustainable food and lifestyle practices among the college community.

The celebrations will commence with a Thumb Printing Campaign on 7 September 2026, providing an interactive platform for students and staff to express their participation and commitment towards making healthier food choices. The campaign will serve as an engaging beginning to the month-long nutrition awareness initiatives.

As part of the celebrations, the Department will also conduct a 21-Day Meal Plate Engagement Challenge – “Discover a Healthy You”, primarily for teaching faculty and non-teaching staff. The initiative will encourage participants to make one healthy and sustainable choice each day, supported by nutrition education, basic health assessment, personalised diet counselling and practical meal-planning guidance. Interactive activities through a dedicated Meal plate engagement WhatsApp group will further encourage participation and consistency.

A National Seminar will also be organised on 25 September 2026 at S.A. College of Arts & Science on the theme “Integrating Diet and Mental Health: The Nutrition–Mind Connection for Holistic Well-being”, sponsored by the NSI – Chennai Chapter. The seminar will feature three technical sessions and a panel discussion involving eminent experts.

Through these initiatives, the Department aims to promote nutrition awareness, healthy behaviour, active participation and holistic well-being among students and staff.
