Department of Accounting & Finance, the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals students organised on 16.08.2024
A state-level intercollegiate competition was held on August 16, 2024, in honour of Anti-Ragging Week, by the Department of Accounting & Finance, the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals, and the SACAS'ians Fin.Tech Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science.
The department's students organised this event and used the topic of "ANTI RAGGING" to host a variety of on-stage and off-stage competitions, providing a venue for other college students to showcase their abilities. This demonstrates the students' dedication to raising awareness of the significance of this event among the youngsters who will be tomorrow's leaders. The anti-ragging banner was signed by participants, as required by the organising committee. Participants in the competition included students from a variety of colleges in and around Chennai. In just a minute, they provided an opportunity to showcase their other talents as well. The winners received trophies, while Guru Nanak College of Chennai wins the overall trophy. There was a formal vote of thanks to close the occasion.

The Department of Visual Communication at S. A. College of Arts and Science organized a Graphic Design & VFX Workshop on August 16, 2024, led by Mr. Logeshwaran, Technical Head and VFX Trainer at Image Creative Education. The workshop introduced fundamentals of graphic design, covering typography, color models, and logo creation, with real-world examples like Nike and Baskin Robbins. His talks also included branding, UX design, motion graphics, and digital marketing strategies. The session concluded with advanced discussions on 3D VFX, game development, and industry practices, offering attendees valuable insights into design principles.

SACAS Celebrates 78th Independence Day with Enthusiasm On August 15, 2024, S.A. College of Arts & Science celebrated the 78th Independence Day with the theme "Viksit Bharat," focusing on transforming India into a developed nation. The event commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, led by the Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. Sayi Satyavathi, Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar and Dr. S. Ganapathy, HoD of Corp. Sec. The celebration featured a special address by the Director and the Principal, and included a vibrant parade and cultural programmes. Highlights included a Silambam performance by state and district-level sports players, creating an energetic and patriotic atmosphere. The performances underscored the event's celebratory spirit and the theme of national development, engaging attendees in a festive and inspiring Independence Day celebration.

The Department of Commerce (Bank Management) invited all Bank Management students to a guest lecture titled “Professional Development & Membership.” The event took place in the SACAS Auditorium on August 14, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. The Chief Guest CA Jayamani J, a Chartered Accountant with expertise in Accounting, Taxation, and Auditing, led the lecture. As a dedicated professional and educator, CA Jayamani J aimed to help students and professionals improve their skills in these areas. In this session around 186 students and 4 faculty participated. School of Management- MMA Student Chapter in association with MMA Chennai organised Expert Lecture on Digitalization- Enhancing Efficiency & importance of Understanding Data by Mr.Ajith Sai Krishna.R, Technical .Educator & Freelance Trainer on 14/08/2024. The guest speaker started the lecture highlighting the difference between Digitation, Digitalisation & Digital transformation. He educated the students on how Digitalization is transforming the business landscape by enhancing efficiency, streamlining operations, and enabling data-driven decision-making. However, the true potential of digitalization can only be realized when businesses understand the value of data, maintain its quality and integrity, and use it responsibly. Mr.Ajith highlighted about critical role digitalization plays in improving efficiency across business operations while highlighting the importance of understanding and managing data effectively . The speaker concluded by telling that, companies will continue to embrace digital technologies and those that prioritize data literacy and ethical data management will be better positioned to thrive in the digital age. The session gave insights on the importance of data and digitalisation in the future. The session was interactive and interesting.

College of Arts & Science organized a series of events on 14th August 2024 for primary school students from Kannampalayam and Mettupalayam. The celebrations included a variety of activities such as a fancy dress competition, speech contests, and sports events, all aimed at fostering a sense of patriotism and unity among the young participants. The event was met with enthusiastic participation, and the students displayed great creativity and talent. The initiative not only celebrated the spirit of independence but also provided the children with an opportunity to express themselves and develop their skills.

The event, held at the SACAS Theatre from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M., featured Mr. R. Krishnan, Head of Computer Science with AI, as the chief guest. Mr. Krishnan delivered an insightful address on the importance of organ donation, highlighting its role in saving lives and the need for greater awareness and participation. School of Management- MMA Student Chapter in association with MMA Chennai organised Expert Lecture on Gig Economy- Opportunities and Challenges by Dr.S.Jayachandran, Vice President , Marutham Group on 13/08/2024.The Guest highlighted the challenges of a Gig economy , he said that the gig economy is expanding and insisted the need for circular economy, where in the resources will be utilised to the maximum extent without wastage of resources. Dr. Jaychandran, said that, gig economy presents a complex mix of opportunities and challenges, he said that, while it offers unprecedented flexibility and access to income-generating opportunities, it also raises significant concerns about worker protections, income stability, and the broader socioeconomic impact. He also insisted the need for addressing these challenges through thoughtful policy and strategic investments, and said that stakeholders should help ensure that the gig economy contributes positively to economic growth and worker well-being in both developed and developing economies. The speaker said that the Gig sector in India will contribute to 1.25% to GDP by mid 2025 & by the year 2030 gig work force will reach 23.5 million by 2030. The session was educative and interactive.
