The Department of Accounting & Finance, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized its Department Club Inauguration along with a guest lecture on “Finance 5.0: How AI and FinTech are Transforming the Accountant’s Career” on 10 August 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium.

The session was led by Dr. G. Purushothaman, Assistant Professor & Head, P.G. Department of Commerce, who shared valuable insights into the rapidly changing fields of Artificial Intelligence, Financial Technology, and accounting. He explained how emerging technologies are transforming traditional accounting practices and creating new opportunities for finance professionals.

The lecture highlighted the growing importance of digital skills, adaptability, analytical thinking, and continuous learning in the modern accounting profession. Students gained a better understanding of how AI and FinTech are shaping financial services and changing the expectations of future accountants.

The programme, convened by Dr. P. Karthika, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Accounting & Finance, provided an enriching academic platform and encouraged students to prepare confidently for technology-driven careers in Finance 5.0.

The Entrepreneur Development Cell (ED Cell), in association with IQAC, S.A. College of Arts & Science, inaugurated the Entrepreneurial Awareness Programme 2026–2027 on 4 August 2026 at the College Seminar Hall. The programme aimed to inspire students to embrace innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership while encouraging them to explore entrepreneurship as a rewarding career path.

The event featured Mrs. Saranya Rajendran, Founder of Thinai Organics, who shared her inspiring entrepreneurial journey and highlighted the importance of perseverance, innovation, sustainability, and turning ideas into successful ventures. Ms. Jayashree Ranganathan also addressed the students, emphasizing continuous learning, leadership, adaptability, and professional growth in today's competitive world.

Students from various departments actively participated in the interactive sessions, gaining valuable insights into startup culture, entrepreneurship, and career opportunities. The programme motivated aspiring entrepreneurs to think creatively and develop a solution-oriented mindset.

The inauguration marked the beginning of a series of entrepreneurial initiatives planned for the academic year, reaffirming the institution's commitment to nurturing future entrepreneurs, innovators, and responsible leaders.

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), S.A. College of Arts & Science, Thiruverkadu, organized a Guest Lecture on "Emerging Trends in Auditing and Corporate Governance" on 05 August 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium. The programme was convened by Dr. P. Karthika, Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance.

The session was led by CA A. S. Deephika, Chartered Accountant, who served as the Resource Person. She delivered an insightful presentation on the evolving landscape of auditing, corporate governance, ethical responsibilities of auditors, digital transformation, and emerging career opportunities in the accounting profession. Through practical examples and real-world case studies, she highlighted the significance of transparency, accountability, and technology in modern auditing practices. The interactive session encouraged active student participation and clarified several industry-related concepts. The programme concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, followed by the Vote of Thanks, leaving participants enriched with valuable professional insights.

Shining Beyond Limits: THIGAZH 2026 Inspires Confidence and Inclusion at SACAS.

S.A. College of Arts & Science hosted the zonal selections of “Beyond The Limit – THIGAZH 2026” on 19 April 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium. Organized by SRP Foundation, the CSR wing of Shree Renga Polyester Pvt. Ltd., in collaboration with Brainchild Rehab Centre, the event featured a joyful ramp walk for children with special needs aged 5 to 18.

The highlight was the confident and charming ramp walk by the children, which filled the auditorium with applause and happiness. The event created a safe and supportive space for participants to express themselves and showcase their talents.

Parents appreciated the opportunity given to their children, noting improved confidence and social interaction. Distinguished guests, including Ms. K. Jayashree Senthil, Dr. L. Vishnu, Dr. G. Purushothaman, and Dr. Arun Kumar Malayappan, encouraged the participants with inspiring words.

The event successfully promoted inclusion, boosted self-esteem, and celebrated the unique abilities of every child.

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS’IANS FinTech Club, organized an extension activity titled “Hearts at Home” on 9th April 2026 at 7:30 p.m. at Natchatira Old Age Home, Numbal & Valasaravakkam.

The primary objective of this initiative was to instill a sense of social responsibility among students and to extend love, care, and emotional support to the elderly residents of the old-age home. The program also aimed to bridge the generation gap by fostering meaningful interaction between students and senior citizens through compassion and service.

During the visit, students actively engaged with the residents through friendly conversations, cultural performances, and interactive games. These activities brought immense joy and warmth to the inmates, making them feel valued, respected, and cared for. As a gesture of kindness and support, students also distributed essential items along with refreshments.

The atmosphere throughout the program was filled with positivity, empathy, and mutual respect. The experience created memorable moments for both students and residents, strengthening emotional bonds and spreading happiness. The visit not only uplifted the spirits of the elderly but also provided students with valuable insights into the importance of compassion, gratitude, and community service in today’s world.

The program concluded with heartfelt feedback from the residents, followed by a vote of thanks to all organizers and participants for making the event meaningful and impactful. “Hearts at Home” was a successful initiative that enriched humanitarian values among students while bringing smiles and comfort to the elderly.

Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) of S.A College of Arts & Science, organized a guest lecture in collaboration with SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'IANS FinTech Club on "Blue Economy & Biodiversity: Unlocking Financial Opportunities in Water Sustainability" at SACAS Auditorium on 9 th April 2026 from 12.00 PM to 1.00 PM. The event intended to make students aware of the blue economy concept and its financial scope and importance of conservation of bio-diversity. The session sought to bridge the gap between environment and business and to identify future investment and business opportunities that sustainable management of water resources entails. The guest speaker, Dr. Padmaja Priyadarshini, Managing Director, M/s Home Plan Guru Civil Consultant Pvt. Ltd., delivered an informative and interesting lecture, providing valuable insights into the importance of conserving the aquatic ecosystem and how a sustainable approach would yield long-term economic benefits. She laid special emphasis on the synergy between business, economic growth and conservation while addressing critical issues like water resource management, sustainable infrastructures and development projects. Dr. Padmaja Priyadarshini emphasized business and career opportunities such as green financing and eco-entrepreneurship, and inspired students to consider sustainable practices as a integral part of any future venture. She illustrated these business and financial opportunities with real-life examples and case studies, and how it could provide benefits to businesses as well as the society. There was a lively discussion session that followed with students asking thought-provoking questions about how commerce students could be successful contributors and beneficiaries to this emerging sector. The session ended with a vote of thanks.

The Department of Commerce(Accounting & Finance), S.A College of Arts & Science has, in association with SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACAS’IANS FinTech club, successfully organized the guest lecture on "Startup India & Student Entrepreneurs: Unlocking Seed Fund Opportunities" at 10.00 a.m to 11.00 a.m on 9 th April 2026 at SACAS auditorium. The lecture aimed at enhancing the knowledge of the students on the burgeoning field of the Indian start up arena and its available seed funding facilities for young and aspiring entrepreneurs. The session received a tremendous amount of enthusiasm and interest from the student fraternity for innovation, entrepreneurship and startup development.

The guest speaker for the session was Dr. E. Baskaran, Joint Director, Tamil Nadu Startup and Innovation Mission. With a wide array of experience and vast knowledge on the development and nurture of innovation based startups throughout the state, the speaker, in his address.  Dr.E Baskaran shared useful and practical tips on the entire Start up India framework and its relevance to state innovation and nurturing young entrepreneurship at S.A College. He enlightened the importance of innovation and stressed on ways to convert their dreams and innovations into a business. The speaker stressed on the various scheme provisions in the start up India initiatives, seed funding assistance, various incubating facilities, mentorship avenues available for student entrepreneurship, and also detailed on the various steps to gain start up recognition and to avail fund. The session also presented real-time case studies and success stories which were a great motivation for the students to be entrepreneurs. The interaction session with the students addressed all their doubts on fund acquisition, validating ideas, registration processes of their business, among other things. The program ended with high spirits and motivation for students.

The Department of Accounting & Finance, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a Guest lecture on “Innovations in Solar Technology and Startup Opportunities” on 9th April 2026 at the SACAS Preview Theatre. The session was led by Mr. T.S. Ramesh, Founder & Managing Partner of Solar Catalyst.

He explained recent advancements in solar technology, including improved efficiency and practical applications. He also highlighted how solar energy is transforming the current energy sector. The session focused on entrepreneurial opportunities in renewable energy, guiding students on funding sources, government support, and business challenges.

Students actively participated in the interactive session, gaining valuable insights and clarification. The lecture inspired many to explore startups in solar energy. Overall, the session was highly informative and encouraged students to think innovatively about sustainable business .

The Department of Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a Tree Sapling Plantation Drive on April 7, 2026, at Kannapalayam, the institution’s adopted village. The programme was conducted in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals, SACAS’ians FinTech Club, and SANS Animal Welfare Trust.
Held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., the initiative aimed to promote sustainability and raise awareness about afforestation. Faculty members, students, and volunteers actively participated in planting saplings, contributing to the village’s green cover.
Representatives from SANS Animal Welfare Trust highlighted the importance of ecological balance and environmental protection. The event reflected the institution’s commitment to social responsibility.

The programme concluded with a pledge to protect nature, successfully encouraging students to engage in community service and environmental conservation.

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACAS’IANS FinTech Club, organized a Hands-on Training Workshop on Self Defence for Girls on 2nd April 2026 at 10:00 AM at the SACAS Campus.

The primary objective of the workshop was to empower girl students by equipping them with essential self-defence skills. It aimed to enhance their confidence, self-awareness, and ability to handle challenging situations effectively.

The workshop was conducted by the Honourable Chief Guest, Mr. V. P. Venkatesh, an illustrious martial arts expert who holds prestigious Black Belt certifications in Karate (6th Dan), Taekwondo (1st Dan), and Kickboxing (1st Dan).

A total of 79 students actively participated in the workshop and greatly benefited from the practical training session. The program was highly informative, engaging, and impactful, leaving participants more confident and aware of personal safety measures.

During the session, students were trained in essential self-defence techniques such as blocking, escaping, and maintaining presence of mind in critical situations. They were also guided on how to respond effectively to potential threats and manage difficult circumstances with confidence.

Overall, the workshop was a great success, providing valuable knowledge and practical exposure that will help students ensure their personal safety and well-being.
