The Department of Bachelor of Computer Applications, S.A. College of Arts & Science, inaugurated the Skill Elevation Club on 7 July 2026 at the college auditorium, followed by a guest lecture on "Corporate Expectations from Freshers." The programme was inaugurated by Ms. Asha Hariharan, Business Growth Strategist at TVS Next, Chennai. The event began with the Tamil Thai Vazhthu and a welcome address by Dr. K. Jamberi, Head of the Department. Newly elected student office bearers received badges and pledged to lead the club with dedication. In her address, Ms. Asha Hariharan highlighted the importance of communication, technical skills, teamwork, adaptability, professionalism, and continuous learning for career success. She also shared practical tips on resume writing, interviews, and career planning while encouraging students to participate in workshops, certifications, and hackathons. The interactive session inspired students to enhance their skills and prepare confidently for successful careers in the IT industry.

The Department of Home Science – Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics of S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organized a workshop on “Beyond Basics: Advanced Approaches in Nutrition Assessment” on 24 June 2026. The session was led by Dr. T. H. Hema, Assistant Professor, Department of Clinical Nutrition, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research, Porur.
The workshop provided students with valuable insights into advanced nutrition assessment techniques, with a special focus on anthropometric assessment. Dr. Hema explained accurate measurement methods and their role in evaluating the nutritional status of adults, children, bedridden patients, and individuals with liver, cardiac, and renal disorders. Case studies and interactive discussions helped students understand the practical applications of these concepts.
An OSNE based activity was conducted to reinforce learning. Nineteen stations featuring nutrition assessment tasks and questions allowed students to apply their knowledge in a hands-on setting. The workshop was highly informative and strengthened students’ practical skills in nutrition assessment.

The Career Development Cell of SACAS organized a Government Exam Awareness Session for second-year students on 6.7.2026 to help them explore career opportunities in the public sector. The resource person provided detailed information on various competitive examinations, including RRB, TRB, and other government recruitment exams. Students were introduced to the exam pattern, syllabus, eligibility criteria, selection process, and job opportunities available while pursuing their degree. The session also highlighted current vacancy trends, appointment procedures, and effective preparation strategies. The interactive programme motivated students to begin their preparation early and make informed career decisions, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to pursue government careers successfully.

SACAS Hosts Men's Tennis Tournament
The Department of Physical Education of S.A. College of Arts & Science, Thiruverkadu, successfully conducted the Men's Tennis Tournament on campus today. The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 20 players representing various districts across Tamil Nadu, making the event both competitive and vibrant.
The tournament was organised under the guidance of Dr. A. Ramakrishnan, Director of Physical Education (DPE), with the support of Mr. R. Hari Babu, Assistant Directors of Physical Education (ADPE). The event was conducted smoothly, providing participants with an excellent platform to demonstrate their technical skills, sportsmanship, and competitive spirit.
After a series of closely contested matches, S.R. Abishek Raja of Thirunelveli emerged as the champion, while R. Selvam of Chennai secured the runner-up position. The tournament concluded with the prize distribution ceremony, appreciating the outstanding performances of the players and reaffirming the college's commitment to promoting excellence in sports.

The Department of Bank Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized the inauguration of its Department Logo and a guest lecture titled "Unlocking Potential: The Power of Life Skills" on 6 July 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium. The newly unveiled logo symbolizes the department's vision, values, and commitment to academic excellence and student development. A total of 21 students were also appointed as office bearers and received badges from the dignitaries, marking the beginning of their leadership journey. The guest lecture was delivered by Mrs. Ann Hepzibah Niraja, Educator and Student Development Facilitator, who highlighted the importance of communication, leadership, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and problem-solving for personal and professional success. Through practical examples, she encouraged students to build confidence, embrace challenges, and become lifelong learners. Around 130 students and faculty members participated enthusiastically, making the programme an inspiring and memorable experience that reflected the department's commitment to nurturing future-ready professionals.

The Department of Mathematics, S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS), in association with the Career Development Cell (CDC) and IQAC, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nanyang Institute of Management (NIM), Singapore, on 2 July 2026 at the college campus. The initiative was taken under the guidance and support of Thiru P. Venkatesh Raja, Correspondent, reflecting the institution's commitment to strengthening global academic partnerships. Dr. S. Anbalagan, Principal, introduced the chief guests, while Dr. K. S. Prabakar, Director – CDC & Admin, delivered the special address. The MoU aims to promote academic and research collaboration through faculty and student exchange, learning opportunities, and the sharing of academic resources. Sports Orientation Inspires Future Champions at SACAS
The Department of Physical Education, S.A. College of Arts & Science, successfully organized a Sports Orientation Programme for Sports Quota students. The programme aimed to motivate students, boost their confidence, and help them recognize their potential to excel in sports.
The chief guest, Mr. Ashwin, Basketball Player, inspired students with his motivational speech. He emphasized the importance of discipline, dedication, teamwork, perseverance, and self-belief in achieving success. He also encouraged students to work hard, stay focused on their goals, and make the best use of the opportunities provided by the institution.
The programme motivated students to proudly represent the college in intercollegiate, university, and national-level competitions. It was organized under the guidance of Dr. A. The Department of Psychology, S.A. College of Arts and Science, successfully organized a meaningful field visit to Sevalaya NGO, Kasuva Village on 27 June 2026.
A total of 56 students along with 4 faculty members actively participated in this enriching experience.
During the visit, students attended an insightful orientation session by professional counselors and gained a deeper understanding of the psychological challenges faced by both students and the elderly in the community.
The session helped bridge the gap between theory and practice by enhancing students knowledge of mental health, counseling approaches, and real world social dynamics.
It was a valuable experiential learning opportunity beyond the classroom.

The Department of Mathematics of S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the Mathelets Club, celebrated National Statistics Day on 29 June 2026. The programme commenced with a welcome address and an introduction of the chief guest by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of the Department of Mathematics. The resource person, Prof. Sukumar Kumar, Founder of Kumar Mangalam Solutions, educator, and motivational speaker, delivered an inspiring session on the significance of Mathematics in competitive examinations such as IIT-JAM, CSIR, IISER, TIFR, IISC, and NISER. He encouraged students to prepare for national-level competitive examinations after graduation and inspired them to pursue careers in scientific research and contribute to nation-building. The session provided valuable insights, effective preparation strategies, and motivation to excel in higher studies and research. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. S. Radha. The Department of English at S.A. College of Arts & Science conducted the eighth meeting of The Bookmark, its Readers' Club, on 29th June 2026 in the Digital Library. The session aimed to encourage regular reading habits, develop literary appreciation, and strengthen critical thinking among students.
The programme began with a welcome address by the club coordinator, Ms. C. Cherryl Malar. Faculty members shared their personal reading experiences, motivating students to explore books with greater interest. Participants presented reviews of their favourite books and literary works, including White Nights, The Catcher in the Rye, Night of the Scorpion, The Emperor's New Clothes, and folktales.
Each presentation was followed by lively discussions, allowing participants to exchange ideas and deepen their understanding of literature. The meeting was convened by Mr. M. Thanga Kumaran, who also delivered the keynote address. The session was engaging, informative, and successfully promoted a lasting interest in reading.
