The Department of Visual Communication, S.A. College of Arts and Science, successfully organized a One Day Workshop on “Preparation of Research Manuscript for Scopus Publication” on 21st July 2025 at SACAS Theatre. The workshop was a grand success, with more than 100 participants including faculty members and research scholars. Spot registrations saw an overwhelming response, and all registrations were efficiently coordinated by the Department of Visual Communication.

The session was graced by Dr. M. Yuvaraj, Assistant Professor at SRM (Kattankulathur), who served as the Chief Guest and Resource Person. He shared his vital insights and extensive knowledge on publishing research papers in Scopus-indexed journals. His engaging presentation covered all essential aspects of manuscript preparation, journal selection, reviewer communication, graphical abstract, and the submission process.

The event began with a warm welcome address by Mr. Ganapathi, IQAC Convener. Dr. Srinivasan, Head of the Department of Visual Communication, felicitated the Chief Guest with great respect and appreciation. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Thanga Selvan, Head of the Department of English.

All the participants actively engaged in the session and showed great interest by asking several insightful questions related to research publication. It was truly a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.

This remarkable workshop was made possible by the support and encouragement of our Correspondent, under the guidance of our Principal and Director Madam. Their continuous motivation played a pivotal role in the success of the event.

The Department of Home Science – Nutrition, Food Service Management & Dietetics, and F3 Nutrition Club in association with the Nutrition Society of India (NSI), organized an enriching Guest Lecture on *“Professional Body Awareness”* on *21st July 2025 at 2:00 PM*. The session was graced by *Dr. Gowri Ramesh*, Associate Professor, Department of Home Science, Women’s Christian College, and Convenor – NSI Chennai Chapter.

Dr. Gowri Ramesh shared her valuable insights on the importance of being associated with professional bodies like the Nutrition Society of India. She highlighted how such affiliations offer students and professionals a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, career development, and research collaborations. Her address emphasized the significance of continuous learning and active participation in professional forums to stay updated with the latest developments in the field of nutrition and dietetics.

The session enlightened the students about the structure, functions, and objectives of NSI, as well as the various academic and professional opportunities it provides. She also encouraged students to engage with professional societies to contribute meaningfully to the public health nutrition landscape of India.

The lecture was highly interactive, with students engaging in a dynamic Q\&A session, where they clarified their doubts regarding membership, internships, and career paths within the field.

Department of Accounting and Finance has conducted a First Aid Training Program held on 18.07.2025

In collaboration with National service scheme (NSS) and Red Ribbon Club (RRC), the Department of Accounting and Finance has conducted a First Aid Training Program held on Friday 18 th July 2025 at SACAS auditorium.

Ms. S. Varshini, Project Officer & Trainer of an established organization, ALERT that has professional know-how on emergency response and first aid education, conducted this session. It was conducted between 9.30 a.m and 11.30 a.m. This training was attended by many aspiring students.

The aim of the program was to establish awareness of simple first aid procedures so that the students acquire skills that would enable them to act confidently when medical situations need their attention. Ms. Varshini addressed the most critical issues about CPR, dealing with cuts and burns, how to react to unconsciousness, choking, and bleed management, conducted an interactive presentation, live demonstrations, and real-life scenarios.

The session stressed on the necessity of being a good citizen and responsive citizen and that immediate and right action may sometimes save lives. The students actively attended the demonstration part and eliminated their confusion on emergency procedure.

Outcome:

The students became more confident dealing with real medical conditions that may arise in life like faints, bleeding, fractures, burn and heart attacks.

SACAS Celebrates Pi Approximation Day with Insightful Session and Student Activities

The Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Mathelets Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized Pi Approximation Day on July 18, 2025, at the college premises.

The event commenced with a warm welcome and the introduction of the Chief Guest by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of the Department of Mathematics. The highlight of the day was an engaging and informative session by Dr. Dhanalakshmi K., Assistant Professor at SRM Institute of Science & Technology, Kattankulathur. She delivered a thought-provoking talk on the historical and practical use of fractions in Pi approximation, emphasizing the significance of Pi as a fundamental constant in mathematics.

The session enhanced students' understanding of Pi and its real-world applications. A poster presentation competition was also conducted, encouraging student participation and creativity. The event was both educational and inspiring for all attendees.


Department of Home Science – NFSMD Guest Lecture on 18.07.2025

The Department of Home Science – Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics (NFSMD), in collaboration with the F3 Nutrition Club, successfully organized a guest lecture titled “From Symptoms to Symbols: The Art of Medical Coding” on *18th July 2025 at 1:00 PM*. The session aimed to introduce students to the dynamic field of *Medical Coding* and create awareness about its growing *career opportunities* in healthcare industries.

