SA Film Academy (SAFA), a part of S.A. Institutions, Chennai, in association with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, conducted a five-day workshop titled “Build the World: Production Design Workshop” from 17 to 21 August 2026

The SA Film Academy (SAFA), a part of S.A. Institutions, Chennai, in association with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, conducted a five-day workshop titled “Build the World: Production Design Workshop” from 17 to 21 August 2026 at the SACAS Theatre, S.A. College of Arts & Science. The workshop brought together students from across India, providing them with valuable exposure to the creative and technical aspects of production design.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. S. H. Sheik Mohamed, Head of the Department of Visual Communication, followed by an overview of the course by Prof. R. D. Balaji, Director, SAFA. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr. S. Anbalagan, Principal, S.A. College of Arts & Science.

The workshop was led by Ms. Sapna Chandra, Course Director, Production Designer and FTII alumna. The sessions focused on space construction, set design, art direction, and visual storytelling, offering students practical insights into creating meaningful cinematic environments. The workshop enriched students’ understanding of production design and inspired them to explore new creative possibilities in filmmaking.
