ZERAG 2025: SACAS Unites Against Ragging with Powerful Awareness Events.
The Department of Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science, along with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS’ians Fin.Tech Club, hosted ZERAG – Anti-Ragging Week Events on August 13, 2025. Students from all departments were invited to take part in a series of impactful activities promoting a ragging-free campus.
The day began with a Human Chain by A&F students from SV School Gate to SAEC Gate, symbolizing unity and spreading public awareness. They also conducted an Anti-Ragging Rally from 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., starting from the college entrance and proceeding to the arch. Students actively participated, holding placards displaying anti-ragging slogans. Following this, inter-departmental events based on the anti-ragging theme included Essay Writing, Poster Making (online/offline), Speech, Slogan Writing, and Short Film.
ZERAG aimed to educate students about the serious consequences of ragging while encouraging values like respect, empathy, and inclusion. The event not only raised awareness but also strengthened SACAS' commitment to safety and harmony, leaving a strong message across the campus.

SACAS Spreads Awareness: United Stand Against Drug Abuse On 11th August 2025, the Department of Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science conducted a powerful Anti-Drug Awareness Programme as part of the “Drug-Free Tamil Nadu” initiative. The event aimed to educate students on the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle, inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Chief Minister Thiru M.K. Stalin.
Over 2,000 students took the anti-drug pledge in their classrooms under the guidance of faculty mentors. The session featured Mr. Akash, Sub-Inspector, Thiruverkadu Police Station, who delivered an informative and eye-opening talk on drug types, their availability, and the mental, physical, and social impacts of usage.
The programme effectively raised awareness, encouraged self-discipline, and promoted collective responsibility among students. It left a lasting impact, motivating youth to say NO to drugs and build a safer, healthier society through shared commitment and peer awareness.








Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) successful meet of Pioneers & Professionals - Alumni Insights: Session 2 on 08.08.2025
In collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals, the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) arranged a successful meet of Pioneers & Professionals - Alumni Insights: Session 2 on Friday, 8 th August 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 11.00 a. m. at the TF 23.
This session was targeted to fill this gap between the academic curriculum and the professional practice by filing the information gap between the successful alumni of schools and those who are current students. The guest of honor on the day was one of the most prominent alumni of the department Ms. Sreemathi E who motivated students with a glimpse of her personal as well as professional life.
Ms. Sreemathi addressed approximately the same topic in her speech because she followed the example of students entering the corporate world after student life with its challenges and some issues that I have to face. She said that it is important to be adaptable, have a never-ending learning experience, and possess a good knowledge of accounting and finance rules and regulations.
The session proved to be very interactive and students engaged well with the speaker asking lots of questions and even having a discussion on the issue. Ms. The grounded experiences and pieces of advice given by Sreemathi gave insights and inspiration to students as they embark on their journeys of making their own career paths.
The session successfully bridged the gap between academic learning and real-world professional practice, offering students valuable exposure to industry expectations and career readiness.

Bridging Academia and Industry: SACAS Signs MoU with FEDCOT On August 7, 2025, the Department of Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the SACAS’ians Fin.Tech Club, hosted a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with the Federation of Consumer Organisations of Tamil Nadu (FEDCOT), Chennai. Held at the SACAS Auditorium from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, the event marked a crucial step toward strengthening academia-industry ties.
The MoU aims to promote consumer awareness, financial literacy, and ethical digital engagement among students. It lays the foundation for collaborative workshops, training, research, and outreach initiatives. Esteemed guests from FEDCOT and the Consumer Confederation of India (CCI), including Dr. M. Selvaraj and Mr. Joe Raymond, delivered impactful speeches on youth empowerment and social responsibility.
This collaboration promises long-term academic growth, real-time industry exposure, and a deeper understanding of consumer rights and ethical financial practices, shaping students into responsible, financially literate citizens.

Alumni Connect: Real-World Lessons at SACAS.
The Department of Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a session titled “Pioneers & Professionals: Alumni Insights” on 1st August 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.
The guest speaker was Ms. Jaya Shree, a proud alumna and a Banking Operations Associate, who shared her journey from college to the corporate world. She spoke about the transition from student life to the workplace and highlighted key skills such as adaptability, communication, and continuous learning.
The session was interactive, with students asking questions about career planning, resume building, interviews, and work-life balance. Ms. Jaya Shree’s friendly and engaging approach made the event both informative and inspiring.
She encouraged students to stay focused, seize opportunities, and always value their roots.The session gave students a clear insight into real-world expectations and motivated them to shape successful careers.