Our guest speaker, Mr. Blessing S, Co Founder & MD, Focus Health Care, with his 13 years of experience in this field elaborated on the essentials of *medical coding systems*, such as *ICD codes*, *CPT*, and *HCPCS*, and their vital role in clinical documentation and healthcare revenue management . Real-time examples and industry expectations were shared to help students understand how symptoms are translated into standard codes, forming the backbone of insurance and hospital records.

Students gained a broader perspective on placement avenues,required skills, and certification programs related to medical coding. The interactive session concluded with a lively Q\&A, reflecting the enthusiastic participation of the students.

The event provided a valuable platform for bridging academic knowledge with professional insights and was highly appreciated by both faculty and students.


Department of Psychology organised a guest lecture on 18.07.2025

The Department of Psychology, SACAS, organised a guest lecture on the topic “Self-Care is Not Selfish” on [date, if confirmed]. The resource person for the session was Dr. Veenavani, Consultant Homeopath and Psychologist.

The session highlighted the importance of understanding self-care as a crucial aspect of mental health and overall wellbeing. Dr. Veenavani shared insights on practical ways to incorporate self-care into daily life without guilt, and emphasised how nurturing oneself enhances personal growth and interpersonal relationships.

The programme was well-received by students and faculty members. The Department of Psychology continues to organise such lectures to promote holistic psychological wellbeing among learners and staff.


Department of Visual Communication Organized Industrial Visit @ Lalit Kala Academy Art Exhibition- Live Painting Demo on 18.07.2025

The purpose of the industrial visit was to expose students to diverse art forms, creative practices, and the cultural heritage showcased in the art exhibition “Retrospective” at Lalith Kala Academy. The visit aimed to provide experiential learning, encourage aesthetic appreciation, and enhance the visual literacy of budding visual communicators.

Highlights of the Exhibition
Display of paintings, sculptures, and mixed media art by renowned and emerging artists. Sections dedicated to traditional and contemporary art styles. Interaction opportunities with artists and curators to understand concepts, techniques, and inspirations behind their works.

Key Observations
Students explored the nuances of composition, color psychology, perspective, and symbolism in visual art.
Learned how heritage and modernity coexist in artistic expression. Gained practical insights into art curation, lighting, and exhibition design.

Outcome:

The Multifaceted Talent Show The visit inspired students to conceptualize and plan an in-house talent show reflecting creativity across multiple domains such as painting, photography, digital art, and installation work. This activity will help channel their observations into practical applications, fostering innovation and collaborative learning.

The industrial visit was a valuable educational experience, broadening the students’ understanding of visual aesthetics and professional art practices. It encouraged critical thinking, creativity, and a holistic

Corporate Governance Association Inaugurated at SACAS for 2025–2026

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship at S.A. College of Arts & Science, Thiruverkadu, Chennai, inaugurated the Corporate Governance Professionals’ Association for the academic year 2025–2026 on July 17, 2025, at the SACAS Auditorium. The event began at 11:00 a.m. with “Tamizhthai Vaazthu” and the lighting of the “Kuthu Vilakku.”

Chief Guests Mr. K. Durairaj, Technical Manager – Mechanical Engineering, with 33 years of experience in team leadership, planning, and customer-oriented management, and Mr. S. Sivasankaran, Junior Works Manager – Mechanical Engineering, H.V.F (Ministry of Defence, Avadi), with 27 years of expertise in manufacturing transmission gearboxes for battle tanks, CNC-based machining, and productivity optimization, they were honoured by Dr. S. Ganapathy, Head of the Department.

Faculty members and alumni also shared insights and motivational experiences. The event concluded with the distribution of badges and appointment letters to the newly appointed student leaders, encouraging them to embrace leadership roles.

The Department of English at S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully conducted the sixth meeting of its Readers’ Club, The Bookmark, on July 17, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Digital Library. The session aimed to nurture reading habits, literary appreciation, and critical thinking among students.

Ms. R. Divya, the club coordinator, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of reading in shaping young minds. Mr. Thanga Kumaran, Head of the Department of English, also shared a thought-provoking story and highlighted the significance of listening as a key element of literary engagement and communication.

Faculty members shared personal reading experiences, setting an inspiring tone for the session. Each participant presented a summary of their favorite literary work, discussing key themes, characters, and the impact it had on them.
