One-Day Seminar on Cyber Safety at S.A. College of Arts & Science.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) of S.A. College of Arts & Science, Chennai, in association with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Rotary Club, ICW Radio City, and Federal Bank, organized a one-day seminar on Cyber Safety on 11 December 2025 at 11.00 a.m. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the growing challenges of cyber threats in the digital era.

The seminar featured Ms. Nidhi, Radio City presenter, and Ms. Lini Kesilda, Manager, Federal Bank, as resource persons. They addressed students on topics such as online data protection, digital arrest scams, and various forms of cybercrime, explaining preventive measures through engaging three-dimensional multimedia presentations.

The event began with a welcome address by Mr. Srinivasan, Head of the Department of Visual Communication. Mr. M. Vijayakumar, NSS Coordinator, presented mementos to the guests. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Latha, ICW Coordinator.

Blood Donation Camp at S.A. College Promotes the Spirit of Service.

The National Service Scheme (NSS), Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, and Rotaract Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science, Thiruverkadu, Chennai, jointly organized a Blood Donation Camp in collaboration with Chennai Round Table and Sanjeevan Blood Bank on 10th November 2025 at the college campus.

The camp was graced by Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Correspondent of the College, who encouraged and appreciated the student volunteers. Mr. Ajay Mohan, Chairman of Chennai Round Table, and Mrs. Nandhitha were also present to support the noble cause. Certificates were awarded to all donors in recognition of their contribution.

A total of 63 NSS, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Rotaract, and RRC student volunteers enthusiastically donated blood. The Principal, Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, and Director, Dr. Sayi Satyavathi, congratulated the donors. The camp was efficiently organized by Thiru. M. Vijayakumar (NSS Officer & HoD of Tamil), Dr. R. Srinivasan (UBA Coordinator & HoD of Visual Communication), and Ms. R. Swetha (RRC Coordinator).


Anti-Drug Rally by Thiruvallur Collectorate and S.A. College Rotaract, NSS & UBA Students on 15.09.2025

Anti-Drug Rally by Thiruvallur Collectorate and S.A. College Rotaract, NSS & UBA Students Chennai, September 15: An Anti-Drug Rally was jointly organized by the Thiruvallur Collectorate and S.A. College of Arts & Science, Chennai – 600 077, with the active participation of Rotaract, NSS, and UBA units. Over 250 students enthusiastically marched from the college campus to Kaduvetty village, raising slogans and carrying placards to spread awareness on the dangers of drug abuse.

The rally was inaugurated by Mr. M. Prathap, I.A.S., District Collector of Thiruvallur, along with Mr. S. M. Nasar, Hon’ble Minister of Minorities Welfare, and Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils, and Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Correspondent of SACAS, by showing the flag. Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, Director of SACAS, and Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Principal of SACAS, were also present at the inauguration.

The event received appreciation from the public and underlined the joint responsibility of government, institutions, and youth in building a drug-free society.


Department of Accounting and Finance has conducted a First Aid Training Program held on 18.07.2025

In collaboration with National service scheme (NSS) and Red Ribbon Club (RRC), the Department of Accounting and Finance has conducted a First Aid Training Program held on Friday 18 th July 2025 at SACAS auditorium.

Ms. S. Varshini, Project Officer & Trainer of an established organization, ALERT that has professional know-how on emergency response and first aid education, conducted this session. It was conducted between 9.30 a.m and 11.30 a.m. This training was attended by many aspiring students.

The aim of the program was to establish awareness of simple first aid procedures so that the students acquire skills that would enable them to act confidently when medical situations need their attention. Ms. Varshini addressed the most critical issues about CPR, dealing with cuts and burns, how to react to unconsciousness, choking, and bleed management, conducted an interactive presentation, live demonstrations, and real-life scenarios.

The session stressed on the necessity of being a good citizen and responsive citizen and that immediate and right action may sometimes save lives. The students actively attended the demonstration part and eliminated their confusion on emergency procedure.

Outcome:

The students became more confident dealing with real medical conditions that may arise in life like faints, bleeding, fractures, burn and heart attacks.

