SASOM Hosts Industry Connect Session on Strategic Marketing for Luxury Brands
The School of Management, in association with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), S.A. College of Arts & Science, organised an Industry Connect Series titled "From Prestige to Profit: Strategic Marketing for Luxury Brands" on 22 July 2026 as an initiative of The Week. The session featured Mr. Dinesh Sabanaikam, Head of Marketing, MG Select, FPL Vehicles, Chennai, as the resource person. He highlighted how luxury brands create and sustain value through exclusivity, heritage, superior quality, emotional branding, and strategic positioning. The session also explored customer relationship management, digital transformation, influencer marketing, experiential branding, sustainability, and premium pricing through real-world case studies. Students actively interacted with the speaker by raising thought-provoking questions on luxury consumer behaviour and emerging marketing trends. The programme effectively bridged the gap between academic learning and industry practice, enriching students' understanding of strategic marketing and preparing them for careers in luxury brand management.

The Department of Corporate Secretaryship, S.A. College of Arts & Science, inaugurated the Corporate Governance Professionals’ Association (2026–27) and organised a Career Awareness Session on the Company Secretary Profession on 22 July 2026 at the SACAS Auditorium. The session was led by Mr. G. Balaji, FCS, CMA, LL.B. (Hons.), Deputy General Manager (Legal & Compliance), ESAB India Limited, Chennai. He explained the importance of the Company Secretary profession, its career opportunities, and the steps to become a qualified CS through the CSEET, Executive, and Professional Programmes. He also highlighted the role of Company Secretaries in ensuring corporate governance, legal compliance, and ethical business practices. The programme included an inspiring alumni interaction, distribution of appointment letters and association badges to office bearers, oath-taking, and certificate distribution for students who excelled in disaster management activities and national-level research publications. The event motivated students to pursue successful careers in corporate governance.

The S. A. School of Management (SASOM), S.A. College of Arts & Science, successfully conducted its Advisory Board Meeting on 18 July 2026 at 10.00 a.m. in the SOM Board Room. The meeting was presided over by Mr. P. Venkateshraja, Correspondent, and Dr. Viji R., Director, School of Management.
The meeting was attended by distinguished Advisory Board members, namely Mr. Gokul Santhanam, Senior Vice President, Mphasis; Mr. Muthu Sathiamurthy, Startup Mentor; Mr. Murali Ravindran, Managing Director & CEO, Konrad Technologies; Dr. M. H. Raja, Founder & CEO, Lead HR Services Pvt. Ltd.; Mr. S. Ganesh, Head of Learning Experience, ASME; Mr. Sivakumar, CEO, Capital Market Services; Mr. S. Jayaraam, DGM – Market Development, Business Standard; Dr. Selva Lakshmi, Professor & Principal, Thiagarajar College; Ms. Sangeetha Bala, Founder & CEO, Think Infinity Technologies; Mr. Vasanth Lakshman, Principal Partner, Urban Money; Mr. Vinai Katariya, Vice President, Barclays; and Mr. B. The programme commenced with the introduction of the Advisory Board members, followed by the welcome address and a presentation by Dr. Viji R. on the action taken based on the recommendations of the previous Advisory Board meeting. Mr. P. Venkateshraja addressed the gathering and emphasized the institution's commitment to academic excellence and industry relevance.
During the interactive session, the Advisory Board members shared valuable suggestions on strengthening industry–institution collaboration, enhancing experiential learning, improving student employability, and aligning the curriculum with emerging industry requirements. The members also assured their continued support through internships, mentorship, guest lectures, live projects, and placement initiatives.
The meeting concluded on a positive note with meaningful deliberations and strategic recommendations that will further strengthen the School of Management's vision of producing industry-ready management professionals and taking the institution to greater heights.

Research and Development Cell, in association with IQAC, Successfully Organized Invited Talk on AI-Powered Scholarly Writing Coordinated by the Research and Development Cell and IQAC, a talk on “Prompt, Polish, Publish: Mastering the AI Workflow for Faster Scholarly Writing” was organized on July 17th, 2026. This was held at the Data Science Lab in S.A. College of Arts & Science, and delivered by Dr. R. Ravi Kumar, an AI Scientist, Academician and Reseacher, and Group Head – Corporate Communications, Sai Green Mobility Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad.
The guest speaker provided an innovative approach to the writing of scholarly articles using AI. The talk was aimed at the limitations of traditional workflows for the writing of academic articles and the integration of AI at the various stages of the publication process. Participants were taught the advanced prompt techniques to draft, AI to edit and enhance the draft, prepare and publish the manuscript.
With the background of his vast experience in the academic, research and corporate sectors, Dr. Ravi Kumar offered practical solutions for AI and the use of research productivity to enhance the integrity and quality of research. This talk also helped to conceptualize the emerging paradigms of AI in research and the role of an institution in creating and nurturing a strong culture of research.
The program ended with an interactive session aimed at addressing the queries of the faculty and research scholars regarding prompt techniques, manuscript preparation, publication processes and AI tools. Each query was answered by Dr. Ravi Kumar using practical examples from his experience in research and editorial work.
The invited talk helped participants understand the Prompt, Polish, Publish framework and empowered them with AI strategies that help advance academic writing, given that the quality of research is not sacrificed. The program is anticipated to improve quality, efficiency, and impact of research publications coming from the institution.

