Department of Accounting & Finance “WORLD MEDITATION DAY”On 20th December 2024, the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) with SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals along with SACAS’ians Fin-Tech club organized “World Meditation Day” program in association with "Indian Knowledge Systems" and “Heartfulness Education Trust” in the SACAS CG Lab at 9:00 am. The guests – Dr. R. Siva Kumar, Prof. A. Mallika, Dr. Balachander, 4 Faculty members, and 162 students- participated in the program. The programme commenced by explaining the origin of Yoga and it's importance in life and highlighting the practical sessions of the day – Basic Pranayam, Basic Yoga, followed by a Meditation session. The guests covered the outlines of the topics – Importance of skills, LPG, Leadership qualities (Troubleshooting & Decision making), Techniques to meditation along with setting an example of Abraham Lincoln, Heartfulness Meditation, Adaptation with setting examples of Mr. Rajaji & N.S. Krishnan, & Benefits of Heartfulness Meditation. The practical sessions such as the Yoga session by Dr. Balachander & Relaxation session by Dr. Mallika were conducted for 25 minutes. The program concluded with the guests sharing a video presentation on their Heartfulness Education Trust headquarters “Kanha Shanti Vanam” located at Hyderabad. Additionally, the students shared their experiences along with Essential skills needed today. The students claimed that the session was comfortable, relaxing & peace of mind. The staff also shared their feedback at the end of the program.

SACAS SHG MELA – Post Content Report
On December 20, 2024, S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the Institution Innovation Council, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, and the Department of Bank Management, hosted the much-anticipated ED MART at the SACAS campus. This vibrant event aimed to inspire budding entrepreneurs, with a special focus on women entrepreneurs from self-help groups (SHGs).
The event was a dynamic celebration of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, providing an empowering platform for entrepreneurs to connect, showcase their ventures, and learn from each other. It served not only as a marketplace but also as a testament to the college's commitment to fostering innovation and empowering aspiring entrepreneurs.
Highlights of the Event:
- The college received an overwhelming response, exceeding expectations in terms of participation and engagement.
- A total of 40 stalls were set up by participants, including both self-help groups and non-self-help groups.
- The enthusiastic participation of staff and students added to the event’s success. They actively visited the stalls and supported the entrepreneurs by purchasing products with great enthusiasm.
The success of the SACAS SHG MELA demonstrates the college's dedication to promoting entrepreneurship and supporting community-driven initiatives. This event not only provided a platform for entrepreneurial growth but also reinforced the significance of collaboration and community support in fostering innovation.

The Department of Mathematics in association with the Mathelets Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a State level Inter- Collegiate Event “MATH MASTERO-2024” and Math Talk “Role of Mathematics & Statistics in Artificial Intelligence” on National Mathematics Day, 20th December 2024. The Welcome Address was given by Dr. G.Ambika, HoD of Mathematics and Honouring the Chief Guest. The esteemed speaker of the day, Dr. R.Kavitha , Assistant Professor, Chevalier T.Thomas Elizabeth College For
Women, Chennai 11 provided a platform for students to creative skills in the field of Mathematics & Statistics and highlighted Recent Trends. Totally 217 students participated including 15 other institutions. The winners and runners were awarded with cash prizes and certificates. The event received unwavering support from the Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi and Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar reaffirming the institution's commitment to promoting National Mathematics Day 20th December 2024 celebration.

Mr. Lenin and industry Expert in Editing and Filmmaking started his fifth and last day with the introduction and Screening of Short Film
The 5th and final day of the VAC workshop commenced with Mr. Lenin screening a short film, setting the stage for an insightful session on film editing and production. The screening served as a practical example, allowing participants to understand the nuances of editing, shots, and cuts in filmmaking.
Mr. Lenin provided a detailed analysis of various types of shots and cuts used in short films. He explained how different shots—close-up, wide shot, medium shot, etc.—are used to convey emotions, create tension, or provide context. Furthermore, he demonstrated how cuts, transitions, and pacing are essential for enhancing storytelling and maintaining viewer engagement.

One of the highlights of the session was the live editing demonstration. Mr. Lenin showcased how a short film is edited in real-time, focusing on both audio and video aspects. The participants were able to observe the complexities involved in cutting, trimming, and arranging footage to form a coherent narrative. Mr. Lenin emphasized the importance of precise timing and rhythm when editing video and audio together.