எஸ்.ஏ. கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியின் நாட்டு நலப்பணித் திட்டம், உன்னத் பாரத் அபியான் மற்றும் தமிழ்த்துறை ஆகியவை  இணைந்து  நெகிழித் தவிர்ப்பு விழிப்புணர்வு மனிதச் சங்கிலியை ஜூலை 2,  2025 அன்று ஏற்பாடு செய்திருந்தன. 60க்கும் மேற்பட்ட மாணவர்கள் நெகிழித் தவிர்ப்பு விழிப்புணர்வு பற்றிய பதாகைகளை ஏந்தி கல்லூரி நுழைவாயிலில் மனிதச் சங்கிலி அமைத்து மாணவர்களுக்கும், பொதுமக்களுக்கும்  விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்தினர்.‌ நெகிழி இல்லா உலகத்தைப் படைத்து மாசிலாப் பூமியை உருவாக்குவதை நோக்கமாகக் கொண்ட இந்நிகழ்ச்சி  கல்லூரியின் சமூக அர்ப்பணிப்பை எடுத்துக்காட்டுகிறது.

A Women’s Welfare Awareness Seminar was conducted on June 13, 2025, at the Auditorium of S.A. College of Arts & Science. This seminar was jointly organized by the college’s National Service Scheme (NSS) and Madha Medical College and Hospital. The seminar was successfully held with the valuable guidance of the College Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, and Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar.

The special guests for the event were Dr. P. Josephine Rosy, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Madha Medical College and Hospital, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Gnanasekaran, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from ACS Medical College and Hospital, and Dr. P.P. Premalatha, Former Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Tagore Medical College and Hospital. Dr. P. Josephine Rosy spoke about the importance of a nutritious and balanced diet for girls, how to manage food intake properly, and the value of good sleep in maintaining a sound physical health. Following her, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Gnanasekaran gave a speech on problems related to menstruation, how to face menstruation positively, awareness of diseases affecting women, and the importance of HPV vaccine to prevent Cervical cancer. Dr. P.P. Premalatha delivered a speech on mental health for women, how to protect a healthy mind, and the importance of developing positive thoughts.

At the end of the event, the Doctors answered various questions of the students and faculty members, clearing their doubts related to women's health. This event highlighted the college’s strong commitment to women’s welfare.

In commemoration of World Blood Donor Day, S.A. College of Arts & Science, Thiruverkadu, in collaboration with Madha Medical College and Research Institute, successfully organised the Uthiram 2025 blood donation camp on June 13, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event was jointly conducted by the National Service Scheme (NSS) and Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) units of the college. A large number of NSS volunteers and UBA student members enthusiastically participated and donated blood.

The event was held under the guidance of College Correspondent Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Director Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, and Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar. Participation certificates were distributed to all student donors. NSS Coordinator Mr. M. Vijayakumar, along with UBA Coordinators Dr. R. Srinivasan and Mr. S. Deepan, graced the occasion and encouraged the volunteers. The camp served as a meaningful gesture to promote the spirit of social responsibility among students.

World Water Day Gram Sabha Held at Mettupalayam On March 29, 2025, The World Water Day Gram Sabha was successfully conducted at Mettupalayam Community Hall, bringing together students and local residents in a collaborative effort to promote water conservation.

Students from the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and National Service Scheme (NSS) of S.A. College of Arts & Science actively participated alongside village residents to discuss sustainable water management, conservation techniques, and community-driven initiatives. The discussions emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a water-secure future.

Speakers at the event highlighted practical steps for water conservation, including rainwater harvesting, efficient irrigation methods, and reducing water wastage. The Sabha served as a platform to strengthen awareness and commitment towards sustainable water practices.

S.A. College Celebrates World Water Day 2025 with UBA and NSS Chennai, March 20, 2025 – The Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and National Service Scheme (NSS) of S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with the Environmentalist Foundation of India, organized a World Water Day celebration at SACAS Theatre.

The event aimed to raise awareness about water conservation and sustainable practices. Chief guests Mr. B. Deepika, Cluster Coordinator, and Mr. Welkince Clair, Communication Coordinator, emphasized the urgent need to preserve water resources for future generations.

SACAS Red Ribbon Club Organizes Cancer Awareness Human Chain On February 4, 2025, the Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a human chain formation to raise cancer awareness. Over 60 students, faculty, and volunteers participated, promoting early detection, prevention, and healthy living. The event featured expert talks by oncologists, a pledge ceremony, and creative displays with posters and slogans. Pamphlets on cancer prevention were also distributed. The initiative emphasized social responsibility, solidarity with cancer patients, and long-term commitment to health advocacy, inspiring students to make informed lifestyle choices and support future awareness campaigns.
