Knowledge sharing session by Mr B.Vijay Kumar

The first knowledge-sharing session of the orientation programme on 09/09/2024, was conducted by Mr. Vijayakumar B, IT Project Manager, BNP Paribas.  Mr. Vijayakumar began his session by sharing his personal journey in the IT, offering the participants a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities he encountered along the way. He shared candid stories about his career progression, starting from his early roles as Business Analyst to leading complex projects. This session provided valuable insights into the practical aspects of IT related management skills, with a strong focus on his personal experiences throughout his career.

Knowledge sharing session by Mr. Vinoth

The second session on 9/09/2024 was led by Mr. Vinoth, MD, My Aasthi Dot India. He enlightened the students with his personal experience as an entrepreneur and insisted that students should take interest in starting their own venture for this, they should develop leadership skills and be self- motivated.


Department of Home Science - Food Service Management and Dietetics, along with the F3 Nutrition Club, organized a recipe display competition "Meal Mastery" on 06.09.2024

The Department of Home Science - Food Service Management and Dietetics, along with the F3 Nutrition Club, organized a recipe display competition "Meal Mastery" on 6th September 2024, focusing on *Healthy Lunch Boxes recipes. The event was held in the Food Science Lab, 33 participants from various departments showcased creative, practical lunch boxes filled with wholesome ingredients like whole grains, vegetables, and plant-based proteins. The competition highlighted the importance of well-planned, healthy meals for maintaining energy and well-being, especially in today's fast-paced lifestyle. It successfully demonstrated how small changes in everyday meals can boost overall health.

The School of Management has organised inauguration by Mr.K.Suresh, President & CEO, India Cements Capital Ltd. on 6/09/2024 at 9.00 A.M., at SACAS Auditorium. The Chief Guest, Mr.K.Suresh highlighted on the expectations of the industry, and said that one has to be adaptable, be open minded and possess leadership quality. Mr.Suresh also emphasized the role of education in self-development and the development of the society. The Guest expressed confidence in the students' ability to succeed and encouraged them to think about the broader impact they wish to make in the world.

Teacher's Day and Freshers' Day Celebration Brings Joy and Unity at SACAS

The Department of Visual Communication at S.A. College of Arts & Science hosted a joint celebration of Teacher's Day and Freshers' Day for the 2nd batch of MSc Visual Communication first-year students on Friday, from 11 AM to 2 PM, at the Preview Theatre. The event was filled with vibrant performances, including singing, dancing, and fun games, engaging both students and faculty members. The celebration aimed to give a warm welcome to the new students while also expressing gratitude to the teachers for their unwavering dedication. A highlight of the event was the heartfelt token of love and appreciation presented to the faculty members by the students, acknowledging their hard work and guidance. The interactive atmosphere fostered camaraderie among students and teachers, making the day special and memorable. The program concluded with smiles all around, as the celebration successfully bridged the gap between the new students and the faculty, setting the tone for a year of collaboration and creativity.

On September 5th, 2025, a program called "Empower Yourself & Empower Others" was held at the SACAS Auditorium to help people learn about investing. This event was put together by the Department of Commerce Computer Application and Fin Edu Connect, and was managed by Mr. Shameel Thomas, who is in charge of organizing programs for the group. This happened between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM..

Overview of the Program:

The main goal of the program was to teach people the basics of investing, the value of planning their finances, and how gaining financial knowledge can positively impact their community. Mr. Shameel Thomas stressed the importance of being financially knowledgeable in our rapidly changing economy.

Key Highlights:

Understanding Financial Literacy:

Mr. Thomas started by talking about what financial literacy is and why it's important for both individuals and communities to manage their money well. He pointed out that financial literacy involves more than just handling money; it's also about knowing how money functions in the economy.

Investment Strategies:

During the session, they explored different ways to invest money that fit various financial goals and how much risk someone is willing to take. Mr. Thomas spoke about the advantages and disadvantages of different investment choices like stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and real estate.

Risk Management:

A big part of the program focused on understanding risk and how to handle it well. Mr. Thomas emphasized the importance of not putting all your money in one place and how investing in different types of things can help protect you from risk.

The Role of Technology in Investing:

Mr. Thomas talked about how technology is becoming more important in the world of finance, especially when it comes to investing. He showed the group different online tools and websites that can help people make smart choices about where to put their money.

Empowering Others:

The program concluded with a discussion on how gaining financial knowledge empowers individuals to make better decisions and how they can further empower others by sharing their knowledge. 

Conclusion:

The "Empower Yourself & Empower Others" program did really well. People learned more about why knowing about money matters is important and how to make good choices with their money. Mr. Shameel Thomas shared some great ideas that everyone liked. The program was fun and people asked questions at the end.

