The Department of Computer Science of S.A. College of Arts and Science, in collaboration with ICT Academy and under the banner of the Nexus Technovate Club, organized an Industrial Visit titled “UmagineTN’2026 – An Industrial Visit to Chennai Trade Centre” on 09 January 2026. The visit was scheduled from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. at the Chennai Trade Centre, Chennai. The program was attended by faculty members and 45 second-year B.Sc. Computer Science students.

The event was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru M.K. Stalin, whose keynote address emphasized Tamil Nadu’s commitment to digital innovation, emerging technologies, and inclusive technological growth. UmagineTN’2026 provided a comprehensive platform showcasing advancements in artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, smart governance, Industry 4.0, startups, and ICT-enabled solutions.

Students explored various technology stalls and interactive sessions that demonstrated real-time applications of computer science concepts in industry and governance. The exposure helped students understand how theoretical knowledge is transformed into practical solutions addressing real-world challenges. The event also highlighted career opportunities, entrepreneurship prospects, and the importance of innovation and continuous skill development in the technology sector.

SACAS's Computer Science Students Visit IIT Madras for Institute Open House 2026

The Department of Computer Science, S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with The Nexus Technovate Club, organized an academic campus visit to Indian Institute of Technology Madras on 03 January 2026 to attend the Institute Open House 2026. The programme was held from 9.00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. with the objective of providing academic exposure and career-oriented insights.

A total of 56 final-year B.Sc. Computer Science students, accompanied by faculty members, participated in the visit. The Open House offered valuable information on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, research opportunities, innovation hubs, interdisciplinary learning, and industry collaborations. Emerging areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Robotics, Internet of Things, and Sustainable Technologies were highlighted.

Students interacted with faculty, researchers, and student volunteers, gaining clarity on higher education pathways, research culture, and startup incubation. The visit proved highly motivating, broadening students’ perspectives and strengthening their aspirations towards higher studies, research, and innovation-driven careers.

 


SACAS GOLU CELEBRATION 2025

DAY - 2

The second day of the Golu celebrations at our college was marked with devotion, creativity, and cultural vibrancy. The Department of Computer Science, Computer Science Application and Computer Science with AI staff and students took the lead, with Pooja performed under the guidance of the Heads of the Departments Mr.Chandrasekar.P and Mr.Krishnan.R. The rituals invoked blessings for wisdom, harmony, and innovation. Students enriched the day with cultural performances. A graceful classical dance by Ms.Rakshitha and team  ( III BCA ) rooted in Natya Shastra (IKS) highlighted tradition, while a devotional song sung by  Ms.Lakshana ( II BCA) uplifted the spiritual mood. A student also delivered an inspiring slogan by Mr.Dharshan Raj ( III B.Sc CS), connecting values of unity, sustainability, and responsibility. Adding uniqueness, students showcased innovative Golu displays. They created a forest miniature representing India’s age-old ecological wisdom, where nature is revered as sacred, representing and emphasizing the balance between humans and the environment (IKS). spreading awareness on nature conservation, reflecting SDG 15: Life on Land. To represent their department, students designed and placed a computer model and a robot made of cardboard, symbolizing technology, creativity, and problem-solving, aligning with SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure and signifies the IKS philosophy of integrating tradition with innovation.

The day beautifully blended Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), cultural expression, and modern innovation, promoting SDG goals through tradition and collective participation.

The Department of Computer Science, S.A College of Arts and Science, in collaboration with The Nexus Technovate Club, organized a Human Chain Formation on 23rd August 2025 to mark World Organ Donation Day. The event was held at the SACAS Main Gate from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 a.m.

The program was initiated under the guidance of Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications. Faculty members along with 312 students from the department actively participated in the formation, creating an impactful visual symbol of solidarity and awareness on the importance of organ donation.

The activity aimed to highlight the value of organ donation as a life-saving gesture and to inspire students to become advocates for this noble cause. Through the chain formation, the participants pledged to spread awareness in their community and encourage others to consider organ donation.

The event instilled a strong sense of social responsibility among the students. They gained awareness about the critical need for organ donors and the role youth can play in promoting health and saving lives. The initiative successfully combined knowledge with action, leaving a lasting impact on participants.

The Department of Computer Science, S.A College of Arts and Science, in association with The Nexus Technovate Club, organized an Awareness Session on Organ Donation for Good Health and Well-Being on 23rd August 2025 at the SACAS Auditorium. The session was conducted between 9.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m.

The guest speaker for the program was Ms. Sujatha S, Associate Director-Courses, Mohan Foundation. She delivered an insightful talk on the significance of organ donation and its role in saving countless lives. Her address highlighted not only the medical importance of organ donation but also the ethical and humanitarian aspects associated with the cause.

The session was organized under the guidance of Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications. Faculty members and 108 students from the department actively participated in the event. The interactive session provided a platform for students to clarify doubts, understand legal procedures, and recognize the critical shortage of organ donors in society.

