DEPARTMENT OF B. COM ACCOUNTING & FINANCE“PIONEERS & PROFESSIONALS – ALUMNI INSIGHTS: SESSION 3”

In collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals, the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) arranged a successful meet of Pioneers & Professionals - Alumni Insights: Session 3 on Friday, 22nd August 2025, between 9.30 a.m. and 10.30 a. m. at the TF 23.

This session was targeted to fill this gap between the academic curriculum and the professional practice by filing the information gap between the successful alumni of schools and those who are current students. The guest of honor on the day was one of the most prominent alumni of the department MR.VISHVA & MR.AJAY KUMAR, ENTREPRENEUR, who motivated students with a glimpse of her personal as well as professional life.

They addressed approximately the same topic in their speech because they followed the example of students entering the corporate world after student life with its challenges and some issues that I have to face. She said that it is important to be adaptable, have a never-ending learning experience, and possess a good knowledge of accounting and finance rules and regulations.

The session proved to be very interactive and students engaged well with the speaker asking lots of questions and even having a discussion on the issue. Ms. The grounded experiences and pieces of advice given by Sreemathi gave insights and inspiration to students as they embark on their journeys of making their own career paths.


The session successfully bridged the gap between academic learning and real-world professional practice, offering students valuable exposure to industry expectations and career readiness

The Department of Visual Communication, S.A. College of Arts & Science, hosted “Parking in Glory – A Tribute to the 71st National Film Awardees” on August 21, 2025, at SACAS Theatre. Celebrating the acclaimed Tamil film “Parking”, the event honoured its achievements in Best Tamil Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor.

Renowned actor M. S. Bhaskar and director Ramkumar Balakrishnan graced the event, sharing insights on acting, screenplay writing, and the journey of Tamil cinema. The program featured a film screening, student tributes, and interactive sessions that inspired over 200 students and faculty members from across Chennai.

Highlights included a portrait sketch by a first-year student, a poetic tribute, and a special felicitation ceremony. The event offered students a unique learning experience and reinforced the department’s commitment to blending cinema and education, making it a truly memorable occasion.

The School of Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science organized EMBRACE’25 – an orientation program for future leaders on August 21, 2025, from 09:30 to 11:30 am at the SACAS Auditorium. Mr. Vinai Katariya, Vice President – Barclays Pvt. Ltd, Chennai, was the guest speaker.

Mr. Katariya’s session focused on the real value of an MBA in today’s world, emphasizing leadership beyond academics. He discussed essential industry-ready skills such as communication, analytical thinking, adaptability, and problem-solving. He encouraged students to bridge the gap between theory and practice to meet industry expectations. The session was insightful and provided students with a clear roadmap to leverage their MBA journey for career advancement.

A major focus was on what the industry truly seeks from MBA graduates. The session outlined the core competencies that set top candidates apart, such as communication, analytical skills, adaptability, and a problem-solving approach. Students were encouraged to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry needs, equipping themselves with the essential abilities that employers value most. Overall, the session prepared students to meet industry demands confidently and laid out a roadmap for using their MBA education to gain a competitive edge in their careers.

The School of Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science organized an EMRACE’25- Orientation program for future leaders on August 21, 2025, Timing: 11:15 am to 1:00 am, at the SACAS Auditorium Mr.Sivakumar, CEO of Capital market services, Chennai was the guest speaker.

The session gave students useful ideas about management, emotional intelligence, and how to connect what they learn with real-life situations. Mr. Sivakumar shared his experiences and explained that good leadership starts with knowing yourself, being confident, and handling emotions well. He spoke about how emotional intelligence (EI) helps people grow both personally and professionally. Students learned about the Emotional Competence Framework, which combines feelings with management skills to solve problems. He also talked about the importance of thinking ahead instead of reacting quickly when making decisions. One interesting part of the session was the link between positive emotions, creativity, and strong leadership. Students were encouraged to build self-awareness, confidence, flexibility, and take responsibility to succeed in their careers. In the end, the session was very enriching, leaving students motivated to use emotional intelligence in their studies and future work.

The Department of Visual Communication, at S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a special event featuring the grand screening of Movie 377, created by students and faculty of SRM University. Notably, the film’s director, Mr. Amrit Raj Gnanam, CO-Director Mr. R. D. Balaji—former faculty of SRM and now Course Director at SACAS—was present with the film crew for a live interaction session.

The event also marked the official inauguration of the M.Sc. Visual Communication Batch of 2025. The program began with a graceful Ganesh Vandana by Ms. Naveena and a song release by the III Year Viscom Students. An engaging interaction round for the new batch was organised. Dr. Bala Kumar delivered the welcome address, with a special address by HoD Dr. Srinivasan R., and a programme overview by Mr. Balaji. Coordination and anchoring were managed by Dr. Kamna and team, with Ms. Shridevi handling registration and felicitation.

Movie 377 is a student-made suspense thriller that explores themes such as sexual crimes against boys, the concept of good and bad touch, and the judicial process. The film avoids typical commercial tropes and adopts a realistic style using the Stanislavski method of acting. The cast and crew—including Balaji, Mukesh, Narayanan, and others—were present for a Q&A session with students.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm, curiosity, and the impressive studio setup at SACAS. The programme was successful with the support of the Correspondent, Director and the Principal of SACAS.

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized an Anti-Drug Awareness Program titled “Truth About Drugs: Don’t Do Drugs, Don’t Be a Slave to Chemicals” on 20th August 2025 at the SACAS Auditorium. The event aimed to educate students and the community about the dangers of drug abuse and promote healthy lifestyle choices.

The session featured Ms. D. Subashini, Inspector, and Ms. M. Bhuvaneswari, Sub-Inspector from Poonamallee, who shared real-life experiences and highlighted the harmful effects of drugs on health, mind, and society. They also addressed common myths related to substance abuse.

The program focused on informed decision-making, personal responsibility, and the importance of saying NO to drugs. It inspired students to lead meaningful lives by making better choices. The event successfully raised awareness, encouraged open discussion, and motivated youth to build a drug-free future, spreading the message that every choice matters and life is too precious to waste.

Department of Accounting and Finance of S.A. College of Arts & Science joined hands with the association of Accounting and Finance Professionals, accounting and Finance department, SACAS Campus and the SACAS Fin.Tech Club to proudly present an Interdepartmental Event Anti-Drug Awareness on August 19, 2025 at the SACAS Campus.

The event was aimed at creating awareness on students of the negative impact of drug abuse, as well as to motivate them to become agents of change that will enable them to have a healthy drug-free society. The programme was also used to expose the students in various departments to exhibit their creativity, talent and viewpoints via various competitive activities.

Independence Day Celebrated with Patriotic Spirit at S.A. College of Arts & Science

S.A. College of Arts & Science celebrated the 79th Independence Day with pride and enthusiasm. The Tamil Department beautifully organized the entire program, which took place in the college campus on August 15th. The event began with the flag hoisting ceremony. 

The Principal, Heads of various Departments, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students were present for the celebration. Students showcased their talents through patriotic speeches, songs, and dance performances, highlighting the spirit of freedom and unity.

Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, the Principal addressed the gathering and shared a kutty story (short story) about Ethics, which inspired both students and staff. The story emphasized the importance of self-control and responsibility in personal and national growth.

The program ended with a vote of thanks, appreciating everyone’s efforts. The event was a grand success, promoting patriotism and discipline among students.
