The recruitment process featured four rigorous rounds, including a Group Discussion, Written Exam, Typing Test, and HR Interview, each designed to evaluate various skill sets like communication, analytical thinking, and adaptability. The event was met with great enthusiasm as students showcased their potential and gained valuable exposure to the corporate selection process. This initiative reaffirms SACAS's commitment to bridging academic learning and professional growth, empowering students to excel in their career journeys.

Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and the Department of Corporate Secretaryship of S.A. College of Arts and Science, in alias with TeachSub Techno Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Australia, organized a workshop titled "Relevance of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to Higher Education Institutions (HEI)" at the SACAS Auditorium. The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into higher education frameworks to address global challenges and foster sustainability by 2030.

The session featured two distinguished speakers. Mr. Henry Maris, CEO of MapSDG, shared insights on aligning institutional strategies with SDG principles. Dr. Mary Angeline, Principal of Nazareth College and NAAC Assessor, emphasized the role of higher education in promoting sustainability, focusing on curriculum development, research innovation, and administrative practices linked to SDGs.

The workshop highlighted institutional initiatives, particularly Goal 3 (Community Health and Well-being) and its sub-goals (3.2.1 and 3.2.2). Practical examples were shared on how higher education institutions can use tools like AI for SDG mapping and implement measurable impact metrics to enhance sustainable practices.

The discussions provided actionable frameworks for institutions to integrate SDGs into their operations, driving innovation and contributing to global sustainability goals. The workshop underscored the need for educational institutions to play a leading role in addressing pressing environmental, social, and economic challenges.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the speakers and organizers. The session reinforced the importance of SDGs in higher education, inspiring institutions to actively align their strategies with global sustainability efforts.

The PG Department of Commerce (General) successfully organized a guest lecture program titled "Constitutional Campus: Navigating Democracy Day" on September 26, 2024, at the SF14. The event aimed to instill a deeper understanding of democracy and its principles among students and faculty while fostering active engagement in democratic practices. The program began with an inspiring Human Rally, showcasing the spirit of unity and democratic values. Following the rally, all participants took a solemn Democracy Pledge, emphasizing their commitment to upholding the principles of democracy in their daily lives. The event was graced by esteemed speakers who shared their expertise and insights on democracy and its relevance in today’s society: Dr. Karthick, Advocate: Delivered an enlightening talk on the legal and constitutional aspects of democracy, focusing on the role of individuals in safeguarding democratic rights. Mr. Nammala Krishna, District Youth Officer: Spoke on the importance of youth participation in democratic processes and how young minds can drive positive change in society. Mrs. A. Meenakshi Sundari, M.A. in Sociology: Highlighted the sociological dimensions of democracy, including inclusivity, diversity, and the role of education in nurturing democratic citizens.

The program concluded with a Speech Competition, where participants eloquently expressed their views on topics related to democracy. The competition saw enthusiastic participation, and the winners were awarded prizes to honor their efforts and insights. The guest lecture program was a resounding success, with active participation from students, faculty, and guests. It provided a platform to explore the significance of democracy and its application in real-life scenarios. The event not only enhanced the knowledge and understanding of democracy but also encouraged attendees to contribute actively towards a more inclusive and democratic society.

our SACAS's top athlete from the University of Madras, Dr. Sir A. L. Mudhaliar, meet double bronze medalist R. R. Shaalu from the 1st MBA, who won the silver medal in the 20 kilometers walk (50 rounds of a 400-meter track) with a time of 2 hours and 5 minutes at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai, during the Dr. Sir A. L. Mudaliar Golden Jubilee Commemoration 56th Athletic Meet 2024.

our SACAS women's top yoga player, PAVITHRA G., 1st BCOM A&F, won the silver medal in the National Level Yogasana Championship 2024 under the women's 15 to 18 age category for 2024-2025 at Sudharsanam Vidyaashram, Poonamallee-Avadi Road, Thiruverkadu, Chennai. SACAS Students Drive Awareness on Rural Development in Adopted Villages On November 23, 2024, students from S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS)—representing NSS, UBA, and SIRD & PR—organized an impactful awareness program during a Gram Sabha meeting in Kannampalayam and Metupalayam, villages adopted by the institution. The event, held from 10 AM to 1 PM, highlighted key government initiatives and empowered villagers to actively participate in rural development.

The program celebrated the contributions of sanitation workers and women self-help groups (SHGs) to community progress. Students educated villagers on disaster preparedness for the northeast monsoon, water quality under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and sustainable waste management practices under the Swachh Bharat Mission. They also promoted the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, encouraging youth to take advantage of skill development and employment opportunities.

The initiative demonstrated SACAS’s commitment to fostering community progress, earning praise from villagers and local leaders for bridging policies with grassroots action.

SACAS and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Host Anti-Drug Awareness Program On November 15, 2024, the Department of B.Com CA of S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS) and Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan jointly organized an anti-drug awareness program to educate students on the dangers of drug abuse. The event featured special guests Ms. Bhuvaneshwari and Ms. Alamelu, police officials from Madhuvillaku Amalakka Pirivu, and Ms. Meenakshi from Nehru Yuva Kendra.

Ms. Bhuvaneshwari opened with an inspiring address on community vigilance, while Ms. Alamelu shared real-life insights, urging students to report suspicious activities. Ms. Meenakshi highlighted youth roles in building a drug-free society. The event concluded with a Q&A session, reinforcing the importance of proactive youth engagement in combating drug abuse.

On November 11, 2024, for the fourth consecutive year, the Department of Accounting and Finance, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting and Finance Professionals and the SACAS’ians Fin. Tech Club, organized an outreach programme at the Institute of Child Health, Egmore. A faculty member and 20 students participated in the visit, where the department made a donation of a steel rack with 18 compartments to the hospital, designed to help organize and store essential items. In addition to this contribution, the students spent time comforting the children, offering emotional support, and reassuring them that they would fulfill one of their wishes when the opportunity arose again. This initiative highlighted the department’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility, providing both practical assistance and emotional encouragement to children facing challenging times.
