The Central Library of S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organized a special talk in commemoration of National Librarians’ Day 2026. The event aimed to foster awareness among students regarding the significance of reading habits and the strategic use of library resources to excel in competitive examinations.
Event Proceedings
The programme commenced with the Tamil Thai Vaazhthu, setting a respectful and cultural tone. Following this, Dr. G. Muruganandham, Senior Librarian of the college, extended a warm welcome and introduced the guest speakers.
The dignitaries felicitated the resource persons, Dr. S. Manikandan, Assistant Librarian and Information Officer at Anna Centenary Library, Chennai, and Vice President of SALIS, and Dr. P. Mohanathan, Librarian & Assistant Information Officer. Both have vast experience in academic and public libraries and have contributed significantly to the field of Library and Information Science.
The event featured a special address by the Principal and Dr. S. Ganapathy, Co-ordinator of IQAC, emphasizing the vital role of libraries in supporting academic pursuits, research, career advancement, and lifelong learning. Their speeches underscored how effective utilization of library resources can be a game-changer for students preparing for competitive exams.
