Insightful Guest Lecture on Equity Market Enlightens SACAS Students.

The Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and the Department of Bank Management of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a guest lecture on the Equity Market on October 10, 2025, at the Thiruverkadu campus. The session was led by Dr. R. Amuthan, Program Officer at SEBI and Coordinator for NSE and CDSL – Investor Protection Department.

Dr. Amuthan shared valuable insights on the structure and functioning of capital markets, investment strategies, and the importance of investor protection. He explained trading mechanisms, the role of SEBI in ensuring transparency, and the significance of CDSL in secure transactions. Students learned about Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) and safe investment practices through real-life examples.

The lecture saw active participation from 62 students and provided practical financial knowledge that bridged theory and real-world application. The event was both informative and inspiring, leaving students motivated to explore careers in finance.

An awareness programme on Women’s Safety and the POCSO Act was conducted at S.A. College of Arts & Science, Thiruverkadu, Chennai, jointly organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA). Advocate Mr. V. Natarajan from the Madras High Court served as the chief guest and delivered an insightful session using presentations to explain the significance and provisions of the POCSO Act, as well as measures to ensure the safety of girl children. Students actively participated, raised thoughtful questions, and gained valuable legal awareness. The session proved highly beneficial for their personal and social understanding of child protection laws. The college management made excellent arrangements to ensure the success of the event.

SACAS Visual Communication Hosts Seminar on Fact-Checking in the Digital Era.

The Department of Visual Communication at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu Fact Check Unit (FCU), Government of Tamil Nadu, organized a seminar on “Fact-Checking in the Digital Era: Building Responsible Media Citizens.”

The event opened with a welcome address by Dr. Srinivasan, Head of the Department, followed by introductions by Prof. Shridevi. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Iyan Karthikeyan, Mission Director, TN Fact Check Unit, who shared field experiences on combating misinformation and the growing importance of fact-checking in today’s media landscape.

Coordinated by Dr. Sheik Mohamed, the seminar featured active participation from students, with Amritha (III B.Sc. Visual Communication) as MC and Dr. Kamna Kandpal delivering the vote of thanks. The department expressed gratitude to the management, faculty, and students whose contributions made the seminar a resounding success.


Golu Celebration Day 9

The Ninth day of Golu Celebration was organized by the School of Management on campus., The event reflected integration of tradition, devotion and cultural wisdom, highlighting the significance of Indian Knowledge System in fostering holistic learning and values. The students of SOM performed bajan . The celebration was aligned with SDG 3 Good Health and Wellbeing SDG4 Quality Education imparting traditional values.

 The event demonstrated how celebrations like Golu blend devotion, creativity and learning reaffirming the role of Indian tradition in nurturing sustainable values and community well being.

SACAS Hosts International Workshop on Cyber Security.

The Department of Computer Applications,S.A College of Arts & Science in collaboration with The Skill Elevation Club, organized an International Workshop on Cyber Security on 30th September 2025 at the Computer Science Lab. The session, held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., witnessed active participation from over 120 students of B.Sc. Computer Science and BCA, along with faculty members.

The distinguished resource person, Mr. Jubair Ahmed, M.Sc. Cyber Security with Advanced Research, University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom, delivered an insightful lecture on the growing importance of safeguarding personal and organizational data. He explained common cyber threats such as phishing, malware, and hacking, while also highlighting practical defense measures including multi-factor authentication, secure browsing, and cyber hygiene practices.

The interactive session encouraged students to discuss real-world cyber issues and inspired them to adopt safe digital practices. The workshop broadened awareness, strengthened IT skills, and motivated students to view cyber security as a key career path.


Golu Celebrations Day 7

The eighth day of the SACAS Golu was marked by serene devotion and cultural vibrance. In the morning, the Department of B.Com A&F performed the pooja, gracefully led by the Head of the Department. Symbolically, the department placed their books before the Golu, seeking blessings of knowledge and wisdom, resonating with the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) philosophy of “Vidya Dhanam Sarva Dhanam Pradhanam” (Knowledge is the supreme wealth). Two students chanted a series of mantras, creating a divine and peaceful ambiance, while a staff member rendered a soulful devotional song, elevating the spiritual aura of the day.

