Empowering Girls for the Future: SACAS Hosts Job Readiness Orientation

The Department of Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a free Orientation Program titled “Job Readiness Skills for Girls” on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. The event took place from 2 PM to 3 PM at the SACAS Auditorium and was exclusively conducted for all II and III year female students.

Mr. B. Shankar from Team Everest led the session, which aimed to equip young women with essential career skills. The orientation was part of a broader initiative addressing the low 22% female employment rate. The main program included a 75-day training with 13 sessions on resume building, “Learning with AI,” and more. Participants received a ₹1000 stipend and a certificate upon successful completion.

The event inspired students and boosted their confidence, reflecting SACAS’s commitment to empowering women and promoting inclusive employment opportunities through practical and impactful learning experiences.

Grand Celebration of 101st International Chess Day with Block Level Tournament at SACAS 

The Department of Physical Education at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Poonamallee, celebrated the 101st International Chess Day by organizing a grand Block Level Chess Competition for the academic year 2025–2026. The zonal-level tournament, covering both Poonamallee and Avadi regions, was inaugurated by Dr. S. Ganapathy,  Head of the Department of Corporate Secretaryship. 

A total of 60 schools participated, with 253 students from the Avadi zone and 183 from the Poonamallee zone. The competition featured four categories: U-11, U-14, U-17, and U-19, for both boys and girls.

The event was successfully coordinated by Mr. G. Sivamaran, Director of Physical Education, along with Assistant DPEs Mr. R. Haribabu, Mrs. J.H. Vasantha Lakshmi, and Ms. S. Sandhiya. The tournament promoted strategic thinking, sportsmanship, and a love for chess among school students.

Smart Minds, Smarter Futures: Psychology Seminar Explores Brain, Mind & Machine at SACAS

The Department of Psychology at S. A. College of Arts & Science organized a thought-provoking seminar on 14th July 2025, on the theme “Building a Smart Future – Brain, Mind, and Machine”,  focusing on the powerful connection between human cognition and technology. A total of 49 students actively participated in the session. 

Dr. N.S. Sugumar, Deputy Director, Department of Commerce and Economics, VISTAS, spoke about how machines, though products of the human brain, may reduce brain activity. He emphasised mindfulness, creativity, yoga, self-love, and living in the moment as key to balancing modern life.

Ms. Sayee Bhuvaneswari, Founder of Dheemer Consulting, delivered an engaging talk titled “Being Seen or Being Reel.” She discussed the digital paradox, social anxiety, and how to handle the effects of excessive social media use.

The seminar offered deep insights into blending psychology and technology to create a smarter, more mindful future, leaving students inspired and well-informed.

SACAS Hosts International Workshop on AI-Powered Healthcare Workstations

The Department of Computer Science with AI at S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully conducted a one-day International Workshop titled “AI PC Revolution: Building Next-Gen Healthcare Workstations” on 12th July 2025 at the College Auditorium and AI Lab.

The resource person for the event was Akshay Bhuvaneshwari Ramakrishnas, RA@LCICM Hopkins Medicine & Intel Innovator, who led the sessions with great expertise and insight.

The workshop featured in-depth discussions on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning, emphasizing their transformative role in the healthcare sector. Participants gained exposure to the AI data pipeline—data integration, cleaning, transformation, and normalization—particularly tailored for medical applications.

A major highlight was the introduction to Intel Tiber Cloud and its advantages over traditional platforms like Google Colab, illustrated through a comparative study on pneumonia detection. The hands-on sessions offered practical training in Kaggle, OpenAI tools, and GitHub for AI-driven medical imaging projects.

The workshop offered a rich blend of theoretical knowledge and real-world application, equipping attendees with valuable technical skills and insights. It marked a significant move toward integrating AI in future healthcare solutions.


Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACASA'IANS FIN TECH CLUB have extended their collaboration with Heartfulness Educational Trust by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 11.07.2025

The Department of Accounting & Finance in association with SACASA of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACASA'IANS FIN TECH CLUB have extended their collaboration with Heartfulness Educational Trust by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday, 11 July 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Principal's Office.

The MoU is a revision of the MoU dated 11 November 2022 (Ref: MOU_BE 451205) and all aspects of the previous MoU will be the same terms and conditions.

It should be noted that today was merely a signing of a MoU, the formal collaborative program pertinent to this association will be organized at a later date and communicated accordingly.

This agreement builds upon a commitment to the spatial mindfulness and notions of wellness and holistic based educational practices among students through the initiatives provided by the Heartfulness Educational Trust.

The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with The Nexus Technovate Club, hosted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with SADRE Solutions Pvt. Ltd. on 11th July 2025. The event was graced by Mr. Vincent Arokianathan, Chief Knowledge Officer of SADRE Solutions, and Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications.

