World Water Day Gram Sabha Held at Mettupalayam On March 29, 2025, The World Water Day Gram Sabha was successfully conducted at Mettupalayam Community Hall, bringing together students and local residents in a collaborative effort to promote water conservation.

Students from the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and National Service Scheme (NSS) of S.A. College of Arts & Science actively participated alongside village residents to discuss sustainable water management, conservation techniques, and community-driven initiatives. The discussions emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring a water-secure future.

Speakers at the event highlighted practical steps for water conservation, including rainwater harvesting, efficient irrigation methods, and reducing water wastage. The Sabha served as a platform to strengthen awareness and commitment towards sustainable water practices.

With enthusiastic participation and valuable insights, the event reinforced the need for community-led actions to safeguard water resources for future generations.

S.A. College of Arts & Science, in collaboration with Bisleri, organized a Clean-Up Drive at Thiruverkadu Municipality for Global Recycling Day. Sixty students from the Rotaract Club, UBA, and NSS, supported by municipality workers, cleaned a 2 km stretch, collecting plastic waste. The initiative aimed to raise awareness about recycling and responsible waste disposal. Volunteers educated residents on plastic pollution, encouraging sustainable habits. The event fostered community participation and environmental responsibility. Despite challenges like excessive waste, the drive was a success, highlighting the power of collective action in promoting a cleaner and greener future.

SACAS Organizes Mega Blood Donation Camp - 'Kurudhikodai 2025' Chennai, March 4, 2025 – The National Service Scheme (NSS), Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, and the Rotary Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a massive blood donation camp titled 'Kurudhikodai 2025' in association with Right Trust Blood Bank at the college auditorium.

With overwhelming participation from students, 102 units of blood were donated, marking a significant contribution towards saving lives. The event saw enthusiastic volunteers stepping forward selflessly to support this noble cause.

The college extends its heartfelt gratitude to Thiru. P. Venkatesh Raja, Correspondent, Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, Director, and Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Principal, for their guidance and encouragement. A special thanks to all department heads, faculty members, and non-teaching staff for their unwavering support in making this event a grand success.

The blood donation camp truly embodied the spirit of service, reinforcing SACAS's commitment to social responsibility.


Red Ribbon Club (RRC) Organises Delicious Duals – Cooking Up for a Difference (Inter-Departmental Cooking Competition for Staff and Students) on 10.01.2025

The event "Delicious Duals - Cooking Up for a Difference" aimed to foster creativity, teamwork, and healthy competition among students and staff through an inter-departmental cooking competition. Alongside the spirit of competition, the event also promoted health awareness and the importance of nutritious eating in the community.

The event commenced at 12:00 PM with an enthusiastic crowd of participants, staff, and students. The Home Science Lab at SACAS was transformed into a lively and vibrant cooking arena. Each team was provided with all necessary ingredients and kitchen facilities to create their chosen dishes.

Participants demonstrated an impressive blend of culinary skills, creativity, and resourcefulness. The atmosphere was filled with the aromas of diverse cuisines, showcasing a range of regional and international dishes. Teams worked collaboratively, incorporating healthy ingredients into their recipes, reflecting the event’s focus on health awareness.

Rotaract club of S.A. College of Arts & Science conduct “Gen Beta”, Club orientation program for Green Rotaracters on 06.01.2025

The Rotaract Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organized its much-anticipated event, GEN BETA - Club Orientation, on January 6, 2025, at the SACAS Preview Theatre. The session aimed to inspire and guide the newly inducted 150 Green Rotaractors about the essence and importance of being part of the Rotaract movement.

The program commenced with a warm welcome to the participants, followed by an insightful introduction to the club's vision and mission. The highlight of the event was an engaging address by the distinguished Guest Speaker, PDRR. Solomon Victor. His session on the "Importance of Rotaract Club" captivated the audience as he eloquently elaborated on how Rotaract serves as a platform for personal growth, leadership development, community service, and fostering global connections.

PDRR. Solomon Victor shared inspiring anecdotes from his journey in Rotaract, emphasizing the value of collaboration and the club's transformative impact on individuals and society. His insights motivated the young Rotaractors to take up responsibilities and actively contribute to both the club and the community.

