S.A. Film Academy (SAFA) successfully organized a five-day Advanced Cinematography Workshop from June 22 to 26 at its Chennai campus, offering aspiring filmmakers and media students intensive practical training in professional filmmaking techniques. Participants gained hands-on experience with industry-standard cameras, including RED Komodo, ARRI Alexa, and Sony FX3. The sessions covered indoor and outdoor lighting, lens selection, camera movements using crane, trolley, and gimbal setups, and digital intermediate (DI) colour grading.

The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Thiru. P. Venkatesh Raja, Correspondent, S.A. Institutions. Dr. S. Anbalagan, Principal, emphasized the importance of experiential learning, while Dr. K. S. Prabakar, Director (Admin & CDC), highlighted the role of skill-based training in enhancing employability. Dr. S. H. Sheik Mohammed, Head, Department of Visual Communication, welcomed the gathering.

The sessions were led by Thiru. Narayan Kumar, FTII alumnus and cinematographer, with industry insights shared by cinematographer Mr. G. Mukesh. The workshop was initiated and coordinated by Prof. R.D. Balaji, Director, SAFA. Certificates were distributed to participants during the valedictory ceremony.

The Department of Psychology, S.A. College of Arts & Science, under its initiative Wabi-Sabi, successfully organized “Mind Quest – Unlock Your Inner Potential” on 25th June 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium. The event was designed to help students identify and explore their hidden strengths through a variety of psychology-based games and interactive activities.

Students from various departments enthusiastically participated in the programme. The activities were carefully planned to assess and enhance psychological skills such as memory, attention, problem-solving, decision-making, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and self-awareness.

The primary objective of the event was to provide students with an engaging platform to understand their unique abilities and gain insight into the psychological principles that influence everyday behaviour. Through experiential learning and enjoyable challenges, participants discovered valuable aspects of their cognitive and personal strengths.

The overwhelming response from students reflected the success of the programme. Participants appreciated the opportunity to learn more about themselves in a fun and meaningful way.

Fire Safety Awareness Programme Conducted at SACAS

The PG Department of Commerce (General), in association with the National Service Scheme (NSS), organized a Fire Safety Awareness Programme and Mock Drill on 22 June 2026 at S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS), Thiruverkadu. The programme aimed to educate students on fire prevention, emergency preparedness, evacuation procedures, and the effective use of fire extinguishers.

All first-year students from various departments actively participated in the event. The Fire Safety Team served as resource persons and delivered an informative session on fire hazards, safety measures, and emergency response strategies. Through presentations and videos, students gained valuable insights into preventing fire accidents and maintaining safety in educational institutions and public places.

The highlight of the programme was a practical mock drill, during which students received hands-on training in operating different types of fire extinguishers and learned proper evacuation techniques. The programme enhanced students’ awareness, preparedness, and confidence in responding effectively during emergencies.

The Department of Physical Education of S. A. College of Arts & Science proudly celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day on 22 June 2026 at Avadi Lake Park. The programme was conducted from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students.

The event aimed to promote the importance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle. Students actively took part in various yoga sessions and performed different asanas under proper guidance. The peaceful surroundings of Avadi Lake Park added to the positive and refreshing atmosphere of the programme.

The celebration highlighted the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life to reduce stress and improve overall health. The participants expressed great interest and enthusiasm throughout the session.

The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting healthy eating habits, balanced nutrition, food safety, and positive lifestyle modifications among employees.

The campaign featured awareness sessions, nutrition education activities, interactive discussions, and informative displays emphasizing the importance of healthy food choices, portion control, adequate hydration, and the prevention of lifestyle-related diseases. S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a Faculty Development Program on 18 June 2026 in the Preview Theatre. The program featured Dr. R. Selvakumaran, Academic Director of Vanetra Muthayammal Institutions, as the resource person.

Addressing the faculty members, Dr. Selvakumaran highlighted the importance of attitude, passion, and dedication in the teaching profession. He emphasized that a positive attitude, patience, and an approachable nature are essential qualities of an effective educator. The Rotaract Club and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a Happiness Sharing Programme at Carmel Centre for the Differently abled on 09 June 2026. The initiative aimed to spread happiness and create memorable moments for the special children at the centre.

As part of the program, toys were distributed to the children. The volunteers enthusiastically interacted with them through friendly conversations, games, and engaging activities. The children received the gifts with great excitement, and their cheerful smiles made the occasion truly special.
