The Department of Mathematics, S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS), in association with the Career Development Cell (CDC) and IQAC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM), Singapore, on 2 July 2026 at the college campus. The initiative was taken under the guidance and support of Thiru P. Venkatesh Raja, Correspondent, reflecting the institution's commitment to strengthening global academic partnerships. Dr. S. Anbalagan, Principal, introduced the chief guests, while Dr. K. S. Prabakar, Director – CDC & Admin, delivered the special address. The MoU aims to promote academic and research collaboration through faculty and student exchange, learning opportunities, and the sharing of academic resources. Mr. Raymond Khoo, Vice President, Student Recruitment, Admission and Student Services, and Ms. Tanny Htet Htet, Deputy Director, Student Recruitment and Admission, NIM, conducted an awareness session on higher education opportunities in Singapore. Dr. S. Ganapathy, IQAC Coordinator and Head, Department of Corporate Secretaryship, proposed the vote of thanks.

The Department of Mathematics of S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the Mathelets Club, celebrated National Statistics Day on 29 June 2026. The programme commenced with a welcome address and an introduction of the chief guest by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of the Department of Mathematics. The resource person, Prof. Sukumar Kumar, Founder of Kumar Mangalam Solutions, educator, and motivational speaker, delivered an inspiring session on the significance of Mathematics in competitive examinations such as IIT-JAM, CSIR, IISER, TIFR, IISC, and NISER. He encouraged students to prepare for national-level competitive examinations after graduation and inspired them to pursue careers in scientific research and contribute to nation-building. The session provided valuable insights, effective preparation strategies, and motivation to excel in higher studies and research. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. S. Radha. The event received the wholehearted support of the Correspondent, Director, Principal, and Director–Admin & CDC, reaffirming the institution's commitment to promoting academic excellence.

The Department of Mathematics, S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the Mathelets Club, organized an intra-department quiz competition on 25th June 2026 to commemorate National Statistics Day. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and served as an excellent platform to enhance their analytical and problem-solving abilities.
The quiz was designed to evaluate students’ knowledge, aptitude, and potential to perform effectively in various academic and practical tasks. It also aimed to highlight the importance of statistics in everyday life, decision-making, and career development. Through active participation, students gained valuable insights that contribute to personal growth and professional excellence.
The programme encouraged healthy competition, teamwork, and critical thinking among participants. Students actively engaged in the event, making it both informative and enjoyable.

Pi Day Celebrated by Department of Mathematics at SACAS
The Department of Mathematics, S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the Mathelets Club, organised a Pi Day celebration on 12 March 2026 on the college campus. The programme began with a warm welcome address and the presentation of the Mathelets Club Annual Report by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of the Department of Mathematics.
The highlight of the event was the special address delivered by the guest speaker, Mr. Naveen Kumar, Research Assistant at VIT, Vellore. He spoke on the topic “Importance of Mathematics in Real Life” and explained how mathematical concepts play a vital role in everyday decision-making, scientific development, and technological progress.
During the programme, the guest speaker facilitated the newly elected office bearers of the Mathelets Club with badges and distributed mementos to the existing members in recognition of their contributions.
The event received strong support from the Correspondent, Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, and Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar.

MATH MASTERMIND–2026 Sparks Young Minds at S.A. College of Arts & Science
The Department of Mathematics, in association with the Mathelets Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science, successfully organized an Inter-School Event titled “MATH MASTERMIND–2026” on 07th January 2026, marking a special academic celebration. The programme began with a warm welcome address by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of the Department of Mathematics, followed by the honouring of the Chief Guest.
The esteemed speaker of the day, Mrs. T. V. Manamalli, Principal of Jaya Jaya Sankara International CBSE School, Chennai, addressed the students and highlighted how mathematics develops cognitive skills, creativity, analytical ability, and logical thinking, supporting both academic excellence and effective decision-making.
A total of 323 students from 15 schools participated enthusiastically. Four events—Math Quiz, Math Connection, Math Models, and Math Fun Games—were conducted. Winners and runners were awarded cash prizes. The event was held successfully with the strong support of the Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, and Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to promoting the importance of Mathematics.

The Department of Mathematics, in association with the Mathelets Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a Mathematics Awareness Rally and a Guest Lecture to mark National Mathematics Day on 22nd December 2025. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of the Department of Mathematics. The Chief Guest, Mr. Kashif Ahmed, Regional Manager – Campus Relations, SHL India Pvt. Ltd., was formally honoured on the occasion.
Mr. Kashif Ahmed, in his inspiring lecture, emphasized the vital role of Mathematics in enhancing logical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and aptitude skills essential for academic and professional success. He encouraged students to explore creativity through mathematical concepts. The Mathematics Awareness Rally further highlighted the importance of Mathematics in daily life.
The event was supported by the Correspondent, Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, and Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to celebrating and promoting National Mathematics Day.




Sacas Golu Celebration on 26.09.2025
DAY - 5
The fifth day of the Golu Celebration was successfully organized by the Department of Commerce General, the Department of Mathematics, and the Placement Cell, integrating the theme with the Indian Knowledge System. The event highlighted the ‘Evolution of Banking’ through an innovative display that traced the journey of financial practices from traditional barter systems to the digital banking era, showcasing how India’s ancient wisdom continues to influence modern economic frameworks. A special attraction was the miniature representation of a Balance Sheet, creatively designed by students to illustrate the fundamentals of accounting in a simple yet effective manner. This exhibit emphasized the importance of financial literacy in today’s world and its direct link to sustainable economic growth. The celebration not only blended tradition with modern knowledge but also encouraged students to connect academic learning with cultural values, aligning with the holistic vision of the Indian Knowledge System and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Ambika, Head of Mathematics, and a special recognition of the Chief Guest, Mr.BalaChandar Sundarmoorthy Financial SAP Assistant TCS Chennai, Tamil Nadu, followed by the Special lecture along with 4 events conducted by our SACAS alumni Mathelets club members as an event Judge.Total no.of participants 183. Overall Trophy won by Loyola college and Cash prizes given to the winners and runners .

The Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Mathelets Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized Pi Approximation Day on July 18, 2025, at the college premises.
The event commenced with a warm welcome and the introduction of the Chief Guest by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of the Department of Mathematics. The highlight of the day was an engaging and informative session by Dr. Dhanalakshmi K., Assistant Professor at SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Kattankulathur. She delivered a thought-provoking talk on the historical and practical use of fractions in Pi approximation, emphasizing the significance of Pi as a fundamental constant in mathematics.
The session enhanced students' understanding of Pi and its real-world applications. A poster presentation competition was also conducted, encouraging student participation and creativity. The event was both educational and inspiring for all attendees.

The Department of Mathematics, S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the Mathelets Club, organized National Statistics Day on 30th June 2025 at the college premises. The event began with a warm welcome address and the introduction of the Chief Guest by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of the Department of Mathematics.
The highlight of the event was a thought-provoking session by Dr. A. Indumathi, Assistant Professor at DRBCCC Hindu College, who delivered an insightful talk on the Foundations of Business Statistics Tools for Data-Driven Decisions. Her session helped students understand the practical importance of statistics in business and analytics.
Certificates were distributed to winners of the Dumb Charades competition by the chief guest.
