TEKSACASIA’26 – Inter-Collegiate Symposium at SACAS.

S.A. College of Arts & Science organized TEKSACASIA’26, an inter-collegiate Symposium, on 13 February 2026 from 8.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. The event was conducted by the Department of Computer Science in association with the Department of Computer Applications at the SACAS Auditorium, Computer Science Lab, and various halls.

Around 173 students from 18 colleges across Chennai and Thiruvallur districts participated. Students from BCA, B.Sc Computer Science, IT, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Commerce streams actively took part, making the event lively and diverse.

The chief guests, Mr. Mathiarasan Sankaramoorthy, Founder of YALABS, and Dr. Usha M, Director of MEASI Institute of Information Technology, motivated students to explore emerging technologies and think innovatively.

The symposium featured events such as Be My SIRI (Quiz), Papyrus (Paper Presentation), Error 404 (Debugging), and PanelPlay (Story Board). The program enhanced students’ technical skills, teamwork, and confidence for future challenges.

The Department of Computer Applications of S.A. College of Arts and Science, in association with ICT Academy and under the banner of the Skill Elevation Club, organized an Industrial Visit titled “UmagineTN’2026” on 09 January 2026 at the Chennai Trade Centre. The visit was conducted from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. and witnessed active participation from faculty members and 43 second-year BCA students.

The program was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, whose address highlighted Tamil Nadu’s vision of becoming a global technology and innovation hub. UmagineTN’2026 served as a premier platform showcasing emerging technologies, digital governance initiatives, artificial intelligence, Industry 4.0 solutions, startups, and ICT-driven innovations that are shaping the future of industries.

Through interactive sessions, technology exhibits, and expert talks, students gained valuable exposure to real-world applications of computer science concepts. The event emphasized the role of digital transformation, innovation ecosystems, and skill development aligned with current industry requirements. Students also learned about career opportunities, entrepreneurship, and the importance of continuous upskilling in the evolving IT landscape.

UmagineTN’2026: SACAS Students Explore Future Technologies at Chennai Trade Centre.

The Department of Computer Applications, S.A. College of Arts & Science, under the initiative of The Skill Elevation Club, organized an industrial visit titled “UmagineTN’2026” on 08.01.2026 at the Chennai Trade Centre, from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. The visit aimed to expose students to emerging technologies, industry trends, and real-world applications within the IT and digital ecosystem.

The event was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. M.K. Stalin, whose address emphasized Tamil Nadu’s vision for digital transformation, innovation-led growth, and youth empowerment through technology. The programme featured expert talks, live demonstrations, and technology showcases in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, smart governance, startup innovation, digital infrastructure, and future-ready skills.

A total of 65 first-year BCA students, along with faculty members, actively participated. The visit enhanced students’ understanding of industry expectations, practical technology applications, and the role of innovation in societal development, motivating them toward skill-oriented and future-focused learning.

Exploring Excellence: SACAS Students Visit IIT Madras Open House 2026.

The Department of Computer Applications, in association with the Skill Elevation Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized an academic campus visit to IIT Madras during the Institute Open House 2026 on 03 January 2026. The programme was held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the IIT Madras campus.

A total of 55 final-year BCA students, accompanied by faculty members, participated in the visit. The main objective was to provide students with practical exposure and academic enrichment by introducing them to one of India’s premier institutions. During the Open House, students explored academic departments, research laboratories, innovation centres, and startup incubation facilities.

The sessions focused on emerging technologies, interdisciplinary research, industry collaboration, and higher education opportunities. Students gained valuable insights into the application of theoretical knowledge in real-world research and innovation. The visit inspired students to develop a research-oriented mindset and motivated them to pursue higher studies and careers in advanced technology fields.

SACAS Hosts Advanced Cyber Security Training

The Department of Computer Applications of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a four-day Advanced IT Skills Training on Cyber Security from 24 to 27 November 2025 at the Computer Graphics Lab. The training, held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., was conducted in collaboration with the ICT Academy under The Skill Elevation Club and IBM Skills Build.

Mr. Mugesh Muralidhar, Cyber Security Analyst at Securiglobe Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, served as the resource person. Guided by Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, the sessions introduced participants to key cybersecurity concepts, major cyber threats, port security, Nmap scanning, essential security tools, and the evolution of cybersecurity.

A total of 65 final-year students from B.Sc. Computer Science, BCA, and B.Sc. Computer Science with AI gained hands-on exposure through real-time demonstrations and practical exercises.

The program strengthened students’ technical abilities, enhanced their confidence, and equipped them with foundational skills for future careers in ethical hacking, security analysis, and digital forensics.

Gateway to Government Careers: Guest Lecture Inspires Graduates at SACAS.

The Department of Computer Applications, S.A.College of Arts & Science in collaboration with the Skill Elevation Club, organized a Guest Lecture on “Government of India Job Opportunities for Fresh Graduates” on 29th September 2025 at the SACAS Auditorium. The session, held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., featured Mr. Ravi Shankar T., Planning Engineer, Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd., Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project, as the resource person.

Mr. Ravi Shankar delivered an insightful talk on the vast career avenues available in government sectors. He stressed the importance of skill development, perseverance, and preparation for competitive examinations. The event was attended by Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications, faculty members, and over 286 enthusiastic students.

The session empowered students with clarity on eligibility, strategies, and opportunities, motivating them to confidently pursue impactful careers in the public sector.

