S.A College of Arts & Science Hosts “Melange’25” – A Grand Success On February 14, 2025, the School of Management at S.A College of Arts & Science, in association with Business Standard, successfully organized “Melange’25” – Mela of Management. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 315 students across 29 colleges.
Mr. Bala Vummidi, Vice President & Global Head of HR at SRM Technologies, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The competition featured seven engaging events, including The Strategist, IPL Auction, Adzania, Step It Up, Bulls and Bears Challenge, Pitch Starter, and Thought Rattle, testing students’ analytical, creative, and entrepreneurial skills.
During the valedictory session, certificates were distributed to all participants, while winners and runners received cash prizes. The event provided a platform for budding managers to showcase their talent, network, and gain industry exposure. “Melange’25” was a resounding success, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and holistic development.












Department of Visual Communication One-Day Workshop On "The Art Of Acting" on 13.02.2025
The workshop commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. R. Srinivasan, Head of the Department. He emphasized the importance of acting as an art form and its impact on the entertainment industry. He encouraged students to actively participate and learn from the esteemed resource person. Introduction of the Resource Person: - The Department Director, Mr. R. D. Balaji, introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Shanmuga Raja, a renowned film actor and theatre director. He highlighted Mr. Raja’s contributions to the film and theatre industry, acknowledging his expertise in the field of acting. Art of Acting: This session provided an in-depth understanding of the fundamentals of acting, focusing on various elements essential to performance. Understanding the Fundamentals of Acting: Participants were introduced to the basics of acting, including character development, emotional expression, and stagecraft. The session emphasized how an actor must internalize emotions and effectively portray them to an audience.
Body Language: The importance of non-verbal communication was highlighted. Students learned how gestures, posture, and movement contribute to delivering a powerful performance. Voice Modulation: The session explored voice training techniques, including pitch control, tone variation, and articulation. These skills help actors convey emotions and dialogues convincingly. Stage Presence: Students were taught how to command the stage with confidence and authenticity. This included exercises on movement, positioning, and maintaining audience engagement. Methods and Madness: This segment delved into different acting methodologies, showcasing how actors immerse themselves into roles using various techniques. Method Acting: Inspired by the Stanislavski system, students explored techniques where
actors deeply connect with their characters by drawing from personal experiences and emotions. Improvisation Techniques: The workshop included interactive exercises where students performed impromptu scenes, helping them think on their feet and develop spontaneity in acting. Character Immersion: This involved understanding the psychology of a character, their background, motivations, and behaviors, allowing actors to portray roles with authenticity and depth. Madness in Acting: The session also covered the unpredictable and experimental side of acting, encouraging students to push their creative boundaries and embrace unconventional approaches to performance. The final session was an engaging and insightful discussion where students had the opportunity to interact with Mr. Shanmuga Raja. Key takeaways from the session included: Insights into the Acting Profession: Mr. Raja shared his journey in the film and theatre industry, offering real-world experiences and challenges faced by actors. Industry Challenges: The discussion covered the competitive nature of the industry, the importance of perseverance, and how to overcome rejection and criticism. Career Opportunities: Students learned about different career paths in acting, including theatre, film, television, and digital media. Participants posed questions about character preparation, auditions, and professional growth, receiving valuable advice and mentorship from the resource person. Students from SACAS and other colleges actively participated in the workshop. They posed insightful questions and demonstrated great enthusiasm during interactive sessions. Podcast Coverage: The event was documented through a podcast hosted by Amritha (II B.Sc. Viscom) and Abhishek (I M.Sc. Viscom). They captured key moments and insights shared during the workshop, making it accessible to a broader audience The workshop concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Mrs. Sridevi. She expressed gratitude to the resource person, faculty members, and students for making the session a successful and enriching experience.

The workshop on "Art of Acting" provided an invaluable learning experience for aspiring actors and media students. Mr. Shanmuga Raja’s expertise and engaging delivery enriched the participants' understanding of the nuances of acting. This event aimed to generate excitement and showcase student talent. The performance was well-coordinated, attracting a large audience and creating a vibrant atmosphere. The department sincerely thanks Correspondent Sir, Principal Ma’am, Director Ma’am, and all HODs for their support. The event’s success highlights the importance of practical exposure in media and event management, reinforcing creative learning opportunities for students. We look forward to more such initiatives in the future.

Day 2 :
National Seminar, discussions focused on critical SDGs. Dr. Nazeema A highlighted the importance of gender equality, emphasizing education, equal opportunities, and women’s leadership. Mr. Sendhil Annamalai stressed partnerships for achieving SDGs, advocating for cross-sector collaboration. Dr. Gayathri E discussed quality education, calling for accessible learning and teacher development. Dr. Shobha L addressed decent work and economic growth, focusing on fair labor practices. Dr. J.S. Bhuvaneswaran emphasized the need for universal health care and mental well-being. The seminar reinforced the role of regional language translation in achieving these goals.

National Seminar on Promoting SDGs Through Regional Language Translation Held at S.A. College of Arts & Science On 7th and 8th February 2025 – The School of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science, Chennai, successfully hosted a two-day National Seminar on "Promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Through Regional Language Translation," organized by the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), Ministry of Education, Government of India. The seminar highlighted the crucial role of language in advancing sustainable development.
Experts delved into various SDGs, emphasizing the impact of regional language translation in fostering inclusivity. Key discussions revolved around reducing inequalities, promoting justice, responsible consumption, and the interconnectedness of poverty and hunger. Scholars stressed that linguistic inclusivity enhances accessibility to knowledge and participation, thereby driving sustainable growth.

The Department of Visual Communication at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized an insightful industrial visit on 5th February 2025, to the Indian Express premises, providing students with an in-depth understanding of the print media industry. Around 60 enthusiastic students participated in the visit, gaining valuable exposure to the nuances of publishing and production techniques.
The visit offered a unique opportunity for students to observe the intricacies of news production, including layout design, editing processes, and printing operations. A highlight of the day was an interactive session with the Production Manager, who shared practical insights into the industry and discussed career prospects in the field. Students also seized the chance to exchange contact information for potential internship opportunities, further bridging the gap between academia and the professional world.
This enriching experience left students motivated to explore careers in print media while fostering a deeper appreciation for the efforts behind delivering credible news to readers.

Sudhakaran, Assistant Professor of Psychology & Clinical Psychologist from the Government Institute of Mental Health, Kilpauk, served as the resource person.
The session emphasized the mind-body connection, highlighting how stress, anxiety, chronic illness, and lifestyle choices impact overall well-being. Mr. Sudhakaran elaborated on integrated care models, lifestyle interventions, and mind-body therapies like yoga and meditation.
