SACAS Hosts Inter-Departmental Anti-Drug Awareness Event On 6th February 2025, the Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance), in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club, organized an impactful inter-departmental event aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The event, titled *"Anti-Drugs (DETOX)"*, took place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the SACAS campus.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from students across various departments, who exhibited their talents through a variety of activities designed to educate and engage the audience on the importance of detoxification and staying drug-free. From creative performances to informative presentations, the students showcased a wide range of skills while spreading a powerful message against drug abuse.

The initiative was part of SACAS' ongoing efforts to encourage social responsibility among its student body and to promote healthier lifestyles. With a focus on fostering awareness about the harmful effects of drugs, the event emphasized the importance of making informed choices and the significance of maintaining a drug-free environment.

Students Explore the World of Print Media: Industrial Visit to Indian Express

The Department of Visual Communication at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized an insightful industrial visit on 5th February 2025, to the Indian Express premises, providing students with an in-depth understanding of the print media industry. Around 60 enthusiastic students participated in the visit, gaining valuable exposure to the nuances of publishing and production techniques.

The visit offered a unique opportunity for students to observe the intricacies of news production, including layout design, editing processes, and printing operations. A highlight of the day was an interactive session with the Production Manager, who shared practical insights into the industry and discussed career prospects in the field. Students also seized the chance to exchange contact information for potential internship opportunities, further bridging the gap between academia and the professional world.

This enriching experience left students motivated to explore careers in print media while fostering a deeper appreciation for the efforts behind delivering credible news to readers.

Guest Lecture on Intellectual Property and Innovation at SACAS On February 5, 2025, the Department of B.Com Computer Application at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a guest lecture on "The Role of Intellectual Property in Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Digital Age." The session, led by Dr. Rajasekar, provided insights into patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets, emphasizing how IP protection drives innovation and business growth. Students learned how IP tools secure business concepts, attract investors, and enable market success. The session featured real-world examples and practical applications, enriching students' understanding of intellectual property’s role in digital entrepreneurship.

The Department of English "The Renaissance" at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a guest lecture on February 5, 2025, titled "Mastering LSRW for Academic and IELTS Success." The session was conducted by Lt. Dr. P. Suresh, Assistant Professor, Department of English, DGGD Vaishnav College, Arumbakkam, Chennai. He provided valuable insights into enhancing Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing (LSRW) skills, essential for academic excellence and IELTS preparation. The lecture covered practical techniques to improve communication, structured writing, and confident speaking. Students gained effective strategies to refine their English proficiency, making the session highly beneficial for academic and professional growth.

The Department of Mathematics at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with the Mathelets Club, successfully organized the Mathelets Club Investiture Ceremony & Anti-Drug Awareness Program on February 4, 2025. The event began with a Welcome Address and Annual Report by Dr. G. Ambika, Head of Mathematics. The esteemed speaker, Dr. R. Muthucumaraswamy, Dean (Research) and Professor & Head, Sri Venkateswara Engineering College, delivered an insightful speech on Anti-Drug Awareness and highlighted the applications of Mathematics. He also facilitated the new office bearers of the Mathelets Club with badges and distributed prizes to the winners of the Mathwiz Showdown. The event was graced by the Correspondent, Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director, Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, and Principal, Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to mathematical excellence and social responsibility. SACAS Red Ribbon Club Organizes Cancer Awareness Human Chain On February 4, 2025, the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a human chain formation to raise cancer awareness. Over 60 students, faculty, and volunteers participated, promoting early detection, prevention, and healthy living. The event featured expert talks by oncologists, a pledge ceremony, and creative displays with posters and slogans. Pamphlets on cancer prevention were also distributed. The initiative emphasized social responsibility, solidarity with cancer patients, and long-term commitment to health advocacy, inspiring students to make informed lifestyle choices and support future awareness campaigns.

National Hackathon on Geriatric Care Sparks Innovation and Collaboration at SACAS On February 3, 2025 – The National Hackathon on Geriatric Care through Innovations was successfully organized by the Department of Psychology, S. A. College of Arts & Science at the Auditorium. The event brought together 220 participants from leading institutions such as WCC, Ethiraj, MAHER, RGNIYD, Saveetha, Mahalakshmi, S.A. Engineering, SRM, VIT (Andhra Pradesh), Thevanani College (Villupuram), and Loyola. Additionally, 50 elderly participants actively contributed to the discussions.

