SACAS Hosts Insightful Guest Lecture on Data Science for Climate and Sustainability. 

The Department of Computer Science at S.A. College of Arts & Science , in collaboration with ICT Academy and The Nexus Technovate Club, organized a guest lecture titled "Data Science for Climate & Sustainability" on July 8, 2025, at the SACAS Auditorium. The session began at 12:00 PM with a welcome address by Mr. P. Chandrasekar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Applications.

Mr. Kamaleshwaran, CEO of Zenosphere, served as the resource person. He delivered an engaging lecture on how data science tools and machine learning techniques are used to analyze climate patterns and develop sustainable solutions. The session included real-life case studies and insights into the growing role of data in environmental forecasting.

Attended by 256 students and faculty members, the session highlighted the career potential in combining data science with ecological responsibility, inspiring participants to explore this impactful field.


Department of Home Science – Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics, in association with F3 Nutrition Club, organized an industrial visit on 08.07.2025

The Department of Home Science – Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics, in association with F3 Nutrition Club, organized an industrial visit to Tamil Nadu Test House, Vanagaram, on 8.7.25 and 9.7.25. The visit offered students an enriching exposure to real-time food testing processes and laboratory protocols. It provided a clear understanding of food analysis techniques, including various methods used to estimate the nutritive value of food ingredients. Students were introduced to a wide range of sophisticated instruments and equipment used in food testing industries for quality assessment and safety evaluation. The expert interactions deepened their knowledge of food safety standards and the role of laboratory analysis in ensuring food quality. This visit helped bridge academic learning with industrial application, making it a valuable part of their professional training in the field of nutrition and dietetics.

SACAS Hosts Special Screening of Upcoming Tamil Film Varanasi

S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with Birsamunda International Film Awards (BIFA) and the Department of Visual Communication, organized a special two-day screening of the upcoming Tamil film Varanasi on July 3rd and 4th, 2025. Held at the SACAS Preview Theater, the event brought together staff and students from the Visual Communication department and various other academic streams.

Directed by Suresh and edited by Srivatsan, Varanasi is a feel-good drama that captivated the audience with its engaging storytelling and cultural themes. Dr. R. Srinivasan, Head of the Department, welcomed the chief guest, Mr. Yuv Gokul Rangaswamy, film producer and distributor from Generous Entertainments.

The event offered a platform for critical viewing, film appreciation, and interactive discussions, enhancing participants' understanding of contemporary cinema and strengthening the academic–industry connection.

Expert Lecture on “Business as a Process” Enlightens Management Students at SACAS

The School of Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized an expert lecture on “Business as a Process” on July 4, 2025. The session was delivered by Mr. B. Vijay Kumar, Project Manager–IT at BNP Paribas India Solutions.

The lecture focused on helping students understand how a business idea is born and developed. Mr. Vijay Kumar explained the various phases of a business — Ideation, Execution, Development, Evaluation, and Delivery — with real-world examples, making the session both insightful and practical.

He also emphasized the integration of Marketing, Finance, and Human Resource functions in building a successful business model. The session was highly interactive, with enthusiastic student participation and thoughtful questions.

This initiative by the School of Management aimed to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-time industry insights, encouraging students to think critically and creatively about business processes.

Third State Level Inter School T20 Cricket Tournament at SACAS

The Department of Physical Education, S.A. College of Arts & Science, hosted the 3rd State Level Inter School T20 Cricket Tournament 2025-2026 from June 25 to July 4, 2025, with 16 schools participating. The tournament followed a knockout format and was inaugurated by Dr. S. Ganapathy, IQAC - Coordinator and Head of the Corporate Secretaryship department.

The first match was played between SBOA and St. Joseph on June 30 and July 1. The quarterfinals, held on July 2, were inaugurated by Dr. G. Muruganatham, Librarian and Mr. M. Thanga Kumaran, Head of the Department of English. The semifinals took place on July 3.

The 3rd place went to Velammal Vidyalaya Annexure, and AMT Jain Public School secured the 4th place. In the final, Ebenezer Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Korattur emerged champions, with SBOA as runners-up. The prizes were distributed by Dr. S. Ganapathy.