The MoU marks the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing student career development, digital skilling, placements, and consulting support. A key highlight of the collaboration is the implementation of Projexus, an Experiential Project-Based Learning (EPBL) program developed with NASSCOM FutureSkills Prime. The initiative will offer students real-time industry exposure through innovation-led projects, mentorship, and industry-certified training.

Students will have the opportunity to undertake up to eight projects before graduation, with credit recognition under NCrF and certifications co-branded by NASSCOM, MeitY, and SADRE. The session concluded with an interactive discussion between SADRE representatives, faculty members, and students.

The School of Management,Department of Business Administration ,S.A. College of Arts & Science warmly welcomed its new batch of first-year students with a vibrant and memorable Freshers' Day Celebration held on 11th July 2025 in the college auditorium.

The event commenced at 2:00 PM .The event helped newly joined students overcome their initial hesitation and build a strong sense of bonding with their peers and seniors .

Games and fun interaction sessions between seniors and juniors built a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The winners were crowned amidst cheers and applause.

The celebration ended with refreshments and group photos capturing memories of a warm welcome into the School of Management family.

Department of Visual Communication Hosts Value-Added Course “Script to Screen” at SACAS

The Department of Visual Communication in association with the Placement Cell of S.A. College of Arts and Science successfully conducted a five-day Value-Added Course titled “Script to Screen” from 7th to 11th July 2025. The course was facilitated by renowned screenwriter and actor Sab John Edathattil, known for his acclaimed works in Malayalam and Tamil cinema.

The program aimed to enhance participants' understanding of cinematic storytelling, screenwriting techniques, and industry practices. With over 165 participants, including 135 internal students and 30 external delegates from institutions such as Vels University, EGS Pillai College, and Government Medical College Hospital, the course saw enthusiastic participation.

Each day was thematically structured—ranging from cinematic story worlds, character development, and conflict to screenplay structure and pitching. Students engaged in interactive lectures, practical assignments, film screenings including Chanakyan, King’s Speech, Guna, and Casablanca, and in-depth Q&A sessions. The sessions were efficiently coordinated by faculty members under the leadership of Dr. Srinivasan R. (HoD), Prof. R.D. Balaji (Course Director), and Dr. K.S. Prabakar (Placement Director).

The course culminated in a valedictory session where feedback was presented, certificates were distributed, and a detailed report was shared by Dr. Sheik Mohamed. Students expressed that the program enriched their creative and narrative skills while bridging the gap between theory and practice in screenwriting.

The department extended heartfelt gratitude to the management, including the Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar and Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, for their constant support in making the event a grand success.

Library Induction Programme Empowers First-Year Students at SACAS

The Central Library of S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with SALIS (Society for the Advancement of Library and Information Science), organized a User Induction cum Information Literacy Programme on 11th July 2025 at the SACAS Auditorium. 

The session was held from 9:30 AM to 11:45 AM, was conducted for first-year students to enhance their understanding of library resources, digital platforms, and research skills. The event began with a welcome address by Dr. G. Muruganandham, Librarian of SACAS. Dr. M. Mani, Librarian, D.G. Vaishnav College, served as the resource person and delivered an engaging talk on information literacy, ethical use of resources, and digital navigation.

A live demonstration on accessing e-resources and referencing tools was also conducted. The interactive session laid a strong foundation for students to become independent, responsible information users and lifelong learners.

 The Corporate Governance Professionals’ Association and the Department of Corporate Secretaryship organised the Mentorship Session on “Navigating Career Opportunities after Bachelor of Commerce”. The session was presented by Ms. S. Roopavathi, Director of Sri Lakshmi Saraswathi Management Service PVT. LTD. (SLSMS), A veteran professional with deep expertise in academic instruction and executive management in corporate governance, gave valuable insights on above topic. A total of 200 students attended the session. Nandhini, Governor, and Janani, Treasurer, compered the event.  Dhivya Darshini, President, delivered the welcome address for the event. Thennissai, General Secretary, delivered the chief guest introduction. Sri Aravind, Vice President, delivered the vote of thanks. 

 Ms S. Roopavathi, delivered an interactive, thoughtful and valuable presentation, which dealt with the advantages of taking up B.Com., namely B.Com. being a versatile educational foundation which enables B.Com. graduates to enter into various fields and positions. She discussed about the traditional career paths (such as Accountant, Auditor, Financial Analyst, Banker, etc), Professional career paths (such as Chartered Accountancy (CA), Company Secretary (CS), Cost and Management Accountant (CMA)), emerging career fields (such as Data Analyst, Digital Marketing Specialist and Business Consultant), engaging in entrepreneurship, government and public sector jobs (UPSC, State PSCs, PO, Railway, SSC and other Government exams). She also touched upon the key skills required and skills that employers look for such as analytical and problem-solving skills, communication skills, technical proficiency, teamwork and leadership, adaptability and continuous learning, etc. She talked about the importance of mastering AI while not relying on it too much, constructing a resume, be stable in a company and not switch between companies.
