77th Republic Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour at SACAS

The Department of Physical Education of S. A. College of Arts & Science organised the 77th Republic Day celebration with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit on the college campus. The programme began with the hoisting of the National Flag by Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, followed by a parade. In her Republic Day address, Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar highlighted the significance of the Indian Constitution, democratic values, and the responsibility of citizens in nation-building and empathy.

A special address was delivered by Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, Director, who inspired the gathering by emphasizing discipline, unity, and commitment to national progress. The celebration was further enlivened by a vibrant patriotic dance performance, which captivated the audience and reflected the rich cultural heritage and love for the nation among the students.

The event was meticulously organised by Dr. A. Ramakrishnan, Director of Physical Education, whose efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the programme. The celebration concluded with the National Anthem on a high note, fostering a deep sense of patriotism and pride among the participants.

The Republic Day Gram Sabha was held on 26.01.2026 at the Kannampalayam Community Hall, with the active participation of UBA students of S.A. College of Arts & Science. The programme focused on creating awareness among villagers about citizens’ rights, duties, and rural development initiatives.

During the event, the students interacted with the local community, assisted in discussions, and supported the smooth conduct of the Gram Sabha proceedings. Their involvement helped in encouraging public participation and strengthening communication between the villagers and the authorities.

The enthusiastic participation of the UBA students reflected their strong sense of social responsibility, civic awareness, and commitment to community development and nation-building. State-Level Inter-School Sports Meet Organized at SACAS.

The Department of Physical Education, S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a State-Level Inter-School Sports Meet for Boys and Girls from 19 January 2026 to 23 January 2026 at SACAS Ground. The tournament featured boys’ events in Cricket, Futsal, and Kho-Kho, and Throwball for girls.

The sports meet witnessed enthusiastic participation from 61 schools across the state. Students displayed excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, and competitive spirit throughout the events, making the tournament lively and successful.

The prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Dr. S. Ganapathy, IQAC Coordinator, and Dr. A. Ramakrishnan, Director of Physical Education, who congratulated the winners and appreciated the efforts of all participants. The event promoted physical fitness, discipline, and unity among school students.

The National Voter’s Day Pledge was observed on 24 January 2026 at 9.30 a.m. in the college premises of S.A. College of Arts & Science. The programme was organized by the Rotaract Club with the objective of creating awareness about the importance of voting and active participation in the democratic process.

Students and faculty members participated enthusiastically in the event. During the pledge, participants reaffirmed their responsibility to vote ethically, responsibly, and without fear or external influence. The programme highlighted the role of young voters in upholding democratic values and strengthening the electoral system of the nation.

The event successfully inspired students to recognize the power of their vote and encouraged them to contribute positively to a strong and responsible democracy.

Parents’ Orientation Programme Strengthens Student Success at SACAS.

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a Parents’ Orientation Programme on 24 January 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium to strengthen the parent–institution partnership for student success. The programme witnessed the participation of 128 parents.

The session was inaugurated by Dr. S. Ganapathy, Head of the Department, who introduced the faculty members and honoured meritorious students. He explained the department’s best practices, value-added courses, internship opportunities, and placement achievements in reputed companies such as TCS and Sutherland. He also highlighted the importance of discipline, regular attendance, formal dress code, and responsible behaviour on campus.

Parents were informed about attendance rules, internal assessments, leave policies, and the role of internships in career growth. Mr. V. Sivaprakasam emphasized time management and self-discipline, while Dr. M. Suresh clarified attendance requirements. The programme concluded with parent feedback and a vote of thanks, marking a productive and informative session.

Building Mental Resilience: A Holistic Psychology Workshop at SACAS.

The Department of Psychology, S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a one-day workshop titled “Building Mental Resilience: Digital Detoxification and Psychological Oncology Perspectives” on 19 January 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium. The programme aimed to strengthen mental resilience by addressing modern psychological challenges related to digital dependency and cancer care.