SACAS Hosts International Workshop on Cyber Security.

The Department of Computer Applications,S.A College of Arts & Science in collaboration with The Skill Elevation Club, organized an International Workshop on Cyber Security on 30th September 2025 at the Computer Science Lab. The session, held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., witnessed active participation from over 120 students of B.Sc. Computer Science and BCA, along with faculty members.

The distinguished resource person, Mr. Jubair Ahmed, M.Sc. Cyber Security with Advanced Research, University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, delivered an insightful lecture on the growing importance of safeguarding personal and organizational data. He explained common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, and hacking, while also highlighting practical defense measures including multi-factor authentication, secure browsing, and cyber hygiene practices.

The interactive session encouraged students to discuss real-world cyber issues and inspired them to adopt safe digital practices. The workshop broadened awareness, strengthened IT skills, and motivated students to view cyber security as a key career path.


SACAS GOLU CELEBRATION 2025

DAY - 2

The second day of the Golu celebrations at our college was marked with devotion, creativity, and cultural vibrancy. The Department of Computer Science, Computer Science Application and Computer Science with AI staff and students took the lead, with Pooja performed under the guidance of the Heads of the Departments Mr.Chandrasekar.P and Mr.Krishnan.R. The rituals invoked blessings for wisdom, harmony, and innovation. Students enriched the day with cultural performances. A graceful classical dance by Ms.Rakshitha and team  ( III BCA ) rooted in Natya Shastra (IKS) highlighted tradition, while a devotional song sung by  Ms.Lakshana ( II BCA) uplifted the spiritual mood. A student also delivered an inspiring slogan by Mr.Dharshan Raj ( III B.Sc CS), connecting values of unity, sustainability, and responsibility. Adding uniqueness, students showcased innovative Golu displays. They created a forest miniature representing India’s age-old ecological wisdom, where nature is revered as sacred, representing and emphasizing the balance between humans and the environment (IKS). spreading awareness on nature conservation, reflecting SDG 15: Life on Land. To represent their department, students designed and placed a computer model and a robot made of cardboard, symbolizing technology, creativity, and problem-solving, aligning with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure and signifies the IKS philosophy of integrating tradition with innovation.

The day beautifully blended Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), cultural expression, and modern innovation, promoting SDG goals through tradition and collective participation.

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), the SACAS Fin.Tech Club, and the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals were proud to host INNOBIZ 2025 -AI in Finance Hackathon with a theme of Innovate, Compete, Conquer.

It was conducted on a Friday, 30 th August 2025, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM in SACAS Campus, Poonamallee - Avadi Main Road, Thiruverkadu, chennai - 600077.

Objective of the Event

The hackathon was to bring about innovativeness, critical thinking and entrepreneurial nature among young minds by exposing them to the future of finance that is integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI). It was strictly aimed at the students of Classes 9 to 12 and offered them an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and creative ideas.

The event witnessed active participation from five leading schools:

  • Sudharsanam Vidyaashram School-CBSE
  • Sana Matriculation School
  • Adhitya School, Avadi-CBSE

The scene was characterized by massive attendance of different schools. The six thought-provoking events were deeply engaging to the students who initially enrolled in the course of the games, and each of them enticed problem-solving, collaboration, and creative thinking.

  1. Business Model Poster -Students came up with posters that demonstrated innovative business ideas.
  2. Block and Tackle - An examination of communication, mind and debating skills.
  3. AI in Finance Model - The Teams prepared models by showing the role of AI in revolutionizing finance.
  4. Elevator Pitch Contest- A competition where participants summarised and presented creative concepts in business in a short time.
  5. Reverse Pitching Challenge - This was a one-of-a-kind event and the judges asked problems and students provided solutions.
  6. Prompt Challenge - A time-based competition that depends on an AI-based challenge to test skill and creativity.

The hackathon was an enormous success and it provided students with a great chance to learn AI in finance and gain self-confidence, improve communication, and think like entrepreneurs. The project also supported the spirit of innovation and equipping young learners with the future demands in the financial and technological sectors as a way of commitment by SACAS.

The Department of Computer Applications at S.A. College of Arts and Science hosted a vibrant and memorable event on 25th July 2025 at 2:00 PM in the SACAS Auditorium, marking the official inauguration of THE SKILL ELEVATION CLUB alongside FRESH FEST’25, the Fresher’s Day celebration for the newly admitted first-year students.

The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome address that set an enthusiastic tone for the occasion. The highlight of the first half was the formal launch of the Skill Elevation Club, a platform envisioned to foster innovation, collaboration, and technical growth among students. The club aims to organize seminars, coding competitions, hands-on workshops, and intercollegiate programs to encourage students to enhance their skills beyond academics.

The second segment of the event brought a celebratory atmosphere with Fresh Fest’25, designed to warmly welcome the freshers into the college community. The new students displayed their talents through energetic dance performances, melodious songs, and engaging games. The active involvement of seniors and faculty created an inclusive and supportive environment that helped the newcomers feel at home.

The program was successfully coordinated under the guidance of Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications. A total of 138 students and faculty members participated in the event.

Outcome:
The event fostered a strong sense of belonging among the first-year students and offered them a platform to express themselves. The inauguration of the Skill Elevation Club marked a significant step in promoting leadership, innovation, and a spirit of collaboration within the department.
