SACAS Celebrates College Day with Enthusiasm and Honor Chennai, March 1, 2025 – S.A. College of Arts & Science celebrated its College Day with grandeur at the SACAS Auditorium. The event commenced with Thamizh Thai Vazthu and the traditional lighting of the Kuthu Vilakku. Mr. M. Vijay Kumar, Assistant Professor & HOD of Tamil, delivered the welcome address.
The Presidential Address was given by the Chairman, Secretary, and Correspondent of SACAS, followed by the College Annual Report presented by Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Principal. Dr. V. Sayi Satyavathi, Director, introduced the Chief Guest, Kalaimamani Dr. G. GnanaSambandan, a renowned professor, orator, writer, and actor, who delivered an inspiring speech.
The event featured the release of the college magazine, prize distribution, and concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. S. Ganapathy, Asst. Prof. & HOD, Corporate Secretaryship. The celebration ended with the National Anthem, marking a successful and memorable occasion.















Department of Computer Science GUEST LECTURE ON IoT AND ITS APPLICATIONS on 27.02.2025
A guest lecture on “IoT and Its Applications” was organized on 27th February 2025 at SACAS Auditorium. The session was conducted by Mr. B. Abdul Azhar, an AI/ML Engineer from TechKnots Academy LLP. The objective of the lecture was to introduce students to the fundamentals of the Internet of Things (IoT) and its real-world applications.
Mr. Azhar began the session by explaining IoT, its significance, and how it connects devices through the internet to automate processes and improve efficiency. He highlighted how IoT is transforming industries such as healthcare, agriculture, and smart cities.
He then discussed the difference between a controller and a processor, emphasizing that controllers are dedicated to executing specific tasks efficiently, while processors handle more complex computations required for multitasking.
The role of sensors in IoT was another key topic. He explained various types of sensors, such as temperature, motion, and humidity sensors, and how they help in data collection for IoT applications.
Moving forward, Mr. Azhar introduced students to types of microcontrollers, including popular ones like ATmega328 (used in Arduino) and ESP8266 (used in IoT applications). He also discussed the different types of Arduino boards used in IoT, such as Arduino Uno, Mega, and Nano, highlighting their functionalities.
The session concluded with an engaging discussion on building IoT projects using personal ideas and everyday problems. Mr. Azhar encouraged students to identify real-world challenges and develop innovative IoT-based solutions.
The lecture was highly informative, sparking curiosity and enthusiasm among students to explore IoT further. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speaker for sharing his valuable insights.






School of Management organized Finclave 2025 on 25.02.2025
The School of Management organized Finclave 2025 on 25/02/2025 on “AI in the world of Finance” at SACAS Theatre. Mr.Hari Haran, Business Development Manager Guvi Geek Network delivered Inaugural address. This was followed by educative session I on topic Role of AI in Finance. Session II was on topic Beyond spreadsheets: How AI is redefining financial decision making by CA Deepak Kumar Gulecha, Data Analyst and automation specialist. Session III was on Conquering the stock market with AI by Mr.Kishore Mohan, Founder Stock Trader Corps and Session IV was on AI and Robotic Process Automation in Industry 6.0 by CMA Rakesh Shankar Ravi Shankar, Member-Internal Auditing and assurance standards board, The Institute of Cost Accountants of India. Besides students of MBA of our college 62 students from 7 colleges participated in the Finclave’25. In the Valedictory session certificates were issued to participants.

SACAS Hosts HR Conclave 2.0: A Landmark Event in Career Development Chennai, Feb 22, 2025: The Career Development Cell of SA College of Arts & Science (SACAS) successfully organized HR Conclave 2.0 on February 21st & 22nd, 2025. The event, held on campus, brought together 20+ HR professionals and industry leaders from top multinational corporations (MNCs) for an engaging panel discussion.
This conclave marked a significant milestone in SACAS history, providing students with valuable industry insights and career guidance. The discussions were structured into four specialized sessions, catering to various academic disciplines:
Session 1: Visual Communication, English & Management Session 2: Nutrition & Psychology Session 3: Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Session 4: Commerce (all streams)
The event served as a platform for students to interact with experts, understand industry expectations, and enhance their career prospects. Participants gained firsthand knowledge of emerging trends in HR, technology, and business, making the conclave an invaluable learning experience.