Department of Accounting and Finance has conducted a First Aid Training Program held on 18.07.2025
In collaboration with National service scheme (NSS) and Red Ribbon Club (RRC), the Department of Accounting and Finance has conducted a First Aid Training Program held on Friday 18 th July 2025 at SACAS auditorium.
Ms. S. Varshini, Project Officer & Trainer of an established organization, ALERT that has professional know-how on emergency response and first aid education, conducted this session. It was conducted between 9.30 a.m and 11.30 a.m. This training was attended by many aspiring students.
The aim of the program was to establish awareness of simple first aid procedures so that the students acquire skills that would enable them to act confidently when medical situations need their attention. Ms. Varshini addressed the most critical issues about CPR, dealing with cuts and burns, how to react to unconsciousness, choking, and bleed management, conducted an interactive presentation, live demonstrations, and real-life scenarios.
The session stressed on the necessity of being a good citizen and responsive citizen and that immediate and right action may sometimes save lives. The students actively attended the demonstration part and eliminated their confusion on emergency procedure.
Outcome:
The students became more confident dealing with real medical conditions that may arise in life like faints, bleeding, fractures, burn and heart attacks.











Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACASA'IANS FIN TECH CLUB have extended their collaboration with Heartfulness Educational Trust by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 11.07.2025
The Department of Accounting & Finance in association with SACASA of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACASA'IANS FIN TECH CLUB have extended their collaboration with Heartfulness Educational Trust by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Friday, 11 July 2025 at 10:00 AM in the Principal's Office.
The MoU is a revision of the MoU dated 11 November 2022 (Ref: MOU_BE 451205) and all aspects of the previous MoU will be the same terms and conditions.
It should be noted that today was merely a signing of a MoU, the formal collaborative program pertinent to this association will be organized at a later date and communicated accordingly.
This agreement builds upon a commitment to the spatial mindfulness and notions of wellness and holistic based educational practices among students through the initiatives provided by the Heartfulness Educational Trust.

SACAS Welcomes Commerce A&F Freshers with a Grand Celebration Chennai, July 4, 2025 — The Department of Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science hosted Freshers Day 2025 on Friday, 4th July, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the college auditorium.
Jointly organized with the Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACASIAN FIN TECH CLUB, the event warmly welcomed second-year commerce students into their academic journey with enthusiasm and a sense of community.
The Head of the Department opened the event with a motivating speech, highlighting the department’s vision. Professionals and club members addressed the students, sharing valuable insights on career opportunities and the importance of active engagement.
The cultural segment featured vibrant music, dance, and performances by senior students, followed by fun ice-breaker games.
Various student-led clubs were introduced to encourage participation in co-curricular activities.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and refreshments, setting a positive, energetic tone for the new academic year.












S.A. College of Arts & Science organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign on 26.06.2025
S.A. College of Arts & Science organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Campaign for all of its students. The purpose of the campaign was to create awareness about drug abuse, promote a healthy lifestyle among students, and encourage students to take a stand against drug abuse.
Key Highlights:
- Pledge Ceremony:
Each student participated in the Anti-Drug Pledge pledge as an active participant, pledging to stay away from drugs and assure others in the communities they belong to of the consequences of drug abuse.
- Form Submission:
A total of 1285 students completed and submitted the official anti-drug awareness forms, signifying their participation in the awareness campaign.
- E-Certificate Submission:
Students took pledge through Tamil Nadu Government Portal and then downloaded and submitted a soft copy version of their certificates to show they participated in the awareness campaign and completed the pledge.
- Awareness Sessions:
Students were given brief awareness messages that outlined drug abuse, peer pressure, and ways to reach out for help for themselves or others who may have issues with drug abuse.
Outcome:
Students developed a sense of responsibility and reaffirmed their commitment to be drug free in society and within their communities. The campaign also disseminated the message of having a healthier aware population of students thus having a positive contribution towards achieving the national mission of a Drug-Free India.




Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), in collaboration with the Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals organized a two-day Industrial Visit
The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), in collaboration with the Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS), organized a two-day Industrial Visit to Hatsun Agro Product Ltd., Redhills on 23rd and 24th June 2025. The visit was scheduled from 09.00 a.m. to 01.00 p.m. on both days.
This visit was aimed at bringing an end to the theoretical knowledge and imparting practical exposure to the students through giving them an actual understanding of the working and financial domain of a top dairy firm.
The Department visited it on 23rD June 2025 and 37 girls students attended the visit, on 24th January 2025 35 boy students were involved in the visit. Three faculty members accompanied the students throughout the program and made sure that they were guided, safe and coordinated.
The students were also shown different areas of the plant namely procurement, processing, packaging, and distribution plants. They also had the interactive session with the company personnel who discussed about the company supply chain management, quality control practices, financial activities and technological intervention in dairy product. The experience gave the students a good exposure to real-life learning which supplemented their learning in accounting and finance.
The feedback session at the end of the visit demonstrated gratitude on behalf of the students, who described their impressions and gained insights accompanied by the visit. The Department will continue to train more such industrial visits that will allow experiential learning to the students and develop career readiness.