The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session where participants enthusiastically raised queries, which were addressed with practical advice and encouragement. The energy and enthusiasm in the room underscored the success of the orientation program.

GEN BETA was a remarkable initiative by the Rotaract Club of SACAS, setting a strong foundation for its Green Rotaractors to embark on a journey of service, leadership, and fellowship.

The Rotaract Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a heart-warming Extension Activity, a visit to Anandam Old Age Home, Ambattur, on 28.09.2024. This initiative aimed at spreading joy and connecting with the elderly residents of the home, offering them not just material support but emotional companionship as well.

The event was filled with a range of engaging activities, including dance and singing performances by the club members, which brought smiles and laughter to the faces of the senior residents. A particularly touching moment of the day was the "Memories Sharing" session, where the elderly shared their life stories and experiences, providing everyone with a deep sense of connection across generations. The interaction was uplifting for both the residents and the visitors, fostering a bond of mutual respect and care.

As part of our support, we distributed essential items such as biscuits, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, and rice, ensuring that we contribute to both their emotional and physical well-being. These items were gratefully received by the residents and the staff of the old age home, acknowledging the efforts of the students. Students From Various department brought One hand of rice for the Anandam grandparents. 

This visit wouldn’t have been possible without the kind support and guidance of the Correspondent, The Principal, and the Director of S.A. College of Arts & Science. Their constant encouragement and belief in community service made this event a success.

The experience was immensely rewarding for all participants, instilling a sense of compassion and social responsibility. We look forward to continuing our efforts in contributing to the well-being of the elderly and building stronger bonds within the community.

Rotaract Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science Conducts 4th Installation Ceremony On October 1, 2024, the Rotaract Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science held its 4th installation ceremony, "Ignite," at the SACAS Preview Theatre. Hariharan from Third BCA and Afshan Bhanu from Third BBA were appointed as President and Secretary, respectively, along with 19 board members. The event featured a welcome address, lighting of the Kuthu Vilakku, and presentations, including the previous year's secretarial report. Inspirational speeches by Rotary members emphasized personal development. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Afshan Bhanu and an adjournment by Hariharan, marking a successful start to the new term.

Rotaract Club of S.A College of Arts & Science Sponsored by Rotary Club of Ambattur, RID 3234 Conducted one day beach cleaning" *Wave of Change* " at Marina Beach, Chennai on 21/9/24 between 6 a.m to 9 a.m. 15 Rotary board members along with Faculty coordinator Cleaned the beach by taking all the plastic waste to look Marina Beach clean and beautiful. Students Started Journey at 4:30 a.m.from Campus with Glove, Waste disposal cover and other necessary things. Students from Different departments came together for beach cleaning and it was a surreal experience. 

The Ocean is everything I want to be beautiful, mysterious wild and free let's keep it that way.

Rotaract Club of S.A College of Arts & Science organised Human Chain on International Peace Day between 8:30 a.m.to 9:30 a.m. at SACAS Campus, Main Gate entrance on 20/9/24. 110 students From different departments participated Human Chain formation. Students created Chart work and Cards to spread importance of Peace.

The Onam celebrations at S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized by the Rotaract Club of SACAS, showcased the rich cultural heritage of Kerala through a variety of traditional events.

*Onam Pookalam:*

Each department contributed to the vibrant Onam Pookalam competition by creating intricate and colourful floral designs. The event celebrated creativity and teamwork, with prizes awarded to the most outstanding floral arrangements.

*Onam Sadya:*

Departments presented a delightful array of pre-cooked traditional dishes in the Onam Sadya competition. Prizes were awarded for the best presentations, celebrating the rich culinary traditions of Onam.

*Exposition of Mahabali Chakravarthy:*

The festivities continued with a grand exposition of Mahabali Chakravarthy on the college grounds, bringing the legendary king’s story to life and adding a cultural dimension to the event.

*Drum Ecstasy – Chenda Melam:*

A highlight of the celebrations was the exhilarating Chenda Melam performance, where traditional drummers filled the air with rhythmic beats, creating an electrifying atmosphere and drawing the celebrations to a vibrant close.

The Onam celebration fostered a sense of unity and cultural pride, with prizes awarded for excellence in both the Pookalam and Sadya events. The event successfully brought the spirit of Onam to life within the college.
