The Department of Accounting and Finance through its partnership with SACASian Fin Tech Club organized an industrial visit to Indian Institute of Technology IIT Madras which provided students with practical experience to improve their academic and business career development.
The visit provided a complete Campus Tour which enabled students to experience one of India’s top educational research institutions. The tour included outside observations of significant structures, which included the Administrative Building, Central Library, Gajendra Circle, Himalaya Mess, and the Stadium to demonstrate to students the extensive infrastructure and meticulously designed campus space of IIT Madras.
Students received short tours of the Heritage Centre, which displays the institute's historical achievements and operational past, and the Centre for Innovation. Students and faculty members displayed their research work through various startup initiatives and innovative projects that they developed. The visits motivated participants to develop original ideas and pursue their entrepreneurial goals.
The campus tour took about 2 to 2.30 hours because students spent time with guides and coordinators to ask questions while they learned about the academic programs and research activities and campus life at IIT Madras.
OutCome:
The industrial visit brought valuable information to participants who gained practical training through the experience. The students developed new insights, which helped them understand actual business situations, and the case studies motivated them to pursue their studies.

Guest Lecture Highlights Financial Awareness and Industry Readiness at SACAS.
The Department of Accounting & Finance, S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACAS’ians Fin.Tech Club, successfully organized a series of Guest Lectures on 27th January 2026 at the SACAS Theatre and SACAS Auditorium.
The first session, “Financial Scams: Lessons from Famous Indian Cases” (12:00 PM–1:00 PM), was delivered by Mrs. U. Suganya Udayasankar, Advocate, High Court. She explained major Indian financial scam cases, highlighting legal, ethical, and financial implications, common fraud patterns, and the importance of vigilance and ethical compliance. The second session, “Expectations of Industry Professionals from Accounting Graduates” (1:00 PM–2:00 PM), was handled by Mrs. Nagalakshmi Chandrasekar, B.Com, MLM, Certified POSH Trainer, who shared insights on industry-required skills, professional attitude, and workplace expectations.
Earlier, a lecture on “Consumer Protection: Rights, Remedies, and Responsibilities” (9:30 AM–10:30 AM) was delivered by Dr. M. Selvaraj, National Working President & CEO, Consumer Confederation of India, creating strong awareness on consumer rights and legal remedies. The programmes greatly enriched students’ practical knowledge and professional preparedness.

CITIZEN SENSE: Building Consumer Awareness at S.A. College of Arts & Science.
The Department Accounting & Finance, S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals, SACAS’ians Fin.Tech Club, and the Citizen Consumer Club, successfully organized CITIZEN SENSE – “Awareness Begins With You” on 27th January 2026 at the SACAS Campus, from 9:00 a.m. onwards. The programme aimed to create awareness on consumer rights, responsibilities, ethical consumption, and informed decision-making.
The event was graced by eminent resource persons from the Consumer Confederation of India (CCI), Dr. Anant Sharma, National Chairman, and Dr. M. Selvaraj, National Working President & CEO, along with 14 CCI members. Their sessions covered consumer protection laws, grievance redressal mechanisms, unfair trade practices, and digital frauds.
Students from various departments actively participated in creative competitions such as Adzap, Mime, Corporate Walk, Short Film, Speech, Essay Writing, Poster Designing, Reel Making, and Best out of Waste. The programme concluded with the Overall Trophy being awarded to the B.Com Computer Applications Department for their excellent performance.

The Department of B.Com Accounting & Finance of S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organized Quantum Quasar 3.0, a two-day inter-collegiate academic and cultural fest, on 8 and 9 January 2026. The event was conducted jointly with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS’ians Fin-tech Club. Designed to enhance students’ technical, analytical, and professional skills, the programme provided a vibrant platform for innovation, creativity, and competitive learning beyond the classroom.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 550 undergraduate and postgraduate students representing 30 colleges. A total of 32 onstage and offstage events, including quizzes, paper presentations, business plans, cultural performances, and creative competitions, tested students’ knowledge, teamwork, and leadership abilities. The programme was marked by excellent coordination between faculty and student organizers.
DG Vaishnav College emerged as the overall trophy winners, while SRMIST Ramapuram Campus secured the runners-up position.

