Exploring India’s Intellectual Heritage – A Transformative IKS Educational Tour of SACAS to Pondicherry & Thanjavur.

The PG Department of Commerce (General), in association with the Central Library of S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a two-day educational tour on the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) from 13th to 14th February 2025 for Commerce students. The visit covered prominent heritage and research centres including the French Institute of Pondicherry, Brihadeeswarar Temple, Thanjavur Palace Museum, and the Saraswathi Mahal Library, Thanjavur.

The programme was thoughtfully designed to provide academic exposure beyond the classroom and to deepen students’ understanding of India’s intellectual traditions. Students explored rare manuscripts, ancient documentation practices, temple architecture, and historical administrative and economic systems that shaped India’s scholarly heritage.

The tour successfully connected India’s cultural wisdom with modern commerce education, offering a meaningful and enriching learning experience for all participants.

Career Guidance Programme Inspires Commerce Students at SACAS.

The PG Department of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a career guidance programme titled “Career Guidance: A Roadmap to Success” on 06 February 2026. The programme was held at SF 13 from 2.00 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. The session aimed to help students identify suitable career paths and achieve professional success.

Ms. Devi Anand Raj, Proprietor of RPS Academy, served as the resource person. She stressed the importance of goal setting and proper career planning. The speaker explained various career opportunities available in the field of commerce. She also highlighted the need for skill development and continuous learning. Students were encouraged to understand their strengths and interests before choosing a career.

The session provided valuable information about higher education opportunities and professional courses. Practical examples were shared to make the session more effective. The programme was interactive, and students actively asked questions. Overall, the session was informative, motivating, and highly beneficial for students.


Department of Accounting and Finance through its partnership with SACASian Fin Tech Club organized an industrial visit on 06.02.2026

The Department of Accounting and Finance through its partnership with SACASian Fin Tech Club organized an industrial visit to Indian Institute of Technology IIT Madras which provided students with practical experience to improve their academic and business career development.

The visit provided a complete Campus Tour which enabled students to experience one of India’s top educational research institutions. The tour included outside observations of significant structures, which included the Administrative Building, Central Library, Gajendra Circle, Himalaya Mess, and the Stadium  to demonstrate to students the extensive infrastructure and meticulously designed campus space of IIT Madras.

Students received short tours of the Heritage Centre, which displays the institute's historical achievements and operational past, and the Centre for Innovation. Students and faculty members displayed their research work through various startup initiatives and innovative projects that they developed. The visits motivated participants to develop original ideas and pursue their entrepreneurial goals.

The campus tour took about 2 to 2.30 hours because students spent time with guides and coordinators to ask questions while they learned about the academic programs and research activities and campus life at IIT Madras.

OutCome:

The industrial visit brought valuable information to participants who gained practical training through the experience. The students developed new insights, which helped them understand actual business situations, and the case studies motivated them to pursue their studies.

New Badminton and Squash Court Opened at SACAS.

The Department of Physical Education at S.A. College of Arts & Science proudly inaugurated its new Badminton and Squash Court on 5th February 2026. The Badminton Court was inaugurated by Thiru D. Duraiswamy, Chairman, through a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event was attended by several dignitaries including Thiru D. Dhasarathan, Tmt. D. Saraswathi, Dr. S. Aravind, Mr. D. Sabarinath, Mr. P. Venkatesh Raja, Correspondent ,Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Principal and Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, Director.

The Squash Court was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Yuva Day alan, an eminent World Sports Champion. The ceremony also included the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing a positive beginning.

To celebrate the occasion, special showcase matches in Badminton and Squash were organized. These matches displayed the importance of sportsmanship, fitness, and talent among students.

The inauguration of these modern courts marks an important step in improving sports facilities and encouraging students to actively participate in physical activities and develop a strong sporting culture.

VISCOM Department Conducts One-Day Photography Workshop in Association with Canon

The Department of Visual Communication, S.A. College of Arts & Science, successfully conducted a one-day Photography Workshop on 5 February 2026 at the SACAS Theatre and Viscom Labs, in association with Canon. The workshop was handled by Canon trainers Mr. S. Aravind and Mr. V. Veereswaran.

Mr. S. Aravind delivered a detailed lecture on the basics of DSLR cameras and explained the various operations of the latest DSLR cameras. Mr. V. Veereswaran explained videography operations using the latest Canon cameras. The event was conducted successfully, and the students benefited by gaining hands-on experience with the latest cameras.

