The Skill Elevation Club of the Department of Computer Science & Applications of S.A College of Arts & Science organized a students programme Tribute to Teachers called “STAFFALOGYon 03rd March 2023 in our College preview theatre.

Objectives:

The primary objective of the programme on tribute to teachers is to express gratitude towards the selfless service rendered by teachers in shaping the future of society. It was a platform to showcase the appreciation for the knowledge, wisdom, and skills imparted by teachers that have helped students in achieving their dreams.

Outcome:

The programme on tribute to teachers was an essential event that highlighted the significant role played by teachers in shaping the future of society. It not only acknowledged the hard work and dedication of teachers but also encouraged them to continue their efforts in shaping the future of society. The program also motivated the students to appreciate and value the role of teachers in their lives.

Conclusion:

The programme on tribute to teachers was an excellent way to express gratitude towards teachers for their valuable contributions to society. It was an event that brings together students and teachers to celebrate the tireless efforts of teachers in shaping the future of society. The programme served as a reminder of the essential role played by teachers and encourages everyone to acknowledge and appreciate their contributions.

   


TEKSACASIA’22 “ONE DAY TECHNICAL LEVEL SYMPOSIUM”

The Departments of Computer Science of S.A College of Arts & Science, organized TEKSACASIA’22- One Day Technical Level Symposium on 23rd September 2022.

Ms.Ruchitha B of II BCA presented the Master of Ceremony for the whole event.  Ms. Rajeshwarii Janavikulam of III BCA welcomed the gathering and Mr.Praveen S.L of  III BSc CS introduced the inaugural Chief Guest Dr. Nandhakumar UX/UI Designer, ZOHO Technologies. Totally more than 220 students from 20 colleges participated in the event. 

Dr. Nandhakumar delivered inaugural address. He motivated the students to develop their interview and current technology skills. He explained his own experience as an example to the students.  After the inaugural address, the events like 

Paper Presentation,

Debugging,

Web Designing and

Connections were started subsequently from 10.45 to 3.30. 

Ms.Rajeshwarii Janavikulam of III BCA introduced the Valedictory Chief Guest Mr. Balachandran Sundarajan, Data Engineer, CITIGROUP. He delivered valedictory address and encouraged the students to develop their skills and participate in various events like this. 

Dr. Nandhakumar, Mr. Balachandran Sundarajan and Mr. P.Chandrasekar, Head, Department of Computer Science gave away the prizes for the winners. The overall trophy was won by D.G Vaishnav College, Chennai.

Finally, the Programme ended with vote of thanks given by Ms.Janavi Sree of III BCA followed by National Anthem.

Department of Computer science hosted their stalls

A little step each day adds up to big results one day

As a little step, the students of the Department of Computer science hosted their stalls on the college premises on 17-12-2021.

These fests are organized with the objective to provide platform for the students to showcase their talents with a competitive spirit. The event was successful enough to attract as many as 550 students.

Many mouth-watering stalls were placed in the stall.

Several gaming events like Dart, Wire loop were also organized. The dart game received a huge audience response.

The Wire loop game continued to keep the audience entertained the full day.

The profit earned through these stalls was donated to “Bird’s Nest Charitable Trust’ in Avadi by the students.

The entire day was filled in memories for hundreds of students, displaying the hard work with a touch of ethnicity and culture.

   


Awareness Session on “STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION EXAMINATIONS”

The Department of Computer Science of S.A College of Arts & Science organized an awareness session on “STAFF SELECTION COMMISSION EXAMINATIONS” on 27th  December 2022 in SACAS Preview Theatre.

The resource person was Ms.Sneha Sabu, Young Professional, District Employment and Career Guidance Centre, Thiruvallur.

Around 175 students of all streams attended the session.

         

Mr.P.Chandrasekar, Head, Department of Computer Science welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest to the gathering.

 

The Programme began with the introductory session by the Guest. She highlighted on what is really lagging in our students and what the industry expects from the students.

She explained about different posts, salaries and vacancies offered by the Government. She explained about the qualifications and age limits of various posts with their scheme of  their exams.

Then she illustrated the process of registering in the portal. Then she explained various strategies and preparation tips. She highlighted the importance of reading the newspapers daily.

 

She also explained in detail about Tamilnadu Career Services Portal and National Service Portal.

Then there was a Question Answer session where the students asked many doubts and got clarified them.

Finally, the session ended with vote of thanks given by Ms.Ruchitha from II-year BCA.

   


Seminar on “CYBER SECURITY”

The Skill Elevation Club of the Department of Computer Science & Applications of S.A College of Arts & Science organized a seminar on  “CYBERSECURITY” on 09th March 2023 in First Floor Computer Science Classroom..

The resource person was Mr.Sureshkumar from Satvat infosol pvt ltd.

Objectives:

The primary objective of the seminar was to provide participants with a foundational understanding of cyber security concepts, threats, and best practices.