In the afternoon, the Departments of English and Tamil conducted their pooja, guided by their respective HODs. English department student added uniqueness by singing a devotional hymn in English, beautifully blending tradition with modern expression. The Tamil department emphasized the richness of native culture, linking IKS with language preservation. The celebration also aligned with SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), highlighting the value of cultural heritage, learning, and harmony within the academic community.

The sixth day of the Golu Pooja celebration was organized by the Department of B.Com Bank Management and B.Com Computer Applications with devotion and cultural vibrancy. The program began with traditional rituals and offerings, highlighting the principles of Indian Knowledge Systems that emphasize discipline, gratitude, and harmony. Faculty members and students actively participated, creating a spiritual and serene environment.A key highlight was the devotional songs performed by the students. With devotion and melody, they rendered bhajans and keerthanas that invoked divine blessings and elevated the collective spirit of the gathering. Their performance reflected the timeless values of bhakti (devotion) and samskara (cultural refinement), central to Indian traditions, showing how art and spirituality are interwoven in our heritage.The Golu display symbolized the journey of wisdom and cultural continuity, while the pooja reinforced humility, faith, and unity. The event strengthened departmental bonds and nurtured appreciation of India’s rich spiritual legacy.

Smart Investing: SASOM Students Gain Insights from Industry Expert.

The School of Management, S.A.College of Arts & Science in association with The Week, organized a Guest Lecture on Smart Investing and Recent Trends in Portfolio on September 23, 2025, at 11.00 a.m. in the SACAS Theatre. The lecture was delivered by Mr. Sridhar M., Assistant Vice President, White Oak Capital.

Mr. Sridhar emphasized the importance of investment and guided students on different avenues available for investors. He explained that smart investing means making decisions that align with financial goals, balancing risk and return, and avoiding overdependence on a single asset or sector. He stressed that investments should be cost-efficient, well-researched, and made only in government-regulated instruments.

Speaking about the Indian market, he highlighted that opportunities are strong, but risks exist, and success depends on discipline, good governance, and a balance between growth and safety. The session was highly interactive, with students actively participating and gaining practical financial knowledge.

MBA Students Explore Innovation at Inspace Furniture Solutions at SASOM.

The School of Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized an Industrial Visit for MBA students to Inspace Furniture Solutions, Uthukottai, on September 23, 2025. The visit was centered around the theme “Integrating Human Capital and Logistics Efficiency in Practice.”

The II MBA students specializing in HR and Logistics gained valuable exposure to modern manufacturing practices. They observed advanced machinery such as robotic welding machines, steel cutting systems, particle board applications, Edge Tech and Wood Tech machines, and the Quick CNC machine integrated with AutoCAD for customized designs. Students also witnessed the use of particle wood in furniture making, including chairs for offices and laboratories, and the Qblacer machine for cutting steel tubes.

Beyond furniture production, the unit also engages in agriculture, cultivating fruits, vegetables, and flowers, along with dairy farming. The visit enriched students with practical insights, connecting academic learning to real-world applications in manufacturing and allied industries.

The School of Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science, conducted a workshop on Program titled “Digital Marketing” on September 15 to 22, 2025 for MBA students. The session focused on the theme “Transforming Knowledge into Practice through Digital Marketing Training” Mr. Rinaldo, Managing Director of Acadzy Training, along with trainers Ms. Anu and Ms. Kavitha, conducted an insightful session on digital marketing basics. The trainers explained key concepts such as strategies, channels, and marketing funnels, along with domains, hosting, website creation, and blog development. They also guided us on opening digital channels for our services, which gave students a clear understanding of how digital marketing works in practice. The session offered both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure, making it highly impactful for the students. Hands-on training in creating websites and designing posters using different tools proved especially valuable, as it helped students apply their learning in real time. Overall, the session was attractive, engaging, and extremely useful for MBA students, equipping them with essential digital marketing skills that will support their academic and professional growth. The training successfully combined theory with practice, ensuring students gained both knowledge and practical skills. It was a well-structured and beneficial session that left a lasting impression on the MBA participants.
