Bridging Sustainability through Language: National Seminar on ESG and Inclusive Development at SACAS.
The National Seminar on “Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Transformation through Regional Language Translation: Pathways to Inclusive Sustainability” was held on 30th and 31st January 2026 at SACAS Theatre, S.A. College of Arts & Science. The program was organized by the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology, Ministry of Education, Government of India, in collaboration with SACAS.
The seminar began with a welcome address by Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Principal, who acknowledged the support of the Correspondent, Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, and Director, Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi. The dignitaries included Shri Shalandra Singh, Dr. Ashok N. Selwatkar, Ms. Mercy Lalrohluo Hmar, and Prof. Dhananjay Singh. Mr. Krishnan R. presented an overview of the seminar, highlighting the importance of regional languages in ESG awareness. Shri Shalandra Singh and Ms. Mercy Lalrohluo Hmar explained CSTT’s initiatives, including the SHABD portal and multilingual technical glossaries.
The technical sessions featured expert speakers. Dr. Nagarajan S discussed environmental pollution challenges. Dr. Venkatesan highlighted Tamil literature’s role in promoting sustainability. Ms. Aarthi G emphasized eco-inclusive policies and social justice. Prof. Madhivanan explained biodiversity conservation. CMA Rakesh Shankar Ravisankar spoke about ESG reporting in industries.
On the second day, Dr. S. Vijay presented awareness and intervention strategies for autism. Dr. R. Balagurunathan discussed “One Health” and microbiology research integrating Tamil knowledge systems. Mr. Ilanchezhian focused on disaster management and climate action. Mr. G. Thangaraj highlighted environmental awareness programmes and community participation.
The seminar concluded with the release of “The Fundamental Glossary to Chemistry,” marking a significant step in promoting scientific knowledge through regional language translation and inclusive sustainability.
