S.A. College of Arts & Science Organizes Education Awareness Programme On 31st January 2025, The School of Management at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with UBA and IIC, organized an Education Awareness Programme on National Education Day at the Government School in Kannapalayam Village.

As part of the initiative, students from the School of Management engaged schoolchildren through games and activities to emphasize the importance of education. Additionally, they distributed books and stationery to encourage learning.

The school students enthusiastically participated in the activities, showcasing their talents and winning prizes. The Headmistress of the school appreciated the college students for their efforts in motivating young learners and fostering a positive learning environment.

This outreach programme successfully highlighted the significance of education and community engagement, leaving a lasting impact on the students of Kannapalayam Village.


Department of Homescience – Nutrition Food Service Management and Dietetics in association with F3 Nutrition club, Adyar Cancer institute,NSS and UBA is organising a free cancer screening camp on 09.01.2025

S.A. College's Free Cancer Screening Camp Empowers Women in Kannampalayam  by UBA, NSS & Department of NFSM&D Kannampalayam village witnessed a significant health initiative on January 9, 2025, as the Department of Home Science - Nutrition, Food Service Management, and Dietetics, in collaboration with the F3 Nutrition Club, Adyar Cancer Institute, NSS, and UBA, organized a free cancer screening camp at the Primary Health Centre.

Targeting women aged 30 to 60, the camp, held from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, saw the participation of 30 local women. Specialists from the Adyar Cancer Institute conducted screenings for cervical and breast cancer, emphasizing the importance of early detection.

The event featured interactive sessions on nutrition and preventive care, educating participants on maintaining a balanced diet to lower cancer risks. Women were also guided on regular health check-ups for effective cancer prevention.

This collaborative effort was lauded for raising public health awareness and providing essential medical services, empowering women to lead healthier lives.

SACAS Students Drive Awareness on Rural Development in Adopted Villages On November 23, 2024, students from S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS)—representing NSS, UBA, and SIRD & PR—organized an impactful awareness program during a Gram Sabha meeting in Kannampalayam and Metupalayam, villages adopted by the institution. The event, held from 10 AM to 1 PM, highlighted key government initiatives and empowered villagers to actively participate in rural development.

The program celebrated the contributions of sanitation workers and women self-help groups (SHGs) to community progress. Students educated villagers on disaster preparedness for the northeast monsoon, water quality under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and sustainable waste management practices under the Swachh Bharat Mission. They also promoted the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, encouraging youth to take advantage of skill development and employment opportunities.

The initiative demonstrated SACAS’s commitment to fostering community progress, earning praise from villagers and local leaders for bridging policies with grassroots action.

S.A. College of Arts & Science and Indian Oil Corporation Commemorate Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 Chennai, November 7, 2024 S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS), in partnership with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL), celebrated Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 with a prize distribution function, emphasizing integrity and transparency. The event commenced with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu by the college choir, followed by a lamp lighting ceremony. Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Principal of SACAS, warmly welcomed attendees and honored the distinguished guests.

Key speakers included Mr. M. Sudhakar, Executive Director (RS) at IOCL, who led the Vigilance Pledge, and Mr. D. Suresh Kumar, General Manager of Vigilance at IOCL, who delivered the Presidential Address. Mr. Vetri Selvakkumar, CGM of Corporate Communication at IOCL, provided an impactful Keynote Address on the significance of vigilance.

The event concluded with prize distribution, felicitation, and a heartfelt Vote of Thanks by Mr. M. Bhaskar, DGM of Vigilance at IOCL, followed by the National Anthem.

Cycleathon on Vigilance Awareness Week 2024 Organized by NSS & UBA of S.A College of Arts & Science  On November 6th, 2024, in celebration of Vigilance Awareness Week, a cycleathon was organized by the NSS and UBA units of S.A College of Arts & Science. The event, aimed at promoting awareness about integrity and vigilance, saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 200 students. The cycleathon commenced at 7:00 AM from the college campus and covered a scenic route through UBA-adopted villages, including Mettupalayam, Banavedu, Arunachala Nagar, Kannampalayam, and Melpakkam. 

The event concluded at 9:00 AM, with students showcasing their commitment to promoting social causes. The cycleathon not only encouraged physical fitness but also highlighted the importance of vigilance in maintaining transparency and accountability in society. The successful event was a collaborative effort by the NSS and UBA teams, further strengthening the college's commitment to community engagement and awareness programs.


UBA and NSS students participated in the special Grama Sabha meeting at UBA adopted Kannapalayam Panchayat on 02.10.2024

UBA and NSS Volunteers of S.A. College of Arts & Science, along with the public of Kannapalayam and Metupalayam villages. On the eve of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday, a Grama Sabha was organized at the Community Hall in Kannapalayam, bringing together the UBA (Unnat Bharat Abhiyan) and NSS (National Service Scheme) volunteers of S.A. College of Arts & Science, along with residents of Kannampalayam and Metupalayam villages. The event focused on various social issues, in line with the values of Mahatma Gandhi, promoting community well-being and sustainable development.

The first point of discussion was child abuse awareness, where participants stressed the urgent need to address this critical issue. Volunteers and local leaders shared information on safeguarding measures, legal protections, and the importance of education in preventing abuse. Special emphasis was placed on spreading awareness and providing support systems for victims and their families. The Child Protection Pledge was taken, with a special focus on ensuring children's safety and well-being.

