SACAS Celebrates World Entrepreneurship Day with Inspiring ED Orientation Program.

S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the Institutions Innovation Council (IIC), ED Cell, and Department of Bank Management, hosted an “ED Orientation Program” on August 5, 2025, at 10:30 AM in the SACAS Auditorium. The event celebrated World Entrepreneurship Day and featured Mr. A. Thomas, Marketing Executive at Pidilite Industries Ltd., Chennai, and Ms. L. Karpagavalli, a professional artist associated with Fevicryl.

Ms. Karpagavalli shared insights into creative art forms like Lipan Art Painting, Kerala Mural Painting, and Tanjore on Fabric Jewelry. She explained how Fevicryl products can be used to create marketable artwork, encouraging students to explore art as a business.

Key topics included creative business skills, product usage, marketing, financial management, customer engagement, and workshop planning. Around 147 students and 3 faculty members attended, gaining valuable knowledge to turn their creativity into Entrepreneurial ventures.

The S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), the Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC), and the Department of Commerce (Bank Management), jointly organized an Awareness Session on “Building YUKTI Innovations: Productizing Campus Ideas & Boosting Innovation Funding for Startup Opportunities.”

The session aimed to encourage students to translate innovative campus ideas into viable startup ventures and to understand funding opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship.

A total of 76 students and 3 faculty members participated in the session and benefited from the insightful discussions and practical guidance provided during the program.

SACAS ED Mart 2K25: A Thriving Marketplace of Innovation and Talent! On February 1, 2025 – The S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS) Entrepreneurship Development Cell, in association with IIC & Indian Knowledge System, successfully hosted "SACAS - ED Mart 2K25" at the SACAS Ground. The event, held from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, provided a dynamic platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their talents and business acumen. With over 173 stalls, the marketplace featured a diverse range of products, including food, accessories, stationery, gaming items, pet supplies, herbal products, and more. The event attracted not only students but also external visitors, fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation.

Adding to the excitement, popular guest TTF Vasan and his crew graced the occasion, energizing the atmosphere with their presence. From the moment the event commenced at 8:30 AM, the venue was abuzz with enthusiasm, with students from various colleges actively participating in the entrepreneurial showcase.

Behind the scenes, the dedicated staff members of SACAS played a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth execution of the event. Their efforts, along with the discipline maintained by stall owners and participants, created a professional and vibrant environment.

The success of ED Mart 2K25 stands as a testament to the creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurial spirit of young minds. A heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this event a grand success!

S.A. College of Arts & Science in association with ED Cell, Institutions Innovation Council (IIC), IKS,EDII-TN & Department of Commerce(Bank Management) jointly  organized  a “GUEST LECTURE ON ENTREPRENEURSHIP & INNOVATION AWARENESS”. 

The event took place in Preview Theatre  on 10th  January 2025, at 12:00 p.m. onwards. The Chief Guest Mr. P.A Joseph Dinesh, a Financial Wellness Coach with expertise in Financial Industry. As a dedicated professional and educator, Mr. P.A Joseph Dinesh aimed to help students to improve their skills in financial areas. In this session, more than 196 students and 7 faculty members participated. The following contents were discussed in the session.

    • Enhancing financial literacy: Equipping participants with foundational knowledge to understand and manage personal finances effectively.

On December 20, 2024, S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, and the Department of Bank Management, hosted the much-anticipated ED MART at the SACAS campus. This vibrant event aimed to inspire budding entrepreneurs, with a special focus on women entrepreneurs from self-help groups (SHGs).

The event was a dynamic celebration of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, providing an empowering platform for entrepreneurs to connect, showcase their ventures, and learn from each other. It served not only as a marketplace but also as a testament to the college's commitment to fostering innovation and empowering aspiring entrepreneurs.

Highlights of the Event:

  • The college received an overwhelming response, exceeding expectations in terms of participation and engagement.
  • A total of 40 stalls were set up by participants, including both self-help groups and non-self-help groups.
  • The enthusiastic participation of staff and students added to the event’s success. They actively visited the stalls and supported the entrepreneurs by purchasing products with great enthusiasm.

The success of the SACAS SHG MELA demonstrates the college's dedication to promoting entrepreneurship and supporting community-driven initiatives. This event not only provided a platform for entrepreneurial growth but also reinforced the significance of collaboration and community support in fostering innovation.