 

Methodology:

The seminar focused on the increasing threat of cyber attacks and the need for individuals and organizations to take necessary measures to protect themselves from such attacks. The resource person highlighted the various types of cyber attacks and the impact they can have on businesses and individuals. The speaker also stressed the importance of regularly updating software and implementing strong passwords as basic steps in ensuring cyber security.

Presentations:

After the keynote address, there were presentations on various topics related to cyber security. The topics covered included:

  • "Cyber Threat Landscape" : This presentation covered the various types of cyber threats, including phishing attacks, malware, and ransom ware. The presenter explained how these threats can be used to steal personal data and disrupt businesses.
  • "Securing Your Online Presence" : This presentation focused on the importance of securing online accounts, including email and social media accounts. The presenter provided tips on creating strong passwords and enabling two-factor authentication.
  • "Cybersecurity for Small Businesses": This presentation provided information on how small businesses can protect themselves from cyber attacks. The presenter emphasized the importance of backing up data and training employees on how to recognize and avoid phishing attacks.

Participants:

The workshop was attended by 93 students of BCA and B.Sc. Computer Science departments. The participants had a basic understanding of cyber security and were looking to expand their knowledge and skills.

Outcome:

The participants left the programme with a greater appreciation for the importance of cybersecurity and the skills and knowledge necessary to protect themselves from cyber threats.

Conclusion:

The seminar on cyber security was a success in creating awareness and educating participants on the importance of cyber security. It provided valuable information and insights on how individuals and organizations can protect themselves from cyber-attacks.


Seminar on “ INDUSTRY EXPECTATIONS FOR A CLOUD EXPERT”

The Skill Elevation Club of the Department of Computer Science & Applications of S.A College of Arts & Science organized a seminar on INDUSTRY EXPECTATIONS FOR A CLOUD EXPERT” on 19th  January 2023 in SACAS Preview Theatre.

The resource person was Mr.S.Vigneswaran, Senior Lead-Client Solution Specialist, Coron Technologies.

Around 200 students of all streams attended the session.

The Seminar aimed to provide students with an understanding of the skills and knowledge that are currently in demand in the field of Cloud Computing as well as the expectations of employers in the industry.

One of the main topics discussed at the seminar was the importance of hands-on experience and practical skills. The guest emphasized that while having a solid theoretical understanding of cloud computing is important, it is also crucial for students to have experience working with cloud platforms and tools, such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform. 

 

He also highlighted the need for students to be familiar with programming languages such as Python, Java, and JavaScript, as well as experience with automation and configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, and Chef.

Another important topic discussed at the seminar was the importance of soft skills in the field of cloud computing. The guest pointed that having strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team are critical for success in the industry. He also highlighted the need for cloud experts to be able to think strategically and have a strong understanding of business operations and processes.

The seminar also provided students with an opportunity to ask questions and seek advice from the guest. Many students asked about the best ways to gain experience and stand out in the field, as well as the most in-demand certifications and qualifications.

Finally, the session ended with vote of thanks given by Ms.Rajeswari Janavikulam from III-year BCA.

In conclusion, the seminar on “INDUSTRY EXPECTATIONS FOR A CLOUD EXPERT” provided valuable insights for students and young professionals looking to enter the field of cloud computing. 

It highlighted the importance of hands-on experience, practical skills, soft skills and certifications in the industry and the expectations of employers. It is a stepping stone for the students to align their skills and knowledge with the industry requirements and be successful in the field.


A Peer Seminar on “ RECENT SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENTS”

The Skill Elevation Club of the Department of Computer Science & Applications of S.A College of Arts & Science organized a peer seminar on RECENT SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENTS” on 27th  January 2023.

The resource person was Mr.S.L.Praveen, student of III B.Sc. Computer Science.

Around 95 students of BCA and B.Sc. Computer Science attended the session.

He started with Low code development, its uses and where and how it is used in latest fields. Examples were also given for better understanding.

Then he moved on to block chain which was explained briefly and he explained the concept of how it works. He also explained on where the block chain is used, its Pros and Cons.

He explained the importance of crypto currencies, bit coins, Ethereum in the block chain technology.

Internet of things was easy to understand as we are using it in our day today life like in smart watches, smart homes, cars etc… 

 

He gave the information about where it is used and how it made our life easy.

NFT was an interesting topic and he showed in which platform it is being used and the purpose of it. He also told how the products are sold using block chain technology.

Chat GPT was a new topic as it just came out for public use. He practically showed us how AI plays an important role making of life easier. He showed AI creating blogs and writing programs.

He demonstrated Dall-e, a AI image creation platform, He showed how the images are created using AI and what can we do with those images and how to make use of it. We saw how the keywords we type in are put into use by the AI using Dall-e.

The seminar also provided students with an opportunity to ask questions and seek advice from him. Many students asked about the best ways to gain experience and stand out in the field, as well as the most in-demand certifications and qualifications.

