SACAS Football Team Secures Runner-up at UFC Trophy 2026
The football team of S. A. College of Arts & Science delivered a commendable performance at the UFC Trophy 2026, held in Avadi, securing the Runner-up position. In a thrilling final against Chennai FC, the team fought valiantly but narrowly lost 3–4 in a closely contested match.
The final witnessed intense competition, with both sides displaying remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship. Despite the narrow defeat, the team’s performance reflected unity, resilience, and strong fighting spirit throughout the tournament.
A major highlight was Irfan of I Year M.Com, who was honoured as the Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performance and consistent contribution on the field.
The institution proudly congratulates the team for their excellent achievement and spirited effort.

The Department of Physical Education at S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organized the 1st SACAS Corporate Badminton Tournament 2026, marking a significant sporting event on campus. The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from over 25 companies, with around 50 players competing with great energy and dedication.
The event featured Men’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles matches, all conducted smoothly, reflecting excellent planning and coordination. Participants showcased remarkable sportsmanship and competitive spirit throughout the tournament.
In the Men’s Doubles category, Mani and Charan from Dot Solved emerged as winners, while Mithun and Santhosh Kumar from EY secured the runner-up position. Devendiran and Vignesh from CMA CGM claimed third place, followed by Sathish Raja and Prabhakaran from HP Inc in fourth place.
In Mixed Doubles, Leaish Kumar and Veeralakshmi from CMA CGM won the title, with Venkatesh S and Niveditha M from Rapiddata Technologies finishing as runners-up.
The tournament concluded on a highly successful and celebratory note.








Student Selected to Represent University of Madras Handball Team in Inter-University Tournament
Our College student, Mr. K. Satheeswaran of II Year B.Com (CS), has been selected to participate in the Inter-University Tournament and will be representing the Madras University Handball Team (Form III).

The S.A. College of Arts & Science celebrated its 4th Annual Sports Day with great enthusiasm and energy on 07 March 2026 at the college campus in Thiruverkadu, Chennai. The event brought together students, faculty members, and sports enthusiasts to celebrate the spirit of teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition.
The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Gayathry G, an International Athlete, whose inspiring presence motivated the students to pursue sports along with academics. She appreciated the college for encouraging young talents and highlighted the importance of perseverance, fitness, and determination in achieving success.
A proud moment of the event was the announcement that the college had provided ₹25 lakh as scholarships to 83 deserving students during the academic year 2025–2026, reaffirming its commitment to supporting student education and talent.
During the celebration, Shaktivel from the Department of Computer Science with AI was honoured with a ₹50,000 cash prize for his remarkable achievement as a rifle shooter. His dedication and performance brought pride to the institution.
The sports day featured a variety of track and field events, along with an energetic Karate performance that captivated the audience. Students actively participated in several competitions, displaying great sportsmanship and enthusiasm.
The Department of Commerce emerged as the Overall Sports Champion, showcasing outstanding performance across events. The department also won the Best March Past Trophy, impressing the judges with their discipline and coordination.
The celebration concluded on a joyful note, highlighting the college’s commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and sporting talent. The event truly reflected the vibrant sporting culture of SACAS.

New Badminton and Squash Court Opened at SACAS.
The Department of Physical Education at S.A. College of Arts & Science proudly inaugurated its new Badminton and Squash Court on 5th February 2026. The Badminton Court was inaugurated by Thiru D. Duraiswamy, Chairman, through a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event was attended by several dignitaries including Thiru D. Dhasarathan, Tmt. D. Saraswathi, Dr. S. Aravind, Mr. D. Sabarinath, Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Correspondent ,Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Principal and Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, Director.
The Squash Court was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Yuva Day alan, an eminent World Sports Champion. The ceremony also included the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing a positive beginning.
To celebrate the occasion, special showcase matches in Badminton and Squash were organized. These matches displayed the importance of sportsmanship, fitness, and talent among students.
The inauguration of these modern courts marks an important step in improving sports facilities and encouraging students to actively participate in physical activities and develop a strong sporting culture.

Celebrating Team Spirit: State-Level Inter-School Staff Tournament 2026 at SACAS.
The Department of Physical Education at S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organized a State-Level Inter-School Staff Tournament on 31 January 2026 and 1 February 2026. The event brought together staff members from different schools to participate in exciting sports competitions.
The tournament included several Men’s events such as Cricket, Volleyball, Chess, Table Tennis, and Tug of War. Women participants competed in Throwball, Chess, and Tenkoit. A total of 390 staff members actively took part in the tournament and displayed their talents and skills.
The event created a lively and energetic atmosphere as participants competed with enthusiasm and true sportsmanship. It also provided a wonderful platform for staff members to relax, interact, and build friendly relationships with others. The tournament was filled with fun, teamwork, and memorable moments.
Overall, the event was a grand success and highlighted the importance of physical fitness, unity, and healthy competition among educators.

77th Republic Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour at SACAS
The Department of Physical Education of S. A. College of Arts & Science organised the 77th Republic Day celebration with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on the college campus. The programme began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, followed by a parade. In her Republic Day address, Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar highlighted the significance of the Indian Constitution, democratic values, and the responsibility of citizens in nation-building and empathy.
A special address was delivered by Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, Director, who inspired the gathering by emphasizing discipline, unity, and commitment to national progress. The celebration was further enlivened by a vibrant patriotic dance performance, which captivated the audience and reflected the rich cultural heritage and love for the nation among the students.

The Department of Physical Education, S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a State-Level Inter-School Sports Meet for Boys and Girls from 19 January 2026 to 23 January 2026 at SACAS Ground. The tournament featured boys’ events in Cricket, Futsal, and Kho-Kho, and Throwball for girls.
The sports meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from 61 schools across the state. Students displayed excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive spirit throughout the events, making the tournament lively and successful.
The prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. S. Ganapathy, IQAC Coordinator, and Dr. A. Ramakrishnan, Director of Physical Education, who congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of all participants. The event promoted physical fitness, discipline, and unity among school students.

SACAS Team Secures Third Place in All India Football Tournament.
The 20th All India Football Tournament was held at Walajah, near Vellore, from 15 January to 17 January. The tournament witnessed strong competition from teams across the country, showcasing talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Our team delivered an excellent performance throughout the tournament and proudly secured third place. The players displayed great determination, discipline, and coordination on the field, earning appreciation from organizers and spectators alike.
As a reward for their achievement, the team received a cash prize of Rs. 30,000. This success reflects the hard work and commitment of the players and support staff. The achievement has brought pride and motivation to the institution and encourages continued excellence in sports activities.

S.A. College of Arts & Science added another feather to its cap as D. Jothi Lakshmi, a women’s long-distance athlete from III B.Com (General), won the bronze medal in the women’s half marathon (21 km). She achieved this feat at the Dr. Sir A. L. Mudaliar Golden Jubilee Commemoration and University of Madras Inter-Zone Athletic Meet, held on 24 December 2025 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Competing against strong athletes from various zones, Jothi Lakshmi displayed exceptional endurance, determination, and discipline to secure the third position in the prestigious event. Her achievement reflects her consistent training and commitment to excellence in athletics.
The Department of Physical Education and Sports, along with the college management, congratulated her on this remarkable accomplishment and appreciated her for bringing pride to the institution.
