The Department of Accounting & Finance, S.A. College of Arts & Science, successfully organised FINVISION 2K26 – HACKATHON 2.0, an exciting Inter-School Event aimed at nurturing innovation, creativity, financial awareness, sustainability, and entrepreneurial thinking among young minds.
Held on 6 October 2026 at the SACAS Campus, the event brought together enthusiastic students from Standards 9 to 12, providing them with an engaging platform to explore real-world challenges and transform their ideas into meaningful solutions.
The Hackathon featured six exciting challenges: Eco Biz Challenge, Budget for the Planet, Green Shark Tank, Circular Economy Design Challenge, Financial Literacy Escape Room, and Sustainable Product Expo. The participants showcased remarkable creativity, innovative thinking, and enthusiasm throughout the event.
FINVISION 2K26 served as a vibrant platform for students to innovate, compete, collaborate, and learn, making it a memorable celebration of young talent and entrepreneurship.

The Department of Visual Communication, S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS), in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organised a one-day Workshop on Audio Production on 5 October 2026 at the SACAS Theatre. The workshop aimed to provide students with practical exposure to audio production techniques and enhance their technical and creative skills in sound production.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Principal Dr. S. Anbalagan, and Placement Director & CDC Admin Dr. K. S. Prabakar. The sessions were handled by Mr. Arul Prince Raj A.R.R., Assistant Professor, and Mr. Noah Ruban Immanuel D., Sound Engineer, Department of Visual Communication, SACAS.
Students from various colleges actively participated in the workshop and gained practical insights into professional audio practices and their applications in filmmaking, television and digital media. Mr. Palani S, Assistant Professor and Convenor, coordinated the programme.

The Department of Psychology, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organised a Mental Health Awareness Initiative at Besant Nagar Beach, Chennai, on 5 October 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The initiative aimed to promote mental health awareness through meaningful interactions with the public in a relaxed and familiar environment.
Students engaged the public through 7–10 interactive groups, involving people from diverse age groups and backgrounds. Discussions focused on mental well-being, emotional health, stress management, coping strategies, stigma, self-care, and the importance of seeking psychological support.
A key takeaway from the interaction was the need to understand mental health as more than the absence of psychological disorders. The initiative highlighted the positive role of healthy environments, social connections, recreation, and emotional support in promoting well-being.
The programme also encouraged participants to recognise early signs of distress, overcome stigma, and seek appropriate professional help when required.

The School of Commerce, S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organised QUANTUM QUASAR 4.0, a grand inter-collegiate event that provided students with a vibrant platform to showcase their talent, creativity, innovation, and competitive spirit.
The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with participation from around 50 colleges and nearly 1,000 students. A total of 30 events were conducted, featuring a diverse range of competitions that challenged students’ knowledge, creativity, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and individual talents.
The enthusiastic participation and spirit of healthy competition made the event lively and memorable. Students displayed remarkable confidence, teamwork, and creativity throughout the competitions.
Vel Tech University emerged as the Overall Winner, while St. Joseph’s College secured the Overall Runner-Up position.
QUANTUM QUASAR 4.0 successfully brought together students from different institutions to interact, compete, learn, and celebrate their talents. The event concluded on a high note, leaving participants with valuable experiences, cherished memories, and a renewed spirit of participation and excellence.

The Corporate Governance Professionals’ Association, under the aegis of the Department of Corporate Secretaryship, S. A. College of Arts & Science organized the 20th Student Knowledge Transformation Study Circle on “AI Productivity Tools for Students” on 30 September 2026. More than 180 students participated enthusiastically in the programme.
The session was presented by S. Tanavram and R. Bhuvaneshwaran, I Year Students, who introduced students to the concept, applications, benefits, and limitations of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The presenters explored five categories of AI tools and highlighted their relevance to academic learning, examination preparation, and daily activities.
Emphasizing the message “Don’t let AI master you,” the session focused on responsible AI usage, data privacy, accuracy, and independent thinking. Students were cautioned against overreliance on AI and encouraged to verify AI-generated information. The programme concluded with the thought-provoking message, “The goal isn’t to let AI do your thinking, but to give you more time.”

S.A. College of Arts & Science proudly celebrates the achievement of its Women’s Badminton Team, which secured the Runner-Up position at the IIT Madras Tournament held on 1 October 2026. The tournament witnessed the participation of 32 teams, with the finals being contested between Madras Christian College and S. A. College of Arts & Science. The SACAS team displayed exceptional skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. The players received systematic training and continuous guidance from the Department of Physical Education, contributing significantly to their success. Dr. S. Anbalagan, Principal, and Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Correspondent, appreciated the players and the Department of Physical Education for their commendable performance and bringing laurels to the institution.

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) and the PG Department of Commerce (General), in association with the Women Empowerment Cell of S. A. College of Arts & Science, organised a Menstrual Awareness and Hygiene Programme on 29 September 2026 at 12:30 p.m. at the SACAS Auditorium.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about menstrual health, personal hygiene, well-being, and the importance of addressing myths and misconceptions related to menstruation. Dr. Gayathri, MBBS, MS OG, MRCOG, served as the Resource Person and provided students with valuable insights into menstrual health and hygiene.
The session highlighted healthy hygiene practices, menstrual well-being, and the importance of approaching menstrual health with knowledge and confidence. It also encouraged students to develop an open and informed understanding of menstruation.

The Department of Computer Applications, in association with the Research and Development Cell, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organised the International Conference on Multidisciplinary Sustainability, Engineering & Education (ICMSEE’26) on 30 September 2026. The conference provided a platform for academicians, researchers, industry experts, and students to exchange ideas and explore emerging trends in sustainability, engineering, and education.
The resource persons were Dr. K. Aruna, Dean, School of Commerce, Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, Avadi, Chennai, and Dr. Arul Mary Rexy V, Professor and Head, Department of Commerce General, SIMATS University, Chennai. The conference commenced with a formal inaugural session, followed by keynote addresses.
The sessions were conducted in online and offline modes, with 274 participants registered and 66 research papers presented. Technical sessions covered sustainability, engineering innovations, educational transformation, and interdisciplinary research.
Best Paper Awards were presented for each track, along with presentation certificates for all participants. The conference concluded successfully as a meaningful platform for research, innovation, academic exchange, and sustainable development.

College of Arts & Science, in association with MMA, organized a workshop on “Corporate Grooming and Business Etiquette” on 30 October 2026 from 1.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. at LC3. The workshop aimed to equip students with essential grooming skills and professional etiquette required for a successful corporate career.
Ms. Ruxana Shariff, Makeup Trainer, Naturals, served as the Resource Person and conducted an engaging and informative session for the students. She highlighted the importance of personal grooming, professional appearance, appropriate workplace behaviour, and maintaining confidence in corporate environments. The session also provided students with practical insights into presenting themselves effectively during interviews, meetings, and other professional interactions.
The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, who benefited from the practical guidance and professional tips shared during the session. The programme served as a valuable initiative in enhancing students’ employability skills and preparing them to confidently navigate the corporate workplace.
