The Department of Visual Communication of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a workshop titled “Design and Web” on 30th November 2025 at the SACAS Theatre. The session was led by Mr. N. R. Suresh Babu, Creative Director at Zoho Corporation, who shared his inspiring journey from a signboard artist to a design expert.

Mr. Suresh Babu discussed the importance of typography, branding, UX/UI design, and creativity in the digital era. He emphasized research-based design, aesthetic presentation, and originality as key elements for success. With over 25 years of experience, he shared real-world case studies from projects with global brands like DreamWorks, AOL, Winamp, and Zoho Survey.

The workshop gave students valuable insights into the design industry, bridging the gap between classroom learning and professional practice. It inspired participants to approach creativity with passion, discipline, and innovation.

The Actor Jegan Fans Meet was organized by Take one Tamil Channel in collaboration with S.A. College of Arts & Science on 30th October 2025 at the SACAS Preview Theater. The event began at 10.00 a.m. and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students.

Actor Jegan interacted warmly with the audience, sharing his inspiring journey, experiences, and insights into the film industry. Students were excited to meet their favorite actor and actively took part in the lively interactive session. His motivational words and humble personality created a joyful and memorable atmosphere, leaving the young audience inspired and energized.

SACAS Visual Communication Hosts Seminar on Fact-Checking in the Digital Era.

The Department of Visual Communication at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Fact Check Unit (FCU), Government of Tamil Nadu, organized a seminar on “Fact-Checking in the Digital Era: Building Responsible Media Citizens.”

The event opened with a welcome address by Dr. Srinivasan, Head of the Department, followed by introductions by Prof. Shridevi. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Iyan Karthikeyan, Mission Director, TN Fact Check Unit, who shared field experiences on combating misinformation and the growing importance of fact-checking in today’s media landscape.

Coordinated by Dr. Sheik Mohamed, the seminar featured active participation from students, with Amritha (III B.Sc. Visual Communication) as MC and Dr. Kamna Kandpal delivering the vote of thanks. The department expressed gratitude to the management, faculty, and students whose contributions made the seminar a resounding success.


SACAS Golu Celebration on 25.09.2025

DAY - 3

The Department of HS-NFSMD and Visual Communication (Viscom) organized Day 3 of the SACAS Golu Celebration on 24th September 2025 at the SACAS Auditorium. The event harmoniously blended tradition, devotion, and wisdom, while linking to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Indian Knowledge System (IKS). The program began with pooja arrangement and devotional songs was by students Pavithra and Harini (HS-NFSMD) and Amrita (Viscom), fostering unity and emotional well-being, reflecting SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). A key highlight was the Himalayas miniature set, creatively designed by HS-NFSMD students, symbolizing the ecological and spiritual significance of the Himalayas. This display emphasized SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The celebration illustrated how the Indian Knowledge System promotes sustainable living by uniting devotion, ecological reverence, and cultural creativity. Overall, the event successfully combined tradition with modern values, reinforcing sustainability and cultural pride.

The Department of Visual Communication, S.A. College of Arts & Science , successfully hosted a One-Day International Workshop on “AI Avatar” on 12th September 2025 in hybrid mode at the CG Lab, with live YouTube streaming for global reach.
Mr. Vigneshwar V G, AI Enthusiast and Digital Creator from New Zealand, delivered an engaging session on AI-driven avatar creation and its applications in gaming, VR, education, and healthcare. Over 100 students participated in interactive demonstrations and hands-on assignments. The workshop enhanced their technical skills, encouraged innovation, and provided valuable international exposure, making it a resounding success.

Mastering Story Writing: SACAS Hosts Engaging Workshop for Budding Filmmakers.

The Department of Visual Communication, in collaboration with Media Warriors Hub, organized a highly interactive workshop titled “Mastering Story Writing” on 29th August 2025 at S.A. College of Arts & Science. The initiative, guided by Mr. Ziegen, Assistant Professor of Visual Communication, aimed to nurture creative storytelling skills among students. Participants included first-year Visual Communication students, along with interested learners from the second and third years.

The session, held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., was facilitated by S. Pranav Neerad, an aspiring filmmaker and assistant director who has worked with acclaimed filmmaker Vetri Maaran. With his industry experience, Pranav offered students a unique blend of technical knowledge and creative insight into the world of storytelling and scriptwriting.

Key highlights of the workshop included practical tips on scriptwriting such as character development, plot structuring, and narrative building. Pranav also shed light on digital storytelling, emphasizing the importance of adapting stories for modern digital platforms and meeting the expectations of contemporary audiences. His real-life experiences from film sets gave students an insider’s perspective into the collaborative process of filmmaking and the challenges faced in script development.

The session was highly engaging, with students actively participating in discussions, posing thoughtful questions, and even exploring new script ideas under the speaker’s guidance.

Concluding on an inspiring note, the workshop provided valuable knowledge to aspiring storytellers, leaving students motivated to experiment with scripts and sharpen their creative abilities in filmmaking and digital media.

Spotlight on Success: “Parking in Glory” Pays Tribute to National Film Awardees

The Department of Visual Communication, S.A. College of Arts & Science, hosted “Parking in Glory – A Tribute to the 71st National Film Awardees” on August 21, 2025, at SACAS Theatre. Celebrating the acclaimed Tamil film “Parking”, the event honoured its achievements in Best Tamil Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor.

Renowned actor M. S. Bhaskar and director Ramkumar Balakrishnan graced the event, sharing insights on acting, screenplay writing, and the journey of Tamil cinema. The program featured a film screening, student tributes, and interactive sessions that inspired over 200 students and faculty members from across Chennai.

Highlights included a portrait sketch by a first-year student, a poetic tribute, and a special felicitation ceremony. The event offered students a unique learning experience and reinforced the department’s commitment to blending cinema and education, making it a truly memorable occasion.

The Department of Visual Communication, at S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a special event featuring the grand screening of Movie 377, created by students and faculty of SRM University. Notably, the film’s director, Mr. Amrit Raj Gnanam, CO-Director Mr. R. D. Balaji—former faculty of SRM and now Course Director at SACAS—was present with the film crew for a live interaction session.

The event also marked the official inauguration of the M.Sc. Visual Communication Batch of 2025. The program began with a graceful Ganesh Vandana by Ms. Naveena and a song release by the III Year Viscom Students. An engaging interaction round for the new batch was organised. Dr. Bala Kumar delivered the welcome address, with a special address by HoD Dr. Srinivasan R., and a programme overview by Mr. Balaji. Coordination and anchoring were managed by Dr. Kamna and team, with Ms. Shridevi handling registration and felicitation.

Movie 377 is a student-made suspense thriller that explores themes such as sexual crimes against boys, the concept of good and bad touch, and the judicial process. The film avoids typical commercial tropes and adopts a realistic style using the Stanislavski method of acting. The cast and crew—including Balaji, Mukesh, Narayanan, and others—were present for a Q&A session with students.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm, curiosity, and the impressive studio setup at SACAS. The programme was successful with the support of the Correspondent, Director and the Principal of SACAS.