The event was coordinated by Mr. G. Sivamaran and the Physical Education team.

Guest Lecture Highlights Career Opportunities in Cooperative Banking at SACAS

The Department of Commerce (Bank Management) of S.A. College of Arts & Science conducted a guest lecture titled “Youth Awareness & Career Opportunities in the Cooperative Banking Sector” on July 4, 2025, at 12:00 P.M. in the SACAS Auditorium.

The session featured Mr. G. Suresh, Director, NICM, Chennai, and Dr. A. Anuradha, Faculty, NICM, Chennai, as chief guests. They shared professional insights on cooperative banking, its role in the economy, career prospects, essential skills, and recent sector developments.

Around 350 students and 4 faculty members attended the lecture, which aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. The event proved highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and showing keen interest in pursuing careers in the cooperative banking sector.

The Department continues to host such initiatives to empower students with practical knowledge and industry readiness.

SACAS Welcomes Commerce A&F Freshers with a Grand Celebration Chennai, July 4, 2025 — The Department of  Accounting & Finance at S.A. College of Arts & Science hosted Freshers Day 2025 on Friday, 4th July, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the college auditorium.

Jointly organized with the Accounting & Finance Professionals and SACASIAN FIN TECH CLUB, the event warmly welcomed second-year commerce students into their academic journey with enthusiasm and a sense of community.

The Head of the Department opened the event with a motivating speech, highlighting the department’s vision. Professionals and club members addressed the students, sharing valuable insights on career opportunities and the importance of active engagement.

The cultural segment featured vibrant music, dance, and performances by senior students, followed by fun ice-breaker games.

Various student-led clubs were introduced to encourage participation in co-curricular activities.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and refreshments, setting a positive, energetic tone for the new academic year.

Freshers Welcomed with Inspiration and Enthusiasm at S.A. College of Arts & Science Chennai, June 27, 2025 – The S.A. College of Arts & Science welcomed its first-year students with a vibrant and uplifting onboarding programme held at the college auditorium. The morning began on a cultural note with the traditional Tamil Thai Vazhthu, setting a respectful tone for the celebrations ahead.

The event was formally presided over by College Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Secretary Mr. D. Dhasaradhan, along with distinguished guests Dr. S. Aravind, Director, Dr. S. Salivahanan, Advisor of SAEC. Their presence added gravitas to the occasion and underscored the institution’s commitment to nurturing holistic development. Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar welcomed the gathering. 

The ceremony’s highlight was the keynote address by Mr. Charles Godwin, HR Leader at Zoho Corporation, who inspired the audience with his powerful message on success, consistency, creativity, and passion. He urged students to step out of their comfort zones, dream big, and truly love what they do. He praised the college’s leadership and hinted that, with the right mindset, “students cannot escape success.”

Following his address, Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja shared the college’s rich history, emphasising how a foundation built on excellence has grown over time. He encouraged students to actively engage in academic pursuits, club activities, and skill development initiatives, acknowledging that these aspects collectively foster well-rounded personalities.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks and the distribution of refreshments to the freshers, followed by an interactive session with the seniors and teachers. The seamless organisation, led by the college’s student support teams, left the new cohort inspired, confident, and eagerly anticipating their academic journey at S.A. College.

SACAS Commerce - Computer Application Students Form Human Chain for Gender Equality Chennai, July 3, 2025 – In a powerful display of unity and awareness, the Department of Commerce Computer Application at S. A. College of Arts & Science organised a Human Chain for Gender Equality on Thursday morning. Held from 8:15 to 9:30 AM on the college campus road, the event drew enthusiastic participation from students and faculty. The participants formed a long human chain, proudly holding vibrant placards with messages like “Gender Equality = Human Equality” and “Break Stereotypes, Build Respect.”

Short speeches were delivered by faculty and students, emphasising that gender equality benefits the entire society. They highlighted the need to change perceptions rather than women themselves.

The event concluded with a pledge for equality, uniting everyone in the commitment to fairness and mutual respect.

This impactful initiative by SACAS stands as a shining example of how young minds can lead the way towards an inclusive future.
