Department of Corporate Secretaryship, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organised a Guest Lecture on 08.09.2026

The Corporate Governance Professionals’ Association, under the aegis of the Department of Corporate Secretaryship, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organised a Guest Lecture on “From the Income Tax Act, 1961 to the New Income Tax Act, 2025: Key Transformations” on 8 September 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the SACAS Auditorium. More than 180 students participated enthusiastically. CA. Kavitha Umapathy, FCA, M.Com., M.Phil., MBA, RV, Partner, P. Pattabiramen & Co., Chartered Accountants, Chennai, and an IBBI Registered Valuer, served as the resource person. She discussed the evolution of taxation, direct and indirect taxes, GST, digitalisation and e-filing, PAN, and the complexities of the Income Tax Act, 1961. She also highlighted key transformations under the new framework, including the Tax Year concept, simplified provisions, electronic records, and taxation of Virtual Digital Assets. A practical demonstration on decoding PAN numbers further engaged the students. The programme concluded with badge presentation and a Vote of Thanks. Students gave positive feedback for the programme.
