Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACASA'IANS FIN TECH CLUB have extended their collaboration with Heartfulness Educational Trust by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 11.07.2025

The Department of Accounting & Finance in association with SACASA of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACASA'IANS FIN TECH CLUB have extended their collaboration with Heartfulness Educational Trust by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday, 11 July 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Principal's Office.

The MoU is a revision of the MoU dated 11 November 2022 (Ref: MOU_BE 451205) and all aspects of the previous MoU will be the same terms and conditions.

It should be noted that today was merely a signing of a MoU, the formal collaborative program pertinent to this association will be organized at a later date and communicated accordingly.

This agreement builds upon a commitment to the spatial mindfulness and notions of wellness and holistic based educational practices among students through the initiatives provided by the Heartfulness Educational Trust.


Department of  Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science hosted Freshers Day 2025 on 04.07.2025

SACAS Welcomes Commerce A&F Freshers with a Grand Celebration Chennai, July 4, 2025 — The Department of  Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science hosted Freshers Day 2025 on Friday, 4th July, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the college auditorium.

Jointly organized with the Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACASIAN FIN TECH CLUB, the event warmly welcomed second-year commerce students into their academic journey with enthusiasm and a sense of community.

The Head of the Department opened the event with a motivating speech, highlighting the department’s vision. Professionals and club members addressed the students, sharing valuable insights on career opportunities and the importance of active engagement.

The cultural segment featured vibrant music, dance, and performances by senior students, followed by fun ice-breaker games.

Various student-led clubs were introduced to encourage participation in co-curricular activities.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and refreshments, setting a positive, energetic tone for the new academic year.


S.A. College of Arts & Science organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign on 26.06.2025

S.A. College of Arts & Science organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign for all of its students. The purpose of the campaign was to create awareness about drug abuse, promote a healthy lifestyle among students, and encourage students to take a stand against drug abuse. 

Key Highlights:

  • Pledge Ceremony:

Each student participated in the Anti-Drug Pledge pledge as an active participant, pledging to stay away from drugs and assure others in the communities they belong to of the consequences of drug abuse. 

  • Form Submission:

A total of 1285 students completed and submitted the official anti-drug awareness forms, signifying their participation in the awareness campaign. 

  • E-Certificate Submission:

Students took pledge through Tamil Nadu Government Portal and  then downloaded and submitted a soft copy version of their certificates to show they participated in the awareness campaign and completed the pledge. 

  • Awareness Sessions:

Students were given brief awareness messages that outlined drug abuse, peer pressure, and ways to reach out for help for themselves or others who may have issues with drug abuse.

Outcome:

Students developed a sense of responsibility and reaffirmed their commitment to be drug free in society and within their communities. The campaign also disseminated the message of having a healthier aware population of students thus having a positive contribution towards achieving the national mission of a Drug-Free India.


Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), in collaboration with the Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals organized a two-day Industrial Visit

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), in collaboration with the Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS), organized a two-day Industrial Visit to Hatsun Agro Product Ltd., Redhills on 23rd and 24th June 2025. The visit was scheduled from 09.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. on both days.

This visit was aimed at bringing an end to the theoretical knowledge and imparting practical exposure to the students through giving them an actual understanding of the working and financial domain of a top dairy firm.

The Department visited it on 23rD June 2025 and 37 girls students attended the visit, on 24th January 2025 35 boy students were involved in the visit. Three faculty members accompanied the students throughout the program and made sure that they were guided, safe and coordinated.

The students were also shown different areas of the plant namely procurement, processing, packaging, and distribution plants. They also had the interactive session with the company personnel who discussed about the company supply chain management, quality control practices, financial activities and technological intervention in dairy product. The experience gave the students a good exposure to real-life learning which supplemented their learning in accounting and finance.

The feedback session at the end of the visit demonstrated gratitude on behalf of the students, who described their impressions and gained insights accompanied by the visit. The Department will continue to train more such industrial visits that will allow experiential learning to the students and develop career readiness.


S.A. College of Arts & Science Hosts Fire & Safety Wellness Training Camp for National Fire Service Week 2025 on 15.04.2025

S.A. College of Arts & Science, conducted an impactful awareness program on Fire & Safety as part of National Fire Service Week 2025. The initiative, organized by the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), aimed to promote fire safety awareness and wellness among students and staff.

The program commenced at 12:00 pm on the 15th of April, 2025, at the SACAS campus. Officers from the Chennai Suburban District Fire Department served as trainers, providing hands-on demonstrations and expert insights into fire safety protocols, emergency response techniques, and preventive measures to handle fire-related hazards.

Students actively participated in the training sessions, which covered a wide range of essential topics including the use of fire extinguishers, evacuation drills, and first-aid practices during fire emergencies. The event also emphasized the importance of mental preparedness and staying calm under pressure, aligning with the wellness aspect of the training.

