SACAS Students Explore Innovation at IIT Madras Open House 2026 On 2nd January 2026, final-year students of the Department of Corporate Secretaryship of S.A College of Arts & Science visited the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Guindy, to attend the Shastra Institute Open House 2026. The visit took place from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and was organized to expose students to advanced technology and research-based learning.

During the visit, students gained valuable insights into emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Machine Learning and Neural Networks, Aerospace and Aeronautical Technology, and Defence Technology. A major attraction was the 360° Bridge Ship Simulator, which demonstrated the techniques used in controlling cruise ships and battleships.

The students were also introduced to various departments, research centres, laboratories, and modern facilities at IIT Madras. This helped them understand the importance of interdisciplinary learning and real-world technological applications. Overall, the visit was highly informative and inspiring. A total of 55 students actively participated and benefited from this educational exposure.

SACAS Athlete Wins Bronze at Inter-Zone Athletic Meet

S.A. College of Arts & Science added another feather to its cap as D. Jothi Lakshmi, a women’s long-distance athlete from III B.Com (General), won the bronze medal in the women’s half marathon (21 km). She achieved this feat at the Dr. Sir A. L. Mudaliar Golden Jubilee Commemoration and University of Madras Inter-Zone Athletic Meet, held on 24 December 2025 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

Competing against strong athletes from various zones, Jothi Lakshmi displayed exceptional endurance, determination, and discipline to secure the third position in the prestigious event. Her achievement reflects her consistent training and commitment to excellence in athletics.

The Department of Physical Education and Sports, along with the college management, congratulated her on this remarkable accomplishment and appreciated her for bringing pride to the institution. The college community extended best wishes for her future sporting endeavours and continued success at higher levels of competition.

SACAS RRC Students Celebrate Christmas with Orphanage Children

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC), in association with the PG Department of Commerce (General), S.A. College of Arts & Science, organised a meaningful Christmas outreach visit to Dazzling Stone Orphanage. The visit witnessed the active participation of 55 students from various departments, accompanied by two faculty members.

The team departed from the SACAS campus at 9:10 a.m. and reached the orphanage with enthusiasm and festive spirit. As part of the celebration, students distributed essential items including chocolates, biscuits, clothes, diaries, notebooks, and other useful materials to the children. They also spent quality time engaging the children in fun activities and games, creating a joyful and memorable Christmas experience.

The visit helped students cultivate values of social responsibility, compassion, and teamwork through direct community engagement. The group returned safely to the campus at 1:00 p.m., carrying cherished memories and a deep sense of fulfillment.

Overall, the initiative was a successful and enriching experience for both the students and the children.

The programme featured melodious Christmas carols that filled the venue with warmth and cheer, along with interactive activities that engaged participants and reflected the true spirit of the season. Through the celebrations, Rotaract Club members emphasised values such as sharing, compassion, unity, and social responsibility, reminding students of the broader social significance of Christmas.

The School of Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science organised an expert lecture titled “Career in Logistics” on December 24, 2025, at the SACAS Theatre. The session was held from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and witnessed active participation from management students.

The seminar was led by Vijayrao Ganpati Sharbidre, Managing Director of VJ’S Express, along with a team of six professionals. The speakers provided an in-depth overview of the logistics industry, highlighting its rapid expansion driven by initiatives such as Make in India, growth in e-commerce, green logistics, and digital transformation.

They discussed global career prospects in logistics hubs like Singapore and Dubai and stressed the importance of professional qualifications, technical tools, and soft skills. The interactive session encouraged students to pursue internships and industry exposure, inspiring them to view logistics as a promising and evolving career path.

Guest Lecture on ACCA Highlights Global Career Pathways at SACAS 

The Department of Bank Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science, successfully organised a guest lecture titled “Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) – A Way to Professional Development” on 24 December 2025 at the Thiruverkadu campus, Chennai.

The session was delivered by Mr. K. Balaji, Global Certification Expert at Imarticus Learning, who provided an in-depth overview of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants qualification. He explained its global recognition, curriculum structure, skill orientation, and wide-ranging career opportunities in accounting, finance, auditing, and strategic management.

The lecture highlighted the importance of aligning academic learning with industry expectations and pursuing international certifications for professional growth. Students actively participated in the interactive discussion and gained clarity on global career pathways and professional development strategies.

The programme successfully strengthened academia–industry linkage and enriched students’ career planning, confidence, and readiness to meet global professional standards.

The Department of Psychology, S.A. College of Arts & Science, through its forum WABI-SABI, successfully organized a field visit to the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University on 19th December 2025.   

