The students of S.A. College of Arts & Science brought laurels to the institution by securing Third Place in the University of Madras B-Zone (Men) Chess Tournament, held on 7 August 2026 at J. H. Agarsen College.

The Department of Visual Communication of S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organized “RESONANCE 2.0 – Where Every Voice Inspires”, an exclusive faculty well-being experience on 8 August 2026 at the SACAS Theatre.
The event was envisioned as a vibrant platform to celebrate the spirit, talents and individuality of the faculty members while fostering a sense of connection and well-being within the academic community. With the theme “Where Every Voice Inspires,” Resonance 2.0 highlighted the importance of self-expression, appreciation and togetherness.
The programme created a lively and engaging atmosphere, bringing faculty members together beyond their regular academic responsibilities. Through a blend of entertainment, interaction and celebration, the event provided an opportunity for the faculty to relax, reconnect and share their voices in an encouraging environment.
The beautifully curated ambience, stage presentation and musical elements added to the celebratory spirit of the occasion. The event reflected the creative energy of the Department of Visual Communication and its commitment to creating meaningful experiences for the faculty community.
The enthusiastic participation of the faculty members further enriched the occasion and made Resonance 2.0 a memorable experience.

School of Management held  Investiture Ceremony (MBA) for the Management club "Evolve" on August 7, 2026, Mr.Karthick Ravichandran, Talent Manager, tesa , graced the event as Chief Guest. The Guest shared his personal experiences and through impactful short stories, inspired the students to develop skills and understand the role of education for a successful life. He highlighted the role of student clubs in holistic development and motivated the new office bearers to strive for excellence and make meaningful contributions to the club and the college community. He commended the club members on their induction and urged them to foster fellowship and take up leadership roles.. Badges were presented to the Presidents, Vice Presidents, Secretaries, of Evolve club which includes Money Matters –Finance club, Talent Hive- HR club, Catalyst-Marketing Club, Connect-Logistics club, Techtonic-Analytics club, Synergy-Cultural Club, Petrichor-Sustainability Club. The student leaders took the oath of office, pledging to perform their duties with sincerity, dedication, and accountability.

Department of Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a community outreach programme on 07 August 2026 at eight Anganwadi Centres.

The Department students visited the Anganwadi centres and conducted nutrition education sessions for nearly 100 beneficiaries, with a special focus on promoting breastfeeding awareness. The sessions highlighted the importance of early initiation of breastfeeding, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, continued breastfeeding along with complementary feeding, maternal nutrition, and appropriate infant and young child feeding practices. Students used informative charts, posters, and interactive discussions to effectively communicate key messages and address common misconceptions related to breastfeeding.

The programme aimed to enhance awareness among mothers and caregivers, encourage optimal breastfeeding practices, and emphasize the vital role of nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life. The outreach initiative successfully reached the community, strengthened health awareness, and reinforced the Department's commitment to promoting maternal and child nutrition through community-based education.

The Department of Home Science – Nutrition, Food Service Management & Dietetics, in association with IQAC, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a guest lecture on "Role of ICDS in Child and Maternal Health" on 30 July 2026. The session was delivered by Ms. Dhanya S., Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), Poonamallee.

The resource person explained the objectives and implementation of the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme and highlighted its role in improving child and maternal health. She discussed the six core services of ICDS, including supplementary nutrition, immunization, health check-ups, referral services, pre-school education, and nutrition and health education. She also explained meal planning, programme administration, and the challenges involved in delivering community-based nutrition services.

Students gained valuable insights into career opportunities in the government sector, particularly for nutrition graduates. The interactive question-and-answer session allowed participants to clarify their doubts and learn about the CDPO examination and public health careers. The programme proved to be highly informative, inspiring students to contribute to community nutrition and public welfare.

The Department of Physical Education, S.A. College of Arts & Science, proudly announced the outstanding achievement of its Men's Chess Team, which secured Third Place in the University of Madras B-Zone Men's Chess Tournament 2026–2027.

The prestigious tournament witnessed the participation of 32 teams from various affiliated colleges, making the competition highly challenging. Demonstrating excellent strategic thinking, teamwork, and determination, the S.A. College team delivered an impressive performance throughout the tournament to secure the third position.