In conclusion, the seminar on “RECENT SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENTS” provided valuable insights for students and young professionals looking to enter the field of Software Development.


WORKSHOP ON PYTHON USING DATA SCIENCE

The Department of Computer Science of S.A College of Arts & Science organized a workshop on “PYTHON USING DATA SCIENCE” on          13th September 2022 in first floor computer science lab

The resource person was Ms.Nathiya and Ms. Sandhya,   Project Engineers from Pantech Solutions, Chennai. .

Around 73 students of BCA and B.Sc. Computer Science attended the workshop.

Mr.P.Chandrasekar, Head, Department of Computer Science welcomed the gathering and introduced the Speakers Ms. Nathiya and Ms. Sandhya, Project Engineers from PANTECH SOLUTIONS.

 

The Programme began with the introductory session by the Ms. Nathiya. She highlighted on what is Data Science and explained the applications of Data Science like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning & Deep Learning.

 

She also deeply explained about AI and ML with its types and functions. She explained the classification of algorithms and open-source library like pandas and numpy. 

 

To make everything clear a hands-on experience was taken with practical sessions by running programs using pandas and numpy where the students worked on 1d and 2d arrays.

Then the working project of Pantech Learning where they have used Data Science with python to analyze COVID – 19 situations with variables like death cases, recovery cases and affected cases were clearly demonstrated.

 

Finally, the Program ended with vote of thanks given by Ms. Rajeswarii Janavikulam of III-year BCA.


Seminar on “PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT”

The Department of Computer Science & Applications  of S.A College of Arts & Science organized a seminar on “PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT AND PLACEMENT TIPS ” on 11th  December 2022 in SACAS Preview Theatre.

The resource person was Ms. Ms.Arshi.C.Shiyal, Programme Trainer, Rexona Confidence Academy.

Around 180 girl students of all streams attended the session.

         

Mr.P.Chandrasekar, Head, Department of Computer Science & Applications welcomed the gathering and introduced the guest to the gathering.

 

The Programme began with the introductory session by the Guest. She highlighted the importance of Confidence while facing Interviews.

She explained about different situations and scenarios of interviews.

She instructed some important points like

  • Dress Code
  • Dress Color
  • Dress Type
  • Shoes Type
  • Hair Style
  • Make up

while going for interviews.

She also added value points like

  • Arrival time to the interview destination.
  • Body language while entering interview room.
  • How to react for out of box questions.
  • Things to add on to the resume to look good.
  • Personal hygiene for girls.
  • Diet while going for interviews.

 

Then there was a Question Answer session where the students asked many doubts and got clarified them.

Finally, the session ended with vote of thanks given by Ms.Rajeswari Janavikulam from III-year BCA.


Peer Workshop on “PHOTOSHOP”

Photoshop is a powerful image editing and manipulation tool used by photographers, graphic designers, and digital artists to create and edit digital images. Keeping this in mind, The Skill Elevation Club of the Department of Computer Science & Applications of S.A College of Arts & Science organized a peer workshop on PHOTOSHOP” on 27th  February 2023 in Ground Floor CG Lab.

The resource person was Mr.S.L.Praveen, student of III B.Sc. Computer Science, S.A.College of Arts & Science.

Objectives:

The primary objective of this workshop is to provide training on Adobe Photoshop software to the students and to demonstrate how to use the techniques to create stunning digital artwork.

Methodology:

The workshop was held in Computer Graphics Lab on 27-02-2023 at 10 am. The workshop was conducted by Mr.S.L.Praveen, student of III B.Sc. Computer Science who provided lectures and demonstrations on techniques such as digital compositing, photo manipulation, and text effects. 

Participants were provided with access to online tutorials, sample files, and projects for hands-on practice.

Participants:

The workshop was attended by 42 participants who never had any experience with Adobe Photoshop and were looking to gain new knowledge and develop their skills.

Content:

The workshop covered the following topics:

  • Digital compositing techniques
  • Layers, masks, filters, and tools.
  • Cropping, resizing, color correction and retouching.
  • Photo manipulation techniques
  • Advanced selection and masking techniques
  • Advanced color correction and adjustment techniques
  • Advanced text effects
  • Advanced blending modes and filters

The instructor provided hands-on practice sessions after each topic to reinforce the concepts learned. Participants were also encouraged to ask questions and seek clarification on any doubts they had.

 

Outcome:

The participants gained a deeper understanding of Adobe Photoshop and its features. They were able to create stunning digital artwork using the techniques they learned during the workshop. Participants appreciated the hands-on practice sessions and found the workshop engaging and informative.

Conclusion:

The Peer Workshop on Adobe Photoshop Workshop was successful in achieving its objectives of providing training on Adobe Photoshop software and demonstrating how to use the techniques to create stunning digital artwork. The workshop was well-received by the participants, and they left with a deeper understanding of Adobe Photoshop and its capabilities.