The BCom CA Department is excited to launch "Plastic Footprint: A Fresh Beginning for a Sustainable Future." This project aims to teach and motivate our community to cut down on plastic use and embrace eco-friendly habits. We're showing our dedication to a greener tomorrow by pushing for both personal and group efforts to lessen our impact on the environment.

Goals of the Project:

Boost Understanding: Inform students, teachers, and staff about how plastic harms the environment and people's health.

Boost Green Practices: Push for the use of earth-friendly habits, like carrying reusable bags, bottles, and containers, and backing local recycling efforts.

Strengthen the Community: Give people the tools and info to make smart choices that lead to a more sustainable future.

The "Plastic Footprint" project aims to build a culture of sustainability in our area through hands-on workshops, info sessions, and fun activities. By taking small but important steps, we can work together to cut down our plastic use and create a path to a healthier planet.

 Enjoyable and engaging games aimed at helping new students connect with their peers and settle comfortably into their surroundings.

Outcome:

 A chance for students to connect and engage with faculty and fellow members of the department. Neo Fest not only serves as a warm welcome for our new students but also as a platform to reaffirm our dedication to sustainability.

Department of Home Science - Nutrition, Food Service Management and Dietetics and F3 Nutrition Club in association with Nutrition Society of India, organised Guest Lecture on Mindful Eating for a Healthy Lifestyle on 3.9.24 at SACAS Auditorium between 1 to 3 pm.

Our speaker Dr. Gowri Ramesh, Associate Professor, Department of Home Science, Women's Christian College, Convenor - NSI Chennai Chapter, delivered an insightful guest lecture emphasizing the importance of soulful eating . She explained how mindful eating involves paying attention to hunger and fullness cues, eating slowly, and savoring each bite. Dr. Gowri Ramesh highlighted the numerous benefits of this practice, including better digestion, improved nutrient absorption, weight management, and reduced stress. She encouraged the audience to develop a healthier relationship with food, emphasizing that how we eat is as important as what we eat for overall well-being. The lecture was well-received and highly informative.


ED Cell and Department of Commerce (Bank Management) jointly organizes an “ED Orientation Program” celebrating an account of “world Entrepreneurship Day” (Udayamita Diwas) on 03.09.2024

S.A. College of Arts & Science in association with Institutions Innovation Council (IIC), ED Cell and Department of Commerce (Bank Management) jointly organizes an “ED Orientation Program” celebrating an account of “world Entrepreneurship Day” (Udayamita Diwas). This Event took Place in the SACAS Auditorium on September 3rd, 2024, at 10 A.M. The Chief Guest, Ms. L. Karpagavalli, is a well-known professional artist associated with Fevicryl, a brand under Pidilite Industries Ltd. Fevicryl is recognized for its range of art and craft products, including paints and embellishments. As an artist working with Fevicryl, she would likely be involved in creating art using their products, possibly participating in workshops, demonstrations, or exhibitions. Her work would showcase how Fevicryl ‘s materials can be used creatively, often inspiring others in the art and craft community. Further, she is focusing on key elements such as Lipan Art Painting, Kerala Mural Painting and Tanjore on Fabric Jewelry. The aim of this program is to encourage the students to face the challenges of societal problems and how they can be dealt with in an entrepreneurial way. Creating this painting is very useful to enhance concentration, patience, creative skills, memory, systematic work practice etc. In this Session around 300 students & faculty participated and benefited. The academic for the year of 2024-2025, ED Cell, Students coordinators were awarded by Chief Guest, Ms. L. Karpagavalli along with ED Cell SPOC Dr. P. Pandian.

  • Creative Business Skills: How to turn artistic skills into a profitable business. This includes understanding market demand, pricing strategies, and how to build a brand.
  • Product Utilization: Demonstrating how to effectively use Fevicryl products in art projects, which can also help in creating unique, marketable items.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Techniques for promoting artwork and crafts, including leveraging social media, building a portfolio, and networking within the art community.
  • Financial Management: Basics of managing finances for an art business, including budgeting, investment, and expense tracking.
  • Customer Engagement: Strategies for building and maintaining customer relationships, including providing excellent customer service and understanding customer needs.
  • Workshop Planning: How to organize and conduct workshops or classes, which can be a revenue stream for artists.


Faculty Development Program (FDP) featured insightful sessions and a valedictory function - Final day

The final day of the Faculty Development Program (FDP) featured insightful sessions and a valedictory function, led by Mr. M. Sivakumar. The day began with the screening of short films, which were analyzed for their visual storytelling, narrative techniques, and aesthetic elements. Mr. Sivakumar provided an in-depth understanding of the art of cinema, emphasizing the importance of the director's vision and the use of symbolism.

The afternoon transitioned into the valedictory function, where Mr. Sivakumar expressed gratitude to the participants and praised the organizers. Students gave positive feedback, highlighting the comprehensive coverage and practical insights gained during the program. The week concluded with enriched knowledge and a deeper appreciation for film and scriptwriting.