SACAS Launches Cultural Club to Inspire Creativity and Student Well-being.
The Cultural Club of S.A. College of Arts & Science was inaugurated at the college auditorium with the aim of promoting students' mental well-being, reducing stress, and strengthening unity through creative expression. The inaugural programme featured a lively musical performance that filled the auditorium with energy and enthusiasm, creating a joyful atmosphere for everyone present.
The Principal, Dr. S. Anbalagan, delivered the welcome speech and Dr. K. S. Prabakar Director of CDC and Admin. delivered the Special Address. Both highlighted the importance of extracurricular activities in nurturing creativity, confidence, and emotional well-being among students.
Students from various departments enthusiastically participated in the programme by performing their favourite songs, showcasing their musical talents and entertaining the audience. The Fine Arts Club has been established to identify and develop students' artistic abilities while providing a platform for self-expression and collaboration. Students attended the inaugural programme, making it a vibrant and memorable celebration of talent and creativity.

SACAS Students Learn Smart Calculation Techniques Through Vedic Maths Session.
The Corporate Governance Professionals' Association, under the Department of Corporate Secretaryship, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized Student Knowledge Transformation Study Circle #17 on "Vedic Maths – Smart Tricks for Faster Calculations" on 17 July 2026. The session was presented by Ms. Lakshanya C.R. and Mr. Harish G., III Year students, and was attended by 200 students.
The presenters introduced the fundamentals of Vedic Mathematics, explaining how its ancient techniques help simplify calculations through logical mental methods. They demonstrated important Vedic Sutras, including Ekadhikena Purvena, Nikhilam Navatashcaramam Dashatah, Urdhva-Tiryagbhyam, Yavadunam, and Ekanyunena Purvena, with practical examples.
Students actively participated in solving problems involving quick multiplication and squaring techniques, improving their speed, accuracy, and confidence in mental calculations. The interactive session highlighted how regular practice of Vedic Mathematics enhances computational skills, logical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, making mathematics easier, faster, and more enjoyable for learners.

The Department of English, in association with IQAC and the National Digital Library of India (NDLI), inaugurated its Literary Association, "The Renaissance," on 17 July 2026 at the Preview Theatre, S.A. College of Arts & Science. The programme also featured the release of the department's book, Ink & Infinity, and an orientation session titled "Words that Work: The Career Power of an English Degree."
The event was graced by Dr. Ramana Devika, Assistant Professor of English, Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai, as the chief guest. She delivered an inspiring session highlighting the diverse career opportunities available to English graduates and encouraged students to develop strong communication, creativity, and critical thinking skills.
The programme included the formal inauguration of the Literary Association, the book release, and special addresses by the Principal, Directors, and IQAC Coordinator. The event motivated students to pursue literary excellence while preparing for rewarding careers through the study of English.

SACAS Psychology Students Gain Practical Insights at Rehabilitation Centre.
The Department of Psychology, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a field visit for III B.Sc. Psychology students to Mithra Rehabilitation Centre on 16 July 2026. The visit offered students valuable practical exposure to rehabilitation services and strengthened their understanding of holistic mental health care.
During the visit, students learned about the roles of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and other rehabilitation professionals in supporting individuals with special needs. They also gained insights into vocational and life skills training programmes that help children become more independent and improve their quality of life.
Students observed various therapeutic activities and interacted with professionals, enabling them to understand individualized care, rehabilitation techniques, and multidisciplinary teamwork. The experience emphasized the import8uance of empathy, patience, and ethical responsibility while working with special populations.
The field visit successfully bridged the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice, enriching students' knowledge of rehabilitation psychology and preparing them for future professional roles.

The Department of Commerce (Computer Application), in association with IQAC, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized a guest lecture on "Commerce to Corporate Tech: Your Roadmap to Success" on 16 July 2026 at the college auditorium. The session was delivered by Mr. Murali Mani, Lead Software Engineer (SAP), who introduced students to the growing opportunities for commerce graduates in the corporate technology sector.
The speaker explained how technology is transforming modern businesses and highlighted the importance of SAP in enterprise resource planning. He encouraged students to strengthen their technical knowledge, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and adaptability to meet industry expectations. He also shared valuable guidance on placement preparation, interview techniques, career planning, and the importance of earning professional certifications.
The interactive session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, where students clarified their career-related doubts. The programme motivated participants to embrace continuous learning and prepare confidently for successful careers in the corporate technology industry.

The Department of Visual Communication, S.A. College of Arts & Science, organized "Resonance," a faculty well-being programme, on 13 July 2026 at the SACAS Theatre. The programme was conducted to promote mental wellness, relieve stress, and strengthen the bond among faculty members through an engaging musical sing-along session.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Sheik Mohamed S.H., Head, Department of Visual Communication. Special addresses were delivered by Prof. R.D. Balaji, Course Director, and Dr. K.S. Prabakar, Director (Admin & CDC), who highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance and creating a positive academic environment.
Faculty members from various departments actively participated in the interactive session, singing together and enjoying the refreshing experience. The lively atmosphere encouraged relaxation, teamwork, and meaningful interaction among colleagues.