ZERAG 2025: SACAS Unites Against Ragging with Powerful Awareness Events.
The Department of Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science, along with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS’ians Fin.Tech Club, hosted ZERAG – Anti-Ragging Week Events on August 13, 2025. Students from all departments were invited to take part in a series of impactful activities promoting a ragging-free campus.
The day began with a Human Chain by A&F students from SV School Gate to SAEC Gate, symbolizing unity and spreading public awareness. They also conducted an Anti-Ragging Rally from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., starting from the college entrance and proceeding to the arch. Students actively participated, holding placards displaying anti-ragging slogans. Following this, inter-departmental events based on the anti-ragging theme included Essay Writing, Poster Making (online/offline), Speech, Slogan Writing, and Short Film.
ZERAG aimed to educate students about the serious consequences of ragging while encouraging values like respect, empathy, and inclusion. The event not only raised awareness but also strengthened SACAS' commitment to safety and harmony, leaving a strong message across the campus.

SACAS Hosts Insightful Guest Lecture on GST and Its Impact on Indian Businesses
The Department of Accounting and Finance, S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS), in association with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACAS’ians Fin-tech Club, organised a guest lecture on “Chai to Cargo: How GST Rewrote the Rules for Every Indian Business” on December 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the College Auditorium.
The session was led by Ms. Haripriya Suman (B.Com, CA Intermediate), Accounting and Tax Analyst at Zolvit. The lecture aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and its practical implementation across industries.
Drawing from her professional experience, the resource person explained the “One Nation, One Tax” philosophy and highlighted how GST unified multiple indirect taxes into a single framework. She emphasized its role in reducing tax cascading, simplifying compliance, ensuring uniform taxation across states, and improving ease of doing business. The lecture proved highly informative and beneficial for students of commerce, accounting, and finance.

The Department of Accounting & Finance, S.A College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals, successfully organized two impactful international programs on 29th September 2025.
The International Faculty Development Program (IFDP), held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the SACAS Auditorium, centered on the theme “Proposal Writing Skills to Get Competitive Research Grants.” With 100 participants attending in hybrid mode, the session empowered faculty with practical techniques to craft clear, persuasive research proposals aligned with global priorities, enhancing their chances of securing funding.
Earlier in the day, the International Student Development Program (ISDP) took place at the Preview Theatre between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. Themed “Commercializing Innovation: How Science Drives Markets,” the program highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship, innovation, and global perspectives. Students gained valuable insights into bridging science with business and adopting a future-ready mindset.
Both sessions fostered learning, collaboration, and inspiration for academic and professional growth.











Golu Celebrations Day 7
The eighth day of the SACAS Golu was marked by serene devotion and cultural vibrance. In the morning, the Department of B.Com A&F performed the pooja, gracefully led by the Head of the Department. Symbolically, the department placed their books before the Golu, seeking blessings of knowledge and wisdom, resonating with the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) philosophy of “Vidya Dhanam Sarva Dhanam Pradhanam” (Knowledge is the supreme wealth). Two students chanted a series of mantras, creating a divine and peaceful ambiance, while a staff member rendered a soulful devotional song, elevating the spiritual aura of the day.
In the afternoon, the Departments of English and Tamil conducted their pooja, guided by their respective HODs. English department student added uniqueness by singing a devotional hymn in English, beautifully blending tradition with modern expression. The Tamil department emphasized the richness of native culture, linking IKS with language preservation. The celebration also aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), highlighting the value of cultural heritage, learning, and harmony within the academic community.

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), the SACAS Fin.Tech Club, and the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals were proud to host INNOBIZ 2025 -AI in Finance Hackathon with a theme of Innovate, Compete, Conquer.
It was conducted on a Friday, 30 th August 2025, between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM in SACAS Campus, Poonamallee - Avadi Main Road, Thiruverkadu, chennai - 600077.
Objective of the Event
The hackathon was to bring about innovativeness, critical thinking and entrepreneurial nature among young minds by exposing them to the future of finance that is integrated with Artificial Intelligence (AI). It was strictly aimed at the students of Classes 9 to 12 and offered them an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities and creative ideas.

- Reverse Pitching Challenge - This was a one-of-a-kind event and the judges asked problems and students provided solutions.
- Prompt Challenge - A time-based competition that depends on an AI-based challenge to test skill and creativity.