In the second session he discussed Audio and Video Editing Techniques
The session delved deeply into the technical aspects of editing. Mr. Lenin introduced the participants to advanced techniques in both video and audio editing, particularly focusing on:
Video Editing: He demonstrated how to manipulate footage, apply effects, and make decisions about scene transitions, timing, and visual aesthetics.
Audio Editing: A significant portion of the session was dedicated to editing the audio track. Mr. Lenin explained how audio editing plays a pivotal role in setting the mood of a scene. He showed how to adjust sound levels, remove unwanted noise, and synchronize sound effects with the video.
He discussed about Background Music (BGM) and Song Editing
A key focus of the session was on Background Music (BGM) and its role in film editing. Mr. Lenin elaborated on the difference between BGM and songs, emphasizing the importance of choosing the right music to complement a film’s tone. He discussed how to differentiate between various types of BGM, such as instrumental tracks, ambient sounds, and songs, and explained how these elements influence the emotional response of the audience.
He also shared insights on editing BGM to fit the scenes, adjusting its tempo, and making sure it blends well with the overall narrative. Mr. Lenin pointed out that even if one doesn’t understand the language of the song, it’s possible to edit the music effectively by focusing on its rhythm, beat, and emotional context.
He discussed Da Vinci Resolve an Industry Standard Editing Software
Mr. Lenin demonstrated the use of Da Vinci Resolve, a leading industry-standard editing software. He explained how the software is used in professional film production for color grading, editing, and audio post-production. The participants were shown various features of Da Vinci Resolve, such as its powerful tools for visual effects, color correction, and seamless integration of audio and video editing.
Mr Lenin highlighted how Da Vinci Resolve is widely used in the industry for its user-friendly interface and advanced features that enable filmmakers to create polished and professional content.
He talk about Final Edit and Screenings
Mr. Lenin proceeded to show the final edit of the short film, showcasing how all the elements—shots, cuts, audio, BGM, and effects—come together to create the final product. The process of refining the film was explained, with a focus on ensuring the editing choices align with the story's emotional and narrative goals.
An interactive session followed, where Mr. Lenin engaged with the participants, answering questions and discussing the challenges and strategies involved in editing short films. This interaction allowed participants to gain deeper insights into the practical aspects of editing, as well as tips and tricks for improving their editing skills.
The final screening of the edited short films took place towards the end of the day. Participants showcased their edited versions of the short film, and Mr. Lenin provided feedback on their work, praising their efforts and highlighting areas for improvement.
The day concluded with the Valedictory Function, where certificates were distributed to the participants as recognition for their active participation and learning during the workshop. The function also included speeches by the organizers and participants, reflecting on the knowledge gained and the overall experience. Mr. Lenin was appreciated for his valuable contribution to the workshop, with a special mention of his expertise and engaging approach to teaching.
The session provided practical, hands-on experience with both video and audio editing.
Participants gained exposure to Da Vinci Resolve, learning about its professional applications. A comprehensive understanding of BGM and its integration into filmmaking was provided. The final screening of edited films allowed participants to apply their learning and receive feedback from an expert in the field.

A spirited group of 121 students from S.A. College of Arts & Science participated in the dynamic Inter College Fest 2024, organized by Minmini and Pothys on December 20, 2024, at A.M. Jain College, Meenambakkam. The event coincided with World Saree Day, blending cultural pride with youthful creativity.
Students showcased their skills in a range of competitions, including Walkathon, Debate, Dance, and a Hashtag Contest. The day was marked by an electric atmosphere as participants demonstrated exceptional talent and teamwork.
SACAS students shone brightly, clinching second place in the Dance Competition and third in the Hashtag Contest, earning recognition for their dedication and artistry.
The fest not only celebrated talent but also fostered cultural exchange and camaraderie, leaving participants with cherished memories and the drive to excel in future endeavors.

A Guest Lecture on "Generative AI" was organized by the Department of Computer Applications, S.A. College of Arts & Science to introduce the students about the rapidly evolving field of Artificial Intelligence. The lecture aimed to provide the students with a foundational understanding of Generative AI models, their applications, and their future potential in various industries.
The Resource person for the session was Mr.K.Gowtham, Project Engineer, Pantech Solutions (India) Pvt Ltd. Around 250 students of BCA and B.Sc. Computer Science students attended the programme and gained insights from it.

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of S. A. College of Arts & Science hosted a national-level seminar titled "Take the Right Path: My Health, My Right" on 19-12-2024 to raise awareness about health rights, HIV/AIDS prevention, and the importance of informed health choices. The event emphasized empowering youth with knowledge about maintaining a balanced lifestyle and understanding their health rights.
The session commenced with Tamilthai Vazhthu, followed by a welcome address by Subash Sai Sudhan (I B.Com General). Chief Guest Mr. Arputhaneasan S, a renowned health activist, inaugurated the seminar, shedding light on health rights and their role in informed decision-making. Interactive discussions and games engaged the 65 participants from various departments, addressing issues like mental health, substance abuse, and sexual health.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Iren (I Psychology). Organizers urged participants to disseminate the insights gained, fostering a culture of health advocacy and empowerment.
