National Seminar on Health Rights Organized by Red Ribbon Club

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of S. A. College of Arts & Science hosted a national-level seminar titled "Take the Right Path: My Health, My Right" on 19-12-2024 to raise awareness about health rights, HIV/AIDS prevention, and the importance of informed health choices. The event emphasized empowering youth with knowledge about maintaining a balanced lifestyle and understanding their health rights.

The session commenced with Tamilthai Vazhthu, followed by a welcome address by Subash Sai Sudhan (I B.Com General). Chief Guest Mr. Arputhaneasan S, a renowned health activist, inaugurated the seminar, shedding light on health rights and their role in informed decision-making. Interactive discussions and games engaged the 65 participants from various departments, addressing issues like mental health, substance abuse, and sexual health.

The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Iren (I Psychology). Organizers urged participants to disseminate the insights gained, fostering a culture of health advocacy and empowerment.

Knowledge sharing session by Mr.V. Arulmozhi

The first session on 10/09/2024 was led by Mr.V. Arulmozhi, CFO-India Cluster In VA Tech Wabag Ltd.,. Mr.Arulmozhi shared his real life experiences with the students and motivated them to start their own venture, he insisted that it is better to be self employed than working as an employee. He emphasised the need to develop soft skills after identifying their own area of interest, as developing these skills will not only enhance ability to run a business but also contribute to overall personal development. The session was interactive .

Knowledge sharing session by Mr.U.Peter Sahaya Raj

The second session on 10/09/2024 was led by Mr.U.Peter Sahaya Raj CEO & MD. He enlightened the students with emerging trends in industries which is rapidly evolving, and the role of future managers who are expected to adapt and lead with a multifaceted skill set, critical thinking, creativity, and data-driven decision-making which are foundational, as businesses increasingly rely on digital technologies and AI. He also insisted that emotional intelligence (EQ) and social intelligence (SQ) are just as crucial as IQ. Mr.Peter emphasised that collaboration, empathy, and leadership are key in managing diverse teams and fostering innovation. Students actively participated in the session.

ED Cell and Department of Commerce (Bank Management) jointly organizes an “ED Orientation Program” celebrating an account of “world Entrepreneurship Day” (Udayamita Diwas) on 03.09.2024

S.A. College of Arts & Science in association with Institutions Innovation Council (IIC), ED Cell and Department of Commerce (Bank Management) jointly organizes an “ED Orientation Program” celebrating an account of “world Entrepreneurship Day” (Udayamita Diwas). This Event took Place in the SACAS Auditorium on September 3rd, 2024, at 10 A.M. The Chief Guest, Ms. L. Karpagavalli, is a well-known professional artist associated with Fevicryl, a brand under Pidilite Industries Ltd. Fevicryl is recognized for its range of art and craft products, including paints and embellishments. As an artist working with Fevicryl, she would likely be involved in creating art using their products, possibly participating in workshops, demonstrations, or exhibitions. Her work would showcase how Fevicryl ‘s materials can be used creatively, often inspiring others in the art and craft community. Further, she is focusing on key elements such as Lipan Art Painting, Kerala Mural Painting and Tanjore on Fabric Jewelry. The aim of this program is to encourage the students to face the challenges of societal problems and how they can be dealt with in an entrepreneurial way. Creating this painting is very useful to enhance concentration, patience, creative skills, memory, systematic work practice etc. In this Session around 300 students & faculty participated and benefited. The academic for the year of 2024-2025, ED Cell, Students coordinators were awarded by Chief Guest, Ms. L. Karpagavalli along with ED Cell SPOC Dr. P. Pandian.

The following points were discussed in this session:

  • Creative Business Skills: How to turn artistic skills into a profitable business. This includes understanding market demand, pricing strategies, and how to build a brand.
  • Product Utilization: Demonstrating how to effectively use Fevicryl products in art projects, which can also help in creating unique, marketable items.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Techniques for promoting artwork and crafts, including leveraging social media, building a portfolio, and networking within the art community.
  • Financial Management: Basics of managing finances for an art business, including budgeting, investment, and expense tracking.
  • Customer Engagement: Strategies for building and maintaining customer relationships, including providing excellent customer service and understanding customer needs.
  • Workshop Planning: How to organize and conduct workshops or classes, which can be a revenue stream for artists.