The initiative was a resounding success, reflecting SACAS’s commitment to holistic education that goes beyond academics. The college management appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers and Accounting & Finance department for organizing such a vital program that not only enhances safety awareness but also prepares students to act responsibly in times of crisis.

This event was a heartfelt tribute to our outgoing students, recognizing their hard work, achievements, and unforgettable journey at SACAS. Over the years, they grew, learned, and contributed to the vibrant spirit of our institution, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and camaraderie. A special appreciation to the 2022-25 batch for their generous initiative in sponsoring a sanitary pad vending machine, a thoughtful contribution that would benefit future students. As they embarked on new paths, we came together to bid them a warm farewell, cherishing the memories shared and wishing them success in all their future endeavors. The Training and Placement Cell of SACAS organized an industrial visit for 25 students from B.Com (Accounting & Finance) to Brakes India on 15/03/2025. The visit aimed to provide students with practical insights into cost control, and accounting practices within a manufacturing environment. Students were given a guided tour of the facility, where they observed the production process, inventory management. Experts from the company explained how they engage in production with safety measures followed by HR policies and cost analysis which plays a crucial role in the industry. The visit bridged the gap between academic concepts and real-world applications, enhancing students' understanding of corporate manufacturing process.

College of Arts & Science (SACAS), in association with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACAS’ians Fin.Tech Club, organized an engaging guest lecture on "Seamless Logistics – Endless Possibilities" at the SACAS Preview Theatre. The event featured Mr. Venkataramanan, Senior Officer at Delphi TVS Technologies, as the keynote speaker.

The lecture aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the logistics sector, highlighting its crucial role in modern commerce and finance. Mr. Venkataramanan delved into key topics, including supply chain optimization, digital transformation in logistics, and the increasing demand for efficient transportation and warehousing solutions. He emphasized how technology-driven logistics solutions, such as AI, automation, and blockchain, are revolutionizing the industry, enabling businesses to operate more smoothly and cost-effectively. He also shed light on the career prospects within the logistics and supply chain domain, encouraging students to explore opportunities in this rapidly evolving field.

S.A. College of Arts & Science Hosts Inspiring Guest Lecture on "Flora & Fauna" March 11, 2025: The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACAS’ians Fin.Tech Club, successfully hosted a guest lecture on "Flora & Fauna" at the SACAS Auditorium. The event, organized in partnership with SANS Animal Welfare Trust & Awareness India Movement, witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty.

Eminent speakers Mrs. Sudha Chandrasekhar, Chairperson of SANS Animal Welfare Trust, and Mr. Vetrivel Kumaravel, Founder of Awareness India Movement, emphasized biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices. Their insights aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) – Climate Action, Life Below Water, and Life on Land.

The interactive session inspired students to engage in environmental initiatives, reinforcing SACAS’ commitment to academic excellence and social responsibility. The institution looks forward to more such impactful events in the future.


SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club, organized inter-collegiate anti-drug awareness campaign Detox on 19.02.2025

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) at SACAS, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club, organized a remarkable inter-collegiate anti-drug awareness campaign, Detox, on February 19, 2025, at the SACAS campus. A total of nine colleges participated in the event, which aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. The campaign highlighted the detrimental impact of substance abuse on both mental and physical health while promoting healthier, drug-free lifestyles among students.

The campaign featured several thought-provoking segments, including expert guest speakers who shared invaluable insights on overcoming addiction. Notable speakers included Dr. A. Venkadesh Babu, IRS Deputy Commissioner; Ms. Preethi Indrani Kitchappan, Actress, Model, and Lawyer; and Mr. Asif Iraiyanban, Chief Minister Social Forum Board Member. These experts, along with specialists in addiction recovery and mental health, offered powerful messages on the importance of mental well-being and the dangers associated with substance abuse.

A variety of engaging events were conducted during Detox to encourage student participation. The street play performance was particularly impactful, as it vividly portrayed the consequences of drug abuse and the importance of prevention. Students also showcased their creativity through poster-making, expressing their thoughts and ideas on how to prevent drug misuse in society.

The Detox event not only successfully raised awareness but also provided valuable resources for combating addiction. It created a supportive environment that encouraged students to stay drug-free, fostering a culture of well-being and positivity on campus. The enthusiasm and energy exhibited throughout the event were a testament to the collective commitment of all those involved.

In an exciting conclusion to the event, the overall trophy was lifted by Apollo College of Arts & Science, securing the highest number of winnings across the different competitions held during Detox. Their outstanding participation and contributions were recognized and celebrated by all attendees.

The Detox event at SACAS was a resounding success, making a significant impact on the fight against drug abuse while promoting a healthy and vibrant campus culture.