Next, attention was directed towards road issues in the village. Residents highlighted the poor state of the roads, which poses challenges to daily activities and transportation. The community members called for immediate repairs and maintenance to ensure safe and accessible roads for all.

The volunteers also worked on compiling a list of physically challenged individuals in the area. This initiative aimed to ensure that people with disabilities receive the necessary governmental support and assistance. Volunteers gathered relevant data and discussed further measures to improve their quality of life.

A speech was delivered on Mahatma Gandhi, commemorating his contributions to the nation and his emphasis on rural development and community service. His teachings on non-violence, equality, and self-reliance were highlighted as guiding principles for addressing local issues and fostering unity within the village.

The discussion then shifted to garbage issues, a growing concern in both Kannampalayam and Metupalayam villages. The participants talked about the need for better waste management practices, with a focus on regular clean-up initiatives and educating villagers on proper garbage disposal.

Two students from UBA have been awarded a token travel allowance of 200 by the President of the Panchayat, Mr. Aathi Kesavan in recognition of their active participation during the campaign.

In recognition of their efforts, sanitary workers were honored with mementos by the President of the Panchayat, Mr. Aathi Kesavan.

The Grama Sabha concluded with a commitment to improving the overall quality of life in the villages, following the principles of Mahatma Gandhi. Volunteers and villagers pledged to work together on resolving these key issues, fostering a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive community 


Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and the National Service Scheme (NSS) organized Human Chain Awareness on World Ozone Day on 16.09.2024

Human Chain Awareness on World Ozone Day, 16th September 2024, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and the National Service Scheme (NSS) of S.A. College of Arts & Science jointly organized a Human Chain event at the college entrance. The initiative aimed to raise public awareness about the Montreal Protocol, ozone layer depletion, and the impact of climate change.

200 students participated enthusiastically, holding innovative placards with creative slogans and messages. The placards highlighted the dangers of ozone depletion, promoted the significance of the Montreal Protocol, and encouraged sustainable practices to reduce the carbon footprint and mitigate climate change.

The human chain was formed at a strategic location visible to the public, creating a powerful visual display of commitment to the environment. The messages on the placards captured attention, spreading awareness on the crucial steps needed to protect the ozone layer and combat climate change.

At the conclusion of the event, all participants took a pledge to protect the environment, commit to climate action, and adopt practices that support the healing of the ozone layer and reduce harmful emissions.

Purpose of the Event:

The event aimed to:

Spread awareness on the Montreal Protocol and the ongoing fight against ozone depletion.

Promote understanding of the connection between ozone layer protection and climate action.

Encourage sustainable living and responsible consumption of resources.

The active involvement of the students, along with their creativity and commitment, made the event highly successful. The event ended on a positive note with a collective pledge, reinforcing the role of youth in driving climate action and environmental protection.

The collaboration between Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and NSS on World Ozone Day not only raised awareness but also inspired collective action, marking an important contribution to the global efforts in ozone layer protection and climate change mitigation.

கிராமங்களில் தேசிய ஊட்டச்சத்து மாதத்தை ஒட்டி ஊட்டச்சத்து மற்றும் உணவு சார் விழிப்புணர்வு ஊர்வலத்தை ஏற்பாடு செய்து நடத்தியது. கல்லூரியின் தாளாளர் திரு.ப.வெங்கடேஷ் ராஜா மற்றும் கல்லூரி இயக்குநர் முனைவர் சாய் சத்யவதி கல்லூரியின் முதல்வர் முனைவர் மாலதி செல்வக்குமார் ஆகியோர்களின் வழிகாட்டுதலில்  இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் 100 மாணவர்கள் கலந்து கொண்டு உணவு மற்றும் ஊட்டச்சத்து விழிப்புணர்வு குறித்த விளம்பரப்

பதாகைகளை கைகளில் ஏந்தி முழக்கமிட்டு ஊர்வலமாக நடந்து சென்று விழிப்புணர்வை ஊட்டினர். இந்நிகழ்ச்சியின் தொடக்க விழாவில் கண்ணபாளையம் ஊராட்சி மன்றத் தலைவர் திரு ஆதி கேசவன், மாமன்ற உறுப்பினர் திரு பகவதி கண்ணன் மற்றும் திரு முத்துகிருஷ்ணன் ஆகியோர் கலந்து கொண்டனர். இரு கிராமங்களிலும் பொதுமக்கள் மாணவர்களின் ஊர்வலத்தில் வெளியிட்ட விழிப்புணர்வு வாசகங்களைக் கண்டு உடல் நலம் காக்கும் ஊட்டச்சத்து குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வு பெற்றனர். இந்நிகழ்ச்சிக்கான விரிவான ஏற்பாட்டை கல்லூரி நிர்வாகம் மிகச் சிறப்பாகச் செய்திருந்தது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.

“Independence Day Celebrations for Young Minds"  On the eve of the 78th Independence Day, the NSS and UBA units of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a series of events on 14th August 2024 for primary school students from Kannampalayam and Mettupalayam. The celebrations included a variety of activities such as a fancy dress competition, speech contests, and sports events, all aimed at fostering a sense of patriotism and unity among the young participants. The event was met with enthusiastic participation, and the students displayed great creativity and talent. The initiative not only celebrated the spirit of independence but also provided the children with an opportunity to express themselves and develop their skills.