எஸ்.ஏ. கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் தமிழ்த்துறையும்,  நூலகத்துறையும் இணைந்து 'புத்தகம் பேசுது' என்ற நிகழ்ச்சி -29.08.2024

எஸ்.ஏ.கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரி மாணவர்களின் திறன்களை மேம்படுத்துவதில் முன்னணி வகிக்கிறது. மாணவர்கள் தங்கள் அறிவுத்திறனை மேம்படுத்த புத்தகங்களை வாசிப்பது முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்தது. அப்பழக்கம் தொடர்ச்சியான கற்றல் அனுபவத்தை மாணவர்களிடையே உருவாக்கும். அதைக் கருத்தில் கொண்டு மாணவர்களின் வாசிப்புத் திறனை மேம்படுத்தும் வண்ணம் எஸ்.ஏ. கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் தமிழ்த்துறையும்,  நூலகத்துறையும் இணைந்து 'புத்தகம் பேசுது' என்ற நிகழ்ச்சியை ஆகஸ்ட்  29,  2024 அன்று நண்பகல் 12 மணிக்குக் கல்லூரிக் கலையரங்கில் நடத்தியது. நிகழ்ச்சியின் சிறப்பு விருந்தினராக அண்ணா பல்கலைக்கழகப் பேராசிரியர் முனைவர் இ.கே.தி. சிவகுமார் அவர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு சிறப்பித்தார். 

     மாதந்தோறும் நடைபெற உள்ள இந்நிகழ்ச்சியின் முதல் நிகழ்வாகப்  பாரதியார் கவிதைகள் மற்றும் பாரதிதாசன் கவிதைகள் ஆகிய இரண்டு நூல்களை எட்டு மாணவர்கள் விமர்சனம் செய்து உரை நிகழ்த்தினர். பாரதியார்,  பாரதிதாசன் ஆகியோர் கவிதைகளில் மூழ்கி முத்தெடுத்த சிந்தனைகளை அவையின் முன்வைத்தனர். சிறப்பு விருந்தினர் மாணவர்களின் நூல் விமர்சனத்தை மகிழ்ச்சியாகக் கேட்டு ரசித்ததோடு, நூலின் முக்கியத்துவம், வாசிப்புப் பழக்கத்தால் உண்டாகும் அறிவு நுகர்வு, நூல்களை வாசித்துத்  தாம் பெற்ற நுண்ணறிவு ஆகியவற்றை மாணவர்களின் முன் பகிர்ந்து, பல்துறை நூல்களைப் படிப்பதற்கு மாணவர்களை வலியுறுத்தினார். பல நூல்களைப் பயின்று மிகச்சிறந்த கற்றல் அனுபவத்தைப் பெற மிகப்பெரும் உந்துசக்தியைத் தருவதாக இந்நிகழ்ச்சி அமைந்தது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.


Department of Accounting & Finance, the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals students organised on 16.08.2024

A state-level intercollegiate competition was held on August 16, 2024, in honour of Anti-Ragging Week, by the Department of Accounting & Finance, the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals, and the SACAS'ians Fin.Tech Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science. 

The department's students organised this event and used the topic of "ANTI RAGGING" to host a variety of on-stage and off-stage competitions, providing a venue for other college students to showcase their abilities. This demonstrates the students' dedication to raising awareness of the significance of this event among the youngsters who will be tomorrow's leaders. The anti-ragging banner was signed by participants, as required by the organising committee. Participants in the competition included students from a variety of colleges in and around Chennai. In just a minute, they provided an opportunity to showcase their other talents as well. The winners received trophies, while Guru Nanak College of Chennai wins the overall trophy. There was a formal vote of thanks to close the occasion.

SACAS Celebrates 78th Independence Day with Enthusiasm On August 15, 2024, S.A. College of Arts & Science celebrated the 78th Independence Day with the theme "Viksit Bharat," focusing on transforming India into a developed nation. The event commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, led by the Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. Sayi Satyavathi, Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar and Dr. S. Ganapathy, HoD of Corp. Sec. The celebration featured a special address by the Director and the Principal, and included a vibrant parade and cultural programmes. Highlights included a Silambam performance by state and district-level sports players, creating an energetic and patriotic atmosphere. The performances underscored the event's celebratory spirit and the theme of national development, engaging attendees in a festive and inspiring Independence Day celebration.

“Independence Day Celebrations for Young Minds"  On the eve of the 78th Independence Day, the NSS and UBA units of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a series of events on 14th August 2024 for primary school students from Kannampalayam and Mettupalayam. The celebrations included a variety of activities such as a fancy dress competition, speech contests, and sports events, all aimed at fostering a sense of patriotism and unity among the young participants. The event was met with enthusiastic participation, and the students displayed great creativity and talent. The initiative not only celebrated the spirit of independence but also provided the children with an opportunity to express themselves and develop their skills.

S.A College of Arts & Science, in association with UBA and NSS, organized a significant event on Organ Donation to mark World Organ Donation Day on August 13, 2024. The event, held at the SACAS Theatre from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M., featured Mr. R. Krishnan, Head of Computer Science with AI, as the chief guest. Mr. Krishnan delivered an insightful address on the importance of organ donation, highlighting its role in saving lives and the need for greater awareness and participation. The event was well-attended, fostering a sense of responsibility and encouraging students to pledge their support for this noble cause.
