SACAS Men’s Badminton Team Shines as Runners-Up at University of Madras B-Zone Tournament.

The S.A. College of Arts & Science Men’s Badminton Team achieved a historic milestone by securing the Runner-Up Trophy at the University of Madras Men’s B-Zone Badminton Tournament 2025–2026, held on 3rd September 2025.

In a spirited final match against D.G. Vaishnav College, the SACAS team put up a strong fight but ended the game with a 0–2 scoreline. Despite the result, this marks the first-ever Runner-Up finish for the college, making it a proud moment for the institution.

The talented team included:
M. N. Yaakesh, M. Bharath, A. Deepak,Kesava Raj ,C. Nithilan.

The Department of Physical Education congratulated the players on their remarkable achievement and wished them continued success in future tournaments.


CM Trophy Thiruvallur District Weightlifting Championship 2025-2026

our SACAS University women's weightlifter Oviya, from 2nd B.Sc. Nutrition, won the gold medal with a cash award of ₹3000 in the CM Trophy Thiruvallur District Weightlifting Championship 2025-2026 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai. She lifted a total of 112 kg in the 48 kg category (Snatch: 52 kg + Clean and Jerk: 60 kg). On behalf of the Department of Physical Education.

The Department of Physical Education, S.A. College of Arts & Science, proudly congratulates P. Harshini, 1st Year B.A. English, for her remarkable achievement in winning the Bronze Medal at the 4th Senior National Taekwondo Championship 2025–2026 held in Cuttack, Odisha.

Harshini’s hard work, dedication, and fighting spirit have brought glory to SACAS, making the institution proud on the national stage. Her achievement is a true inspiration for fellow students and budding athletes to pursue sports with passion and perseverance.

National Sports Day a short information about it...

Major Dhyan Chand (29 August 1905 – 3 December 1979) was an Indian field hockey player. He is widely regarded as the greatest field hockey player in history.He was known for his extraordinary ball control and goal-scoring feats, in addition to earning three Olympic gold medals, in 1928, 1932 and 1936, during an era where India dominated field hockey. Dhyan Chand's influence extended beyond these victories, as India won the field hockey event in seven out of eight Olympics from 1928 to 1964.

our SACAS Boys Chess player Sam Peniel.P of 1st BCOM General A section won the Winner Trophy with 5000/- cash award in the 12 th TAMILNADU STATE CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED 2025 at The CLARKE School of Deaf , Mylapoor, date on 23rd & 24th August 2025. SACAS Men’s Badminton Team bags Winner Trophy at YMCA BUCK Memorial Tournament Chennai, July 24:

The men's badminton team of S.A. College of Arts & Science achieved a historic victory by winning the Winner Trophy for the first time at the prestigious YMCA BUCK Memorial State Level Intercollegiate Men's Badminton Tournament held in Chennai.

Organized at the YMCA grounds, the SACAS team triumphed in the semifinal with a 3-0 win over RMK Vivekananda College. Star player M.N. Yaakesh won the first singles (15-8, 15-6), A. Deepak secured the second singles (15-11, 15-9), and the Yaakesh-Deepak duo clinched the doubles (15-10, 15-7).

In a thrilling final, SACAS defeated Gurunanak College 3-0. Yaakesh, Barath, and the doubles pair dominated in tightly contested matches.

The Department of Physical Education congratulates the players and extends heartfelt thanks to the management, principal, staff, and students for their unwavering support.

Grand Celebration of 101st International Chess Day with Block Level Tournament at SACAS on 15.07.2025

Grand Celebration of 101st International Chess Day with Block Level Tournament at SACAS 

The Department of Physical Education at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Poonamallee, celebrated the 101st International Chess Day by organizing a grand Block Level Chess Competition for the academic year 2025–2026. The zonal-level tournament, covering both Poonamallee and Avadi regions, was inaugurated by Dr. S. Ganapathy,  Head of the Department of Corporate Secretaryship. 

A total of 60 schools participated, with 253 students from the Avadi zone and 183 from the Poonamallee zone. The competition featured four categories: U-11, U-14, U-17, and U-19, for both boys and girls.

The event was successfully coordinated by Mr. G. Sivamaran, Director of Physical Education, along with Assistant DPEs Mr. R. Haribabu, Mrs. J.H. Vasantha Lakshmi, and Ms. S. Sandhiya. The tournament promoted strategic thinking, sportsmanship, and a love for chess among school students.