 The visit provided students with an opportunity to gain practical exposure and experiential learning beyond the classroom setting, thereby enriching their academic understanding through real-world observation.

During the visit, students were introduced to the significance of physical education and sports in promoting mental health and overall well-being. The interactions and guided observations helped students understand the interrelationship between physical activity and psychological functioning, including emotional regulation, motivation, concentration, and mental resilience.

Special emphasis was given to the concepts of sports psychology and sports sociology, where students learned about the practical application of psychological principles in enhancing athletic performance. Students gained insights into techniques such as goal-setting, mental imagery, confidence-building, performance anxiety management, and adherence to exercise routines for mental fitness. The role of sports psychologists in supporting athletes’ psychological preparation, recovery, and sustained performance was also highlighted.

The visit further exposed students to various academic departments, training facilities, and laboratories, enabling them to understand the interdisciplinary and holistic approach adopted in sports education.

Overall, the field visit was informative and engaging, helping students bridge theoretical knowledge with practical experience and fostering a comprehensive understanding of health, psychology, and performance enhancement.

The Department of English organised the sixth meeting of The Bookmark, the Readers’ Club, in association with the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) on 24 December 2025 at the Digital Library of S. A. College of Arts & Science. The programme focused on strengthening reading habits, enhancing literary appreciation, and developing critical thinking skills among students.

The session featured brief presentations on selected literary works rooted in Indian Knowledge Systems, reflecting India’s rich intellectual, cultural, and philosophical traditions. Participants discussed themes, characters, and perspectives from diverse genres, followed by interactive open discussions that encouraged critical engagement and interpretative thinking.

The meeting also provided a platform for faculty and students to share their reading experiences, fostering a vibrant culture of dialogue and collaborative learning. The discussions enabled participants to draw connections between texts and contemporary contexts.

The programme aligned with SDG 4: Quality Education, promoting inclusive and lifelong learning through literary engagement. The session was well received and effectively reinforced the Readers’ Club’s mission of nurturing a sustained interest in reading and reflective literary analysis.

தமிழ்நாடு இயல் இசை நாடக மன்றத்தின் கலைப் பண்பாட்டு இயக்கம் மற்றும் எஸ்.ஏ. கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியும் இணைந்து முத்தமிழ் முகாம் நிகழ்ச்சியை டிசம்பர் 24, 2025 அன்று காலை 10 மணிக்குக் கல்லூரிக் கலையரங்கில் நடத்திய து. முத்தமிழின் மாண்பினை இளைஞர்களுக்கு எடுத்துரைக்கும் வண்ணம் இந்நிகழ்ச்சி நடைபெற்றது.
கல்லூரி முதல்வர் முனைவர் மாலதி செல்வக்குமார் வரவேற்புரை நிகழ்த்தினார். கல்லூரித் தாளாளர் திரு. ப. வெங்கடேஷ் ராஜா தலைமை தாங்கினார். இயக்குநர் முனைவர் சாய் சத்யவதி முன்னிலை உரை நிகழ்த்தினார். இயல் தமிழ் என்ற தலைப்பில் தமிழ்நாடு அரசு மருத்துவப் பணிகள் இயக்ககம் (பணிநிறைவு) டாக்டர் செய. ராசமூர்த்தி அவர்கள் தமிழ் மொழியின் சிறப்பியல்புகளை தமிழ் இலக்கியங்களின்வழி எடுத்துரைத்தார். இசைத்தமிழ் என்ற தலைப்பில் திரைப்பட இசை அமைப்பாளர் கலைமாமணி தாயன்பன் அவர்கள் தமிழ் இலக்கியங்களில் காணலாகும் இசைத்தமிழ்க் கூறுகளையும், திரை இசைப் பாடல்களையும் பற்றிக் குறிப்பிட்டார். நாடகத் தமிழ் என்ற தலைப்பில் திரைப்படப் பாடல் ஆசிரியர் கலைமாமணி கவிஞர் நெல்லை ஜெயந்தா அவர்கள் நாடகத் தமிழின் தோற்றம் வளர்ச்சி பற்றி உரை நிகழ்த்தினார்.
தமிழ்த்துறைத் தலைவர் திரு மா. விஜயகுமார் நன்றி உரை வழங்கினார். முனைவர் ஈ. இசக்கியம்மாளின் தொகுப்புரையுடன் திரு மா. விஜயகுமார், திருமதி அ. விஜயலட்சுமி மற்றும் திரு. க. வீரராகவன் ஆகியோர் நிகழ்ச்சியை மிகச்சிறப்பாக ஒருங்கிணைத்தனர்.