The first session on Psychological Oncology was led by Mr. Surendar Veeraiah, who explained the emotional, cognitive, and social impact of cancer on patients and caregivers. He highlighted the importance of psychological support in coping with fear, anxiety, and stress. Ms. Revathi further discussed therapeutic approaches such as psychoeducation, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and relaxation techniques used in cancer care.

The second session on Digital Detoxification, handled by Ms. Subashree, focused on the effects of excessive digital use on mental health. She emphasized mindful technology use, digital balance, and practical strategies to improve emotional well-being. The workshop was informative, reflective, and highly beneficial for participants.

SACAS Team Secures Third Place in All India Football Tournament.

The 20th All India Football Tournament was held at Walajah, near Vellore, from 15 January to 17 January. The tournament witnessed strong competition from teams across the country, showcasing talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Our team delivered an excellent performance throughout the tournament and proudly secured third place. The players displayed great determination, discipline, and coordination on the field, earning appreciation from organizers and spectators alike.

As a reward for their achievement, the team received a cash prize of Rs. 30,000. This success reflects the hard work and commitment of the players and support staff. The achievement has brought pride and motivation to the institution and encourages continued excellence in sports activities.

The Department of B.Com Accounting & Finance of S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organized Quantum Quasar 3.0, a two-day inter-collegiate academic and cultural fest, on 8 and 9 January 2026. The event was conducted jointly with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS’ians Fin-tech Club. Designed to enhance students’ technical, analytical, and professional skills, the programme provided a vibrant platform for innovation, creativity, and competitive learning beyond the classroom.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 550 undergraduate and postgraduate students representing 30 colleges. A total of 32 onstage and offstage events, including quizzes, paper presentations, business plans, cultural performances, and creative competitions, tested students’ knowledge, teamwork, and leadership abilities. The programme was marked by excellent coordination between faculty and student organizers.

DG Vaishnav College emerged as the overall trophy winners, while SRMIST Ramapuram Campus secured the runners-up position.

சிறப்பு விருந்தினராகத் திரைப்படப் பாடலாசிரியர் கவிஞர் சினேகன் கலந்து கொண்டு சிறப்பித்தார். தம்முடைய திரைப்படப் பாடல் அனுபவங்கள், வாழ்க்கை அனுபவங்கள் ஆகியவற்றைப் பற்றி எடுத்துரைத்து அனுபவமே வாழ்க்கையாக முகிழ்க்கிறது என்று குறிப்பிட்டார். தமிழ்த்துறை ஒருங்கிணைத்து நடத்திய இப்பொங்கல் விழாவில் கிராமிய மணம் கமழும் பல்வேறு அரங்குகள், இராட்டினங்கள், பஞ்சு மிட்டாய், சவ்வு மிட்டாய், குதிரை வண்டி, உறியடி என ஒரு கிராமமே எஸ்.ஏ. கல்லூரிக்கு வந்திறங்கியதோ என எண்ணும் அளவுக்குக் கல்லூரி அழகுடன் பரிமளித்தது.

Insightful Guest Lecture on RBI Management and Structure at SACAS.

The Department of Bank Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a Guest Lecture on “RBI – Management and Structure” on 12 January 2026 at TF-13. The programme aimed to strengthen students’ understanding of the structure, functions, and regulatory role of the Reserve Bank of India.

The session was handled by Mrs. Anantha Lakshmi MS, Company Secretary in Practice, who delivered a clear and informative lecture. She explained the organizational structure of the RBI, its management framework, and its key roles in monetary policy, banking regulation, currency management, and financial stability. Special focus was given to RBI’s regulatory functions, financial inclusion initiatives, recent banking reforms, and their practical relevance.

The lecture was highly interactive, with students actively participating and clarifying their doubts related to banking operations and career opportunities. Around 133 students attended the programme.

Overall, the session was academically enriching and helped students connect theoretical concepts with real-world banking practices, making it a meaningful learning experience.
