SACAS Hosts Activity-Based Education Role Play for Accounting & Finance Students Chennai, November 15, 2024

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS’ians Fin-tech Club, organized an innovative activity-based education session through a role play at the SACAS Auditorium. Held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, the event was also live-streamed on YouTube.

This role-play session allowed students to engage in simulated scenarios, fostering critical thinking, communication skills, and a deeper understanding of concepts in a practical context. By assuming various roles, students interacted in ways that enhanced collaboration and empathy, bridging the gap between theory and real-world application. The initiative effectively promoted knowledge retention and equipped students with skills to face real-life challenges in a dynamic and engaging manner.

On November 11, 2024, for the fourth consecutive year, the Department of Accounting and Finance, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals and the SACAS’ians Fin. Tech Club, organized an outreach programme at the Institute of Child Health, Egmore. A faculty member and 20 students participated in the visit, where the department made a donation of a steel rack with 18 compartments to the hospital, designed to help organize and store essential items. In addition to this contribution, the students spent time comforting the children, offering emotional support, and reassuring them that they would fulfill one of their wishes when the opportunity arose again. This initiative highlighted the department’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility, providing both practical assistance and emotional encouragement to children facing challenging times.


S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS) hosted the grand intercollegiate event "Quantum Quasar 2.0" on 27.09.2024

S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS) hosted the grand intercollegiate event "Quantum Quasar 2.0" on September 27, 2024, attracting around 1600 students from 70 colleges. It was organized by the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals, SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club, Consumer Confederation of India, and FEDCOT India, the event featured 18 thrilling competitions, including Quizzes, Rangoli, Essays, Mime, Group Dance, Corporate Walk etc., Participants competed in well-organized spaces, trophies and certificates were issued for the winners, runners and participants. Ramakrishna Mission Vivekananda College, Chennai ultimately claimed the overall championship trophy. Under the guidance of Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, and Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Quantum Quasar 2.0 sets again a benchmark for intercollegiate events, fostering teamwork, innovation, and healthy competition among students, solidifying SACAS's commitment to holistic development and excellence.


SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACAS'ians Fin-tech Club organizing awareness session on "The Ill Effects of Substance Abuse among Adolescents and Youth on 26.09.2024

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) at SACAS, in conjunction with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACAS'ians Fin-tech Club, partnered with Madras School of Social Work to host an awareness session on "The Ill Effects of Substance Abuse among Adolescents and Youth." Held at the SACAS Auditorium, the event featured guest speaker Mr. Vikal Shukla, Junior Intelligence Officer of the Narcotic Control Bureau, Chennai, who highlighted the various forms of drugs and alarming statistics of affected individuals. The session aimed to educate students on the risks and harmful effects of drug abuse, empowering them to make informed choices, and was attended by students from SACAS and Madras School of Social Work. Through this initiative, SACAS and Madras School of Social Work reaffirmed their commitment to fostering a healthy and aware student community, inspiring positive change and collective responsibility in addressing substance abuse.


Department of Accounting & Finance, the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals students organised on 16.08.2024

A state-level intercollegiate competition was held on August 16, 2024, in honour of Anti-Ragging Week, by the Department of Accounting & Finance, the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals, and the SACAS'ians Fin.Tech Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science. 

The department's students organised this event and used the topic of "ANTI RAGGING" to host a variety of on-stage and off-stage competitions, providing a venue for other college students to showcase their abilities. This demonstrates the students' dedication to raising awareness of the significance of this event among the youngsters who will be tomorrow's leaders. The anti-ragging banner was signed by participants, as required by the organising committee. Participants in the competition included students from a variety of colleges in and around Chennai. In just a minute, they provided an opportunity to showcase their other talents as well. The winners received trophies, while Guru Nanak College of Chennai wins the overall trophy. There was a formal vote of thanks to close the occasion.

The Department of Accounting & Finance celebrated Freshers Day on 30.07.2024

Every student eagerly awaits right from their time of admission for the most remarkable event of the department “FRESHER’S PARTY”. The Department of Accounting & Finance celebrated Freshers Day on 30th of July 2024 it was a memorable day for freshers of the academic year 2024-2025 batch at S. A. College of Arts & Science. The day was filled with excitement, joy, music, enthusiasm, laughter, and happiness. It is the day when seniors and juniors finally bond and unite to celebrate being part of the Department. Students were welcomed with so much enthusiasm which was organized by the Seniors. Refreshments were provided as a part of the event. The faculties of A&F inspired the students with their short speeches. The joyfulness of the day ended with an amazing DJ party. Fresher’s party is all about creating everlasting relationships with each other. The event is an indication of union among the students.

The excitement augmented to a joyful high as performances graced the stage. The dance floor was left open for some unbridled energy. Joy and happiness could be seen among students.

On 30th July 2024, the Department of Accounting & Finance, SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals along with the SACAS’ians Fin.Tech Club commemorated Taxation Day by hosting a Guest Lecture on “Taxation – At a Glance” in SACAS Auditorium from 10:00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. The guest speaker for the event was Mr. SAIKRISHNAN. R, CMA, Senior Faculty for CA & CMA coaching classes in Srinivasa Academy Tambaram. The guest of honor was facilitated with the shield. The speaker enlightened the session with various taxation and inputs on IT-return filing.             He elaborated on the steps in filing returns and various inputs about taxation. Also extended his speech by enlightening the students about the time frame for filing the returns and the various taxation that individuals, HUF, Bussiness, etc. can avail of. He further continued his speech by mentioning the ITR forms and its seven types namely sahaj, sugam, and other ITR forms. He also interacted with the students by clarifying their doubts and queries. The session ended with a talk of gratitude by HoD.

Tech Club, joined hands with the Motivational Club to joyously observed "Global Hug Your Kids Day" on July 15, 2024, at Sudharsanam Vidyaashram School at 8 a.m. The event underscored the profound impact of hugs in fostering affection, trust, and security within families. Initiated by dedicated students, this outreach aimed to encourage parents to embrace their children with love and warmth, creating cherished memories that strengthen familial bonds. The organizing team expressed heartfelt appreciation to parents for their enthusiastic participation in making the day truly memorable.

Empowering Youth through Skills: World Youth Skill Day at S.A. College of Arts & Science On July 15, 2024, the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals, and SACAS'ians Fin. Tech Club, in collaboration with the Motivational Club, organized an Inter-Department Competition titled "Youth Skills For Peace and Development" to commemorate World Youth Skill Day. Held on the SACAS campus from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., the event featured speech, poster, and essay writing competitions involving twenty students from various departments. Participants expressed enthusiasm, noting the event as a transformative experience that boosted their confidence and encouraged future participation. The competition provided a valuable platform for showcasing and nurturing student talents.
