The PG Department of Commerce (General) at S.A. College of Arts and Science held the Feel Free “ FROM FAIL TO SAIL” - Session-VIII” " for Commerce students on October 04, 2024.
The eighth session of the Feel Free aimed to inspire viewers by showcasing 12th fail movie that explore the theme of overcoming failure. The session was designed to highlight how setbacks can lead to personal growth, resilience, and eventual success.
This film portrays characters who face significant challenges, setbacks, or failures, ultimately leading to growth, resilience, and achievement.
In this session totally 18 students participated and with Staff members in SF 03.





Department of BCom CA Organizing two-day Workshop on Tools for Analysis & Business Interpretation on 03.10.2024 and 04.10.2024
A two-day workshop called "Tools for Analysis & Business Interpretation" was led by Dr. S. Xavier, who is an Assistant Professor and the Head of the Statistics Department at Loyola College in Chennai. This happened on October 3rd and 4th, 2024.
Purpose of the Workshop
The main goal of the workshop was to give students the important tools they need to do statistical analysis and understand business data. The workshop focused on building a strong base in descriptive and inferential statistics and also gave students practical experience using SPSS software, which is commonly used for data analysis.
Highlights of workshop
During the workshop, Dr. Xavier taught the students basic statistical ideas and how they can be used in real business situations. The main topics covered were:
Descriptive Statistics: Simple measures like mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation, focusing on how to understand these in business data.
Inferential Statistics: Covered ideas like hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, and regression analysis, giving students the skills to predict and draw conclusions from data.
SPSS Software: A big part of the workshop was about using SPSS for practical tasks. Students learned to enter data, run statistical tests, and understand the results.
Dr. Xavier included practical exercises throughout the workshop, allowing students to use SPSS with their theoretical knowledge. These exercises helped students better understand and feel confident using the software for statistical analysis.
The attendees really enjoyed the workshop and thought it was very useful and interesting. Many said that learning how to use SPSS in a hands-on way was very important and would help them in their studies and jobs. The simple explanations of statistics and the practical exercises made the topic easier to understand and more fun for the students.
The workshop effectively taught students important skills in analyzing data and understanding business information. It gave them a good starting point for using these skills in their future studies and work.

Ms. Mahalakshmi, a Health and Wellness Coach from SixD Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., was the chief guest. She discussed the benefits of yoga for overall health, focusing on circadian rhythm and the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle. Students engaged in breathing exercises, yoga poses, and relaxation techniques, enhancing their understanding of yoga’s positive impact on wellbeing.

Keeping a golu, an essence of Navaratri celebrations in the south has it's own significance. In the first day of Navaratri, department of Computer science , computer application and Computer Science with AI are contributing idols , flowers and prasadam . On the 28th of September 2024, students from the S.A College of Arts and Science were given the prestigious opportunity to showcase their talents on DD Tamil Channel as part of a special program promoting the Swachh Bharat(Clean India) campaign. This event aimed to raise public awareness on the importance of cleanliness, sanitation, and environmental responsibility, encouraging citizens to actively participate in keeping India clean. Rotaract Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science Conducts 4th Installation Ceremony On October 1, 2024, the Rotaract Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science held its 4th installation ceremony, "Ignite," at the SACAS Preview Theatre. Hariharan from Third BCA and Afshan Bhanu from Third BBA were appointed as President and Secretary, respectively, along with 19 board members. The event featured a welcome address, lighting of the Kuthu Vilakku, and presentations, including the previous year's secretarial report. Inspirational speeches by Rotary members emphasized personal development. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Afshan Bhanu and an adjournment by Hariharan, marking a successful start to the new term.

The School of Management , S.A.College of Atrs & Science organised Financial Market Professional Certification Programme on "Fundamentals of Equity Research Analysis,"on 30.09.2024 and 01.10.2024 for MBA students. Mr. Glenn Roger Carr, Founder and Director of Finmark, was the resource person. The main focus of the workshop was on the secondary market. Mr. Glenn educated the students on the operations of the secondary market, role of derivatives and valuation of firm. He also explained how hedging of securities will help in reducing risk. emphasized the importance of these tools in stabilizing earnings and optimizing a firm's market value. The session not only provided an insight of secondary market but also emphasised the benefit of investment in secondary markets in spite of the risks involved. The session was interactive and thought provoking.
