The PG Department of Commerce , S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, successfully organized the academic programme titled “Art of Business Storytelling: Turning Ideas into Influence” on 02 March 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the SACAS Auditorium.
The programme was inaugurated by Ramesh Dugar, President of the Hindustan Chamber of Commerce, whose presence added great value to the occasion. The highlight of the event was the insightful special address delivered by Sivakumar Bellan, Business Mentor, who emphasized the power of storytelling in shaping brands, influencing decisions, and building meaningful business relationships. His session inspired students to think beyond numbers and strategies and to communicate ideas with clarity and impact.
The event also featured an engaging panel discussion with distinguished representatives from academia and industry, offering practical perspectives on integrating storytelling into professional practice. The highly interactive programme equipped students with valuable real-world insights, bridging academic learning with industry expectations and strengthening their understanding of effective business communication.

Exploring India’s Intellectual Heritage – A Transformative IKS Educational Tour of SACAS to Pondicherry & Thanjavur.
The PG Department of Commerce (General), in association with the Central Library of S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a two-day educational tour on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) from 13th to 14th February 2025 for Commerce students. The visit covered prominent heritage and research centres including the French Institute of Pondicherry, Brihadeeswarar Temple, Thanjavur Palace Museum, and the Saraswathi Mahal Library, Thanjavur.
The programme was thoughtfully designed to provide academic exposure beyond the classroom and to deepen students’ understanding of India’s intellectual traditions. Students explored rare manuscripts, ancient documentation practices, temple architecture, and historical administrative and economic systems that shaped India’s scholarly heritage.
The tour successfully connected India’s cultural wisdom with modern commerce education, offering a meaningful and enriching learning experience for all participants.

The PG Department of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a career guidance programme titled “Career Guidance: A Roadmap to Success” on 06 February 2026. The programme was held at SF 13 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. The session aimed to help students identify suitable career paths and achieve professional success.
Ms. Devi Anand Raj, Proprietor of RPS Academy, served as the resource person. She stressed the importance of goal setting and proper career planning. The speaker explained various career opportunities available in the field of commerce. She also highlighted the need for skill development and continuous learning. Students were encouraged to understand their strengths and interests before choosing a career.
The session provided valuable information about higher education opportunities and professional courses. Practical examples were shared to make the session more effective. The programme was interactive, and students actively asked questions. Overall, the session was informative, motivating, and highly beneficial for students.

The PG Department of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science organised a Knowledge Sharing Session in collaboration with ISSM Business School. The session aimed to enhance students’ academic learning through industry-based knowledge and practical exposure.
The programme was conducted on 04 February 2026, from 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM, at SF-13. It provided an excellent platform for students to connect theoretical concepts with real-world business practices. The session focused on modern management ideas, professional expectations, and emerging business trends.
The session was led by Ms. Sashvika J, MBA, from ISSM Business School, Perungudi. She shared valuable insights from her academic and professional experience. Her interactive teaching style encouraged active student participation. She explained various career opportunities, skill development strategies, and practical applications of management principles.
Students showed great enthusiasm and interacted actively with the speaker. The session created a positive learning environment that promoted confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking.

Shandy Visit on Market Haggling Practices Organised SACAS
The PG Department of Commerce (General), S.A. College of Arts & Science, organised a Shandy Visit on “Market Haggling Practices” on 30 January 2026 at the Pallavaram Friday Market, Chennai, as part of its experiential and outcome-based learning initiatives. The academic visit aimed to provide students with practical exposure to traditional market systems and real-time business practices.
During the visit, students closely observed pricing mechanisms, negotiation strategies, buyer–seller interactions, and demand–supply dynamics prevalent in informal markets. The Pallavaram Friday Market, known for its vibrant trading environment and product diversity, offered an ideal setting for understanding micro-level business operations and consumer behaviour.
The field-based learning experience enabled students to connect classroom concepts such as market structures, consumer psychology, bargaining power, and price determination with real-world scenarios. Through observation and interaction, students enhanced their analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. The visit successfully bridged the gap between theory and practice, fostering critical thinking and holistic learning among commerce students.

From Scroll to Sale: Turning Clicks into Customers at SACAS On 29 January 2026, the Citizen Consumer Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the PG Department of Commerce , organised an informative guest lecture on “Digital Marketing: From Scroll to Sale.” The session was delivered by Ms. Punithalakshmi, Software Trainer at NIIT Ltd, Chennai. The programme aimed to give students practical knowledge about how digital platforms influence consumer behaviour and purchasing decisions.
The lecture focused on how users move from scrolling through social media, websites, and mobile applications to completing a purchase. The resource person explained the importance of content-driven engagement, creative storytelling, data analytics, and performance marketing. Various content formats such as reels, advertisements, and landing pages were discussed to show how they attract attention and improve conversion rates.
The session also highlighted the role of short-form videos and retargeting strategies in increasing user engagement and sales. Overall, the programme helped students understand the digital customer journey and the importance of converting online interest into real sales through effective digital marketing strategies.

National Level Inter-Collegiate Finance Summit 2025 Held at SACAS
S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS), Chennai, successfully organized the National Level Inter-Collegiate Finance Summit 2025 at the SACAS Theatre, Thiruverkadu. Conducted by the School of Commerce, the summit was themed “Financial Resilience and Sustainable Growth in a Dynamic Economy.” The event brought together students, faculty members, and delegates from various institutions, offering a vibrant platform for academic exchange and industry-oriented discussions aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 8, 9, and 12).
The summit featured three insightful academic sessions. Mr. V. S. Sundaresan, Former Executive Director, SEBI, addressed Sessions I and III, focusing on financial management, regulatory oversight, and securities market misconduct through case studies. Session II was delivered by the Chief Guest, Mr. Ravi Kumar, Company Secretary and Legal Consultant, who critically analyzed cryptocurrency and its impact on financial stability.
The summit strengthened industry-academia interaction and reinforced SACAS’s commitment to responsible financial leadership. The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks.

SACAS Promotes Digital Safety through Cyber Security Awareness Program.
The PG Department of Commerce of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized an Awareness Program on Cyber Security on 24th October 2025 at the college auditorium. The session was led by Mrs. P. Muthumari, Sub-Inspector of Police, IUCAW Wing, who educated students on cybercrimes, preventive measures, and the legal aspects of online safety.
The event was convened by Dr. P. Karthika, Head of the Department, and featured Ms. N. Zaina Mariyam as the Master of Ceremony. Students actively interacted during the session, learning how to protect themselves in the digital world. Around 250 students and faculty members attended the informative program.
The session empowered participants with knowledge on responsible digital practices and cyber ethics. It concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Dharani R, appreciating the expert speaker and the organizing team for the successful and enlightening program.

The celebration was filled with cultural performances, including music, dance, and drama, showcasing the creativity and talent of the students. Fun games and interactive activities added to the festive spirit, creating joy, laughter, and bonding between seniors and freshers.
The event not only highlighted the lively campus culture but also provided a platform for the new students to engage, interact, and feel at home. The auditorium echoed with applause and cheer, reflecting the enthusiasm of the SACAS community.
The Fresher’s Carnival truly embodied the spirit of inclusivity, talent, and togetherness, inspiring freshers to begin their academic journey with confidence and excitement.