The event was graced by esteemed chief guests, including Dr. Republica (RMD Hospitals), Dr. Uma Kalyani (National Institute of Aging), Dr. Shahin Sultana (Pondicherry University), Mr. Santhosh Kumar (Sub-Inspector, Avadi), Dr. Ravi (Professor and Counselling Psychologist), Dr. Suresh (Kasthuruba College for Women), Dr. Udhaya Vani (Dentist, RMD Hospital), Dr. Suresh Sundaram (RGNIYD), Dr. Venkatesh Madhavan (IMH), and Mr. Muthu Krishnan (Help Age India).

The hackathon focused on four key problem statements:

Economic Independence – Empowering the elderly through financial solutions.

Healthcare Accessibility & Affordability – Enhancing medical access for seniors.

Integrated Care Services – Providing seamless geriatric support systems.

Technology & Smart Solutions – Leveraging technology for elderly care.

The event fostered collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and practical solution development. Innovative ideas presented during the hackathon have the potential for real-world implementation.

The National Hackathon on Geriatric Care through Innovations was a resounding success, paving the way for transformative solutions to improve elderly care in India.


Inauguration of Management Club -”EVOLVE” for MBA batch 2024-2026 at SACAS on 03.02.2025

The School of Management inaugurated Management Club ,”EVOLVE” for MBA students.Dr.Prabhakaran, specialist, Non Life Council of Insurance, Ombudsman, Mumbai was the Chief Guest.

Dr. K. Prabaharan began his session by explaining EVOLVE, which stands for Empowerment, Value, Objective, Learning, Versatile, and Every time, Everywhere, Everybody. He emphasized its importance in fostering a dynamic mindset for professional and personal growth. He then discussed Governance, Strategy, and Risk Management, highlighting their role in decision-making, accountability, and mitigating potential challenges in organizations. The session also covered Gemba Kaizen and Gemba Walk, along with the three elements of inefficiency—Mura (unevenness), Muri (overburden), and Heijunka (production leveling). He explained the Hoshin Kanri process, which aligns company goals with actionable objectives, and the Jidoka process, which integrates human intelligence with automation for quality control. Additionally, he stressed the importance of clarity in communication and shared insights on change management, emphasizing adaptability in a constantly evolving business environment.

To keep the session engaging, Dr. Prabaharan used funny videos and PowerPoint presentations, making complex concepts more accessible. His interactive approach encouraged enthusiastic participation, leading to an insightful Q&A session where students asked thought-provoking questions, reflecting their keen interest in the topic. He also took a moment to appreciate the students who designed the logo, recognizing their creativity and contribution. This acknowledgment, along with the engaging discussion, served as an eye-opening experience for students, inspiring them to embrace continuous learning, strategic thinking, and innovation in their future careers.

SACAS Student Development Program Equips Commerce Students for Professional Growth On 31st January 2025, The School of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a Student Development Program (SDP) – Professional Enhancement at the Preview Theatre. The session saw the participation of 130 students from the commerce stream.

The session was led by CMA, CPA G. Kumar, Director & Senior Transformation Catalyst – FINSPIRE Academy, a seasoned professional with 40 years of corporate experience, including 31 years in Oman. He emphasized the importance of professional qualifications like CMA and CPA, soft skills, career planning, and continuous learning for success in the finance industry.

The insightful session motivated students to set career goals and enhance their skills. The Commerce Association expressed gratitude to G. Kumar for his valuable guidance and looks forward to future knowledge-sharing events.

S.A. College of Arts & Science Organizes Education Awareness Programme On 31st January 2025, The School of Management at S.A. College of Arts & Science, in association with UBA and IIC, organized an Education Awareness Programme on National Education Day at the Government School in Kannapalayam Village.

As part of the initiative, students from the School of Management engaged schoolchildren through games and activities to emphasize the importance of education. Additionally, they distributed books and stationery to encourage learning.

The school students enthusiastically participated in the activities, showcasing their talents and winning prizes. The Headmistress of the school appreciated the college students for their efforts in motivating young learners and fostering a positive learning environment.