The achievement reflects the students' dedication, consistent practice, and competitive spirit, as well as the continuous support and encouragement provided by the Department of Physical Education and the college management.

The Management, Principal, faculty members, and students congratulated the team on this remarkable success and appreciated their efforts in bringing laurels to the institution. This accomplishment reaffirms S.A. Visual Communication Students Explore South Indian Heritage at DakshinaChitra

The Department of Visual Communication, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized an educational visit to DakshinaChitra Heritage Museum on 1 August 2026 as part of its academic curriculum. A total of 47 students, accompanied by faculty members, participated in the visit.

The programme provided students with an opportunity to explore the rich cultural heritage of South India through traditional houses, museum exhibits, artisan workshops, folk art displays, and craft demonstrations. The visit offered valuable practical exposure to the region's architecture, customs, and artistic traditions.

As part of the learning experience, students captured photographs and videos to develop their skills in visual storytelling, documentary photography, composition, and cultural documentation. The activity also enhanced their observation, creativity, and understanding of heritage conservation through the lens of visual communication.

The educational visit proved to be both informative and inspiring, successfully bridging classroom learning with real-world experience and enriching students' knowledge of culture, media, and visual arts.

The Department of Home Science – Nutrition, Food Service Management & Dietetics, in association with IQAC, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a guest lecture on "Integrating Health and Fitness – Synergistic Role of Fitness and Nutrition in Promoting Lifelong Health" on 4 August 2026. The session was delivered by Dr. Srinivasan, Founder, Robust Physio Care & Strength Training Centre.

Dr. Srinivasan explained the close relationship between nutrition and physical fitness in maintaining lifelong health and preventing lifestyle-related diseases. Using real-life case studies and practical examples, he demonstrated how a balanced diet and regular exercise contribute to better health outcomes. He also highlighted career opportunities for nutrition graduates in the fields of fitness, wellness, and rehabilitation, emphasizing the importance of professional certifications for career growth.

The session included fun physical activities and simple exercises, encouraging active student participation. An interactive question-and-answer session concluded the programme, providing valuable career guidance and inspiring students to adopt a holistic approach to health, fitness, and lifelong learning.

The Entrepreneur Development Cell (ED Cell), in association with IQAC, S.A. College of Arts & Science, inaugurated the Entrepreneurial Awareness Programme 2026–2027 on 4 August 2026 at the College Seminar Hall. The programme aimed to inspire students to embrace innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership while encouraging them to explore entrepreneurship as a rewarding career path.

The event featured Mrs. Saranya Rajendran, Founder of Thinai Organics, who shared her inspiring entrepreneurial journey and highlighted the importance of perseverance, innovation, sustainability, and turning ideas into successful ventures. Ms. Jayashree Ranganathan also addressed the students, emphasizing continuous learning, leadership, adaptability, and professional growth in today's competitive world.

Students from various departments actively participated in the interactive sessions, gaining valuable insights into startup culture, entrepreneurship, and career opportunities. The programme motivated aspiring entrepreneurs to think creatively and develop a solution-oriented mindset.

The inauguration marked the beginning of a series of entrepreneurial initiatives planned for the academic year, reaffirming the institution's commitment to nurturing future entrepreneurs, innovators, and responsible leaders.

The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), S.A. College of Arts & Science, Thiruverkadu, organized a Guest Lecture on "Emerging Trends in Auditing and Corporate Governance" on 05 August 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium. The programme was convened by Dr. P. Karthika, Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance.

The session was led by CA A. S. Deephika, Chartered Accountant, who served as the Resource Person. She delivered an insightful presentation on the evolving landscape of auditing, corporate governance, ethical responsibilities of auditors, digital transformation, and emerging career opportunities in the accounting profession. Through practical examples and real-world case studies, she highlighted the significance of transparency, accountability, and technology in modern auditing practices. The interactive session encouraged active student participation and clarified several industry-related concepts. The programme concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, followed by the Vote of Thanks, leaving participants enriched with valuable professional insights.