Thinking Smart: Guest Lecture on Critical Thinking at SASOM.

The MMA Students Chapter of the School of Management, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organised a guest lecture on “Critical Thinking” on 04 February 2026 at 10:00 AM in the SACAS Theater. The session aimed to help students understand the value of analytical and logical thinking in academics and professional life.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Sampath Raghav R, Manager at LTIMindtree. He explained that critical thinking involves using logic, reasoning, and evidence to make effective decisions while avoiding assumptions and personal bias. He also shared real-time corporate examples to explain how analytical thinking helps in solving workplace challenges and improving performance.

The session was interactive, and students actively participated by discussing real-life situations and sharing their opinions. The lecture encouraged students to develop a questioning mindset and improve their problem-solving abilities.

The PG Department of Commerce at S.A. College of Arts & Science organised a Knowledge Sharing Session in collaboration with ISSM Business School. The session aimed to enhance students’ academic learning through industry-based knowledge and practical exposure.

The programme was conducted on 04 February 2026, from 02:00 PM to 03:00 PM, at SF-13. It provided an excellent platform for students to connect theoretical concepts with real-world business practices. The session focused on modern management ideas, professional expectations, and emerging business trends.

The session was led by Ms. Sashvika J, MBA, from ISSM Business School, Perungudi. She shared valuable insights from her academic and professional experience. Her interactive teaching style encouraged active student participation. She explained various career opportunities, skill development strategies, and practical applications of management principles.

Students showed great enthusiasm and interacted actively with the speaker. The session created a positive learning environment that promoted confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking.

Empowering Future Entrepreneurs through AI and Industry 4.0 at SACAS

The School of Management ,S.A. College of Arts & Science organised an expert lecture on “AI & Industry 4.0 Tools for Innovators and Entrepreneurs” for the  BBA students  on 03 February 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium. The session aimed to create awareness about modern technologies and their impact on business and entrepreneurship.

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Gopinath, Managing Director of GB Tech Corp, Chennai. He explained the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in today’s business environment. He highlighted that AI supports human decision-making through data analysis, automation, and real-time monitoring. He also explained how Industry 4.0 combines AI, data, and smart technologies to improve efficiency and innovation.

Mr. Gopinath shared practical examples of AI applications in sales, inventory management, human resources, logistics, and marketing. He emphasised continuous learning and adaptability. The session also included an interactive digital quiz. Overall, the lecture inspired students to embrace technology and develop entrepreneurial skills for future success.

Unlocking Personality Through Handwriting: A Fascinating Session on Graphology at SACAS.

The Department of Psychology, in association with Wabi Sabi, S.A College of Arts & Science organized a Guest lecture titled “Introduction to Graphology” on 02 February 2026 at TF01. The session was conducted by Ms. M. Padmavathi, Founder of Parabellum Axis, Performance Architect, Master Graphologist, and Grapho Analytical Therapist.

Ms. Padmavathi explained that handwriting is a strong psychological expression that reflects personality, emotions, and thought patterns. She highlighted how graphology helps individuals understand their subconscious mind and improve self-awareness. The session explored the role of handwriting analysis in career guidance, relationships, health, self-development, and forensic identification.

She also explained macro and micro analysis in graphology, focusing on features such as slant, pressure, size, and letter formations. Through practical examples, students learned how handwriting reveals emotional expression, energy levels, and personality traits.

The session was highly interactive, informative, and engaging. It enhanced students’ understanding of graphology and encouraged them to use handwriting analysis as a valuable tool for personal and professional growth.

Celebrating Team Spirit: State-Level Inter-School Staff Tournament 2026 at SACAS.

The Department of Physical Education at S.A. College of Arts & Science successfully organized a State-Level Inter-School Staff Tournament on 31 January 2026 and 1 February 2026. The event brought together staff members from different schools to participate in exciting sports competitions.

The tournament included several Men’s events such as Cricket, Volleyball, Chess, Table Tennis, and Tug of War. Women participants competed in Throwball, Chess, and Tenkoit. A total of 390 staff members actively took part in the tournament and displayed their talents and skills.

The event created a lively and energetic atmosphere as participants competed with enthusiasm and true sportsmanship. It also provided a wonderful platform for staff members to relax, interact, and build friendly relationships with others. The tournament was filled with fun, teamwork, and memorable moments.

Overall, the event was a grand success and highlighted the importance of physical fitness, unity, and healthy competition among educators.