Outcome:
The program sensitized students about the life-saving impact of organ donation. It encouraged them to adopt a socially responsible mindset, spread awareness, and contribute to the noble cause of health and well-being in the community.

KAINOTOZAPPY’2025 Inspires Young Innovators at SACAS

The Department of Computer Science, S.A. College of Arts and Science, in association with ICT Academy, Computer Society of India, and Pantech, hosted KAINOTOZAPPY’2025 – an interschool symposium under The Nexus Technovate Club – on August 9, 2025, at the SACAS Auditorium and multiple venues. The event began at 9:00 a.m., drawing an enthusiastic participation of 332 students from Classes VIII to XII across various schools.

The symposium was inaugurated by Mr. Pradeep A M, Manager & Business HR, Campus & Institutional Alliances, Movate Technologies Pvt. Ltd., who delivered an inspiring address on innovation, creativity, and the value of continuous learning.

Competitions were judged by distinguished experts: Mr. Gurunathan, Full Stack Developer, MeYaa Technologies (Renew Creations – Best out of Waste); Smt. Sujipriya Rajkamal, Carnatic Vocalist & Proprietor, R.D Music School (Songstuck Mania – Singing); Ms. Vaishnavi S, Assistant Professor, English, SACAS (Inkwell Challenge – Essay Writing); Smt. Hemamalini, Classical Dancer, Navarasa Natya Kalalayam (Beat Stryke Fusion – Dance); and Mrs. Shridevi V, Assistant Professor, Visual Communication, SACAS (Imaginest – Drawing).

Guided by Mr. P. Chandrasekar, HoD of Computer Science and Applications, and supported by faculty and students, KAINOTOZAPPY’2025 successfully blended academics, arts, and industry insights, fostering creativity, collaboration, and confidence among young talents.

Department of Computer Science, S.A. College of Arts and Science, in association with The Nexus Technovate Club, organized an expert talk on the topic "Gateway to the IT Industry" on 28th July 2025 at 12:00 p.m. The session was held in the Computer Science Laboratory and was presided over by Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications. The event witnessed active participation from 85 students and department faculty members.

The resource person for the session, Mr. Nixon Abraham, Microsoft SQL Server DBA and Azure Cloud Specialist at Atos, delivered an insightful lecture on the various entry points into the IT field. He highlighted the significance of technical skills, certifications, and current industry demands, especially in cloud computing and database technologies. Mr. Nixon emphasized the importance of continuous learning and adaptability in this rapidly evolving industry.

The Department of Computer Applications at S.A. College of Arts and Science hosted a vibrant and memorable event on 25th July 2025 at 2:00 PM in the SACAS Auditorium, marking the official inauguration of THE SKILL ELEVATION CLUB alongside FRESH FEST’25, the Fresher’s Day celebration for the newly admitted first-year students.

The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome address that set an enthusiastic tone for the occasion. The highlight of the first half was the formal launch of the Skill Elevation Club, a platform envisioned to foster innovation, collaboration, and technical growth among students. The club aims to organize seminars, coding competitions, hands-on workshops, and intercollegiate programs to encourage students to enhance their skills beyond academics.

The second segment of the event brought a celebratory atmosphere with Fresh Fest’25, designed to warmly welcome the freshers into the college community. The new students displayed their talents through energetic dance performances, melodious songs, and engaging games. The active involvement of seniors and faculty created an inclusive and supportive environment that helped the newcomers feel at home.

The program was successfully coordinated under the guidance of Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications. A total of 138 students and faculty members participated in the event.

The Department of Computer Science at S.A. College of Arts & Science  organized an engaging guest lecture on “AI Automation Tools” under The Nexus Technovate Club on July 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the College Auditorium.

The session featured Mr. Karthick A, Founder & CEO of Sysgate Infosystems, as the keynote speaker. He shared in-depth insights on the transformative impact of AI across industries, focusing on Machine Learning (ML), Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

Popular tools like UiPath, Blue Prism, ChatGPT, IBM Watson, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Zapier, and Power Automate were introduced, providing students with practical knowledge of cutting-edge technologies.

The event, presided over by Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department, witnessed active participation from 256 students and faculty. The session inspired students to explore AI-driven innovations and applications in their academic and professional journeys.

The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with The Nexus Technovate Club, hosted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with SADRE Solutions Pvt. Ltd. on 11th July 2025. The event was graced by Mr. Vincent Arokianathan, Chief Knowledge Officer of SADRE Solutions, and Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications.

The MoU marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing student career development, digital skilling, placements, and consulting support. A key highlight of the collaboration is the implementation of Projexus, an Experiential Project-Based Learning (EPBL) program developed with NASSCOM FutureSkills Prime. The initiative will offer students real-time industry exposure through innovation-led projects, mentorship, and industry-certified training.

Students will have the opportunity to undertake up to eight projects before graduation, with credit recognition under NCrF and certifications co-branded by NASSCOM, MeitY, and SADRE. The session concluded with an interactive discussion between SADRE representatives, faculty members, and students.