3 Days ED Painting Workshop

The Department of Commerce (Bank Management) of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a three-day “Fabric Painting Workshop” in association with Fevicryl Pidilite Limited.

The workshop was conducted by Ms. L. Karpagavalli, Fevicryl Certified Professional Trainer and Professional Artist, who guided the students through the Fevicryl Free Art & Craft Workshop series.

A total of 30 students from the college actively participated and benefited from the sessions, gaining hands-on experience and creative exposure in fabric painting techniques.

College of Arts & Science in association with Institutions Innovation Council (IIC), ED Cell and Department of Commerce (Bank Management) jointly organizes an “ED Orientation Program” celebrating an account of “world Entrepreneurship Day” (Udayamita Diwas). This Event took Place in the SACAS Auditorium on September 3rd, 2024, at 10 A.M. The Chief Guest, Ms. L. Karpagavalli, is a well-known professional artist associated with Fevicryl, a brand under Pidilite Industries Ltd. Fevicryl is recognized for its range of art and craft products, including paints and embellishments. As an artist working with Fevicryl, she would likely be involved in creating art using their products, possibly participating in workshops, demonstrations, or exhibitions. Her work would showcase how Fevicryl ‘s materials can be used creatively, often inspiring others in the art and craft community. Further, she is focusing on key elements such as Lipan Art Painting, Kerala Mural Painting and Tanjore on Fabric Jewelry. The aim of this program is to encourage the students to face the challenges of societal problems and how they can be dealt with in an entrepreneurial way. Creating this painting is very useful to enhance concentration, patience, creative skills, memory, systematic work practice etc. In this Session around 300 students & faculty participated and benefited. The academic for the year of 2024-2025, ED Cell, Students coordinators were awarded by Chief Guest, Ms. L. Karpagavalli along with ED Cell SPOC Dr. P. Pandian.

The following points were discussed in this session:

  • Creative Business Skills: How to turn artistic skills into a profitable business. This includes understanding market demand, pricing strategies, and how to build a brand.
  • Product Utilization: Demonstrating how to effectively use Fevicryl products in art projects, which can also help in creating unique, marketable items.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Techniques for promoting artwork and crafts, including leveraging social media, building a portfolio, and networking within the art community.
  • Financial Management: Basics of managing finances for an art business, including budgeting, investment, and expense tracking.
  • Customer Engagement: Strategies for building and maintaining customer relationships, including providing excellent customer service and understanding customer needs.
  • Workshop Planning: How to organize and conduct workshops or classes, which can be a revenue stream for artists.

The Department of Commerce (BM) and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of SACAS jointly conducted a Shiny Aari Work Designing Workshop. The session was guided by Ms. Yuvasre, a specialist in Aari work designing. Around 10 students from SACAS actively participated in the workshop.


Skill Development Class Report: Tailoring Class – Chudidar Cutting

Date: 11.03.2024 – 15.03.2024

The Chudidar Cutting Classes were conducted as part of the proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Equitas Trust, with the objective of enriching the skill set of students and staff members.

This initiative aimed to empower participants by providing practical knowledge in garment construction and tailoring techniques. The primary goal of the program was to equip attendees with the essential skills required to proficiently cut and stitch chudidar garments.

Through hands-on training and interactive sessions, the program sought to enhance the employability, creativity, and self-sufficiency of the participants.


Impact Lecture Series And MOE'S Innovation Cell (MIC),AICTE on 06.03.2023

S. A. College of Arts & Science in association with IIC organize an "Impact Lecture Series" sponsored by MOE'S Innovation Cell (MIC), AICTE. The Resource person for the session will be Dr. Meenakshi . M, associate professor of Department of Accounting and finance, Patrician college of arts and science on 06/03/2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Dr. Meenakshi. M, associate professor of Department of Accounting and finance, Patrician college of arts and science has qualified with M. Com , M.Phil. Ph.D. and NET in Commerce and had over 14 years of experience under the accounting field. She has attended various seminars and conferences like reforms in the globalized: New vistas , intellectual property rights etc. She has involved in career enrichment courses like NPTEL, annual refresher course etc. . In this session she has explained how brands have become more famous and ruling in the market. She has taken up the example of Zomato to explain the business model canvas.   She has highlighted the Zomato cost structure, online business, channels under business etc.