University of Madras B-Zone Men Ball Badminton Tournament 2025 on 17.02.2025
University of Madras B-Zone Men Ball Badminton Tournament 2025 Concludes Successfully at SACAS On Feb 17, 2025 – The Department of Physical Education at S.A. College of Arts & Science (SACAS) successfully hosted the University of Madras B-Zone Men Ball Badminton Tournament for the fourth consecutive time on February 17, 2025.
Mr. G. Sivamaran, Director of Physical Education, honored Mr. P. Ramesh, Joint Secretary of the Thiruvallur District Ball Badminton Association, with a shawl and welcomed all participating college officials, coaches, and players.
The tournament featured over 90 students from eight colleges under the University of Madras B-Zone. Nazareth Arts & Science College clinched the championship, with R.M.K. Vivekananda College as the runner-up. SACAS secured third place for the first time, while A.M. Jain College finished fourth.
Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar felicitated the winners with trophies and certificates. The event saw active participation from faculty, students, and staff, fostering a spirit of teamwork and sportsmanship.







SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club, organized inter-collegiate anti-drug awareness campaign Detox on 19.02.2025
The Department of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) at SACAS, in collaboration with the SACAS Association of Accounting & Finance Professionals and the SACAS'ians Fin-Tech Club, organized a remarkable inter-collegiate anti-drug awareness campaign, Detox, on February 19, 2025, at the SACAS campus. A total of nine colleges participated in the event, which aimed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of drug abuse. The campaign highlighted the detrimental impact of substance abuse on both mental and physical health while promoting healthier, drug-free lifestyles among students.
The campaign featured several thought-provoking segments, including expert guest speakers who shared invaluable insights on overcoming addiction. Notable speakers included Dr. A. Venkadesh Babu, IRS Deputy Commissioner; Ms. Preethi Indrani Kitchappan, Actress, Model, and Lawyer; and Mr. Asif Iraiyanban, Chief Minister Social Forum Board Member. These experts, along with specialists in addiction recovery and mental health, offered powerful messages on the importance of mental well-being and the dangers associated with substance abuse.
A variety of engaging events were conducted during Detox to encourage student participation. The street play performance was particularly impactful, as it vividly portrayed the consequences of drug abuse and the importance of prevention. Students also showcased their creativity through poster-making, expressing their thoughts and ideas on how to prevent drug misuse in society.
The Detox event not only successfully raised awareness but also provided valuable resources for combating addiction. It created a supportive environment that encouraged students to stay drug-free, fostering a culture of well-being and positivity on campus. The enthusiasm and energy exhibited throughout the event were a testament to the collective commitment of all those involved.
In an exciting conclusion to the event, the overall trophy was lifted by Apollo College of Arts & Science, securing the highest number of winnings across the different competitions held during Detox. Their outstanding participation and contributions were recognized and celebrated by all attendees.
The Detox event at SACAS was a resounding success, making a significant impact on the fight against drug abuse while promoting a healthy and vibrant campus culture.

Department of Homescience-NFSMD and F3 Nutrition club in association with Nutrition Society of India organised one day international conference on "Sustainable Health Solutions, themed as Bridging Lifestyle, Diet and NCD Management" on 18.2.2025. Experts from various branches of nutrition science enlightened the participants with their informative sessions. Dr. Subbarao M Gavaravarappu,Head,
NICHE division, ICMR-NIN,Hyderabad delivered the keynote address. Dr.Senthil Kumar, Principal Scientist, ICAR, Bangalore gave insights about Sustainable Agricultural Practices for Health. Dr.Raajeshwari, Professor from the Department of Food Science and Nutrition, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education, Coimbatore dealt with the Health impacts of micro plastics and pioneering eco-friendly sustainable solutions. The session on Gut health microbiome and Nutrition was handled by Dr.Ramesh Kannan, Professor, Zhijiang Sci- tech University,Hangzhou-PR China. Dr.Parvathy, Senior Dietitian,Adyar Cancer Institute,Chennai shared her practical knowledge and experience on the topic Antioxidants and Oncology Nutrition. About 250 registrations from students, research scholars and faculty members from various colleges across Chennai, Vellore, Coimbatore, Madurai, Trichy and Bangalore were received.A souvenir about the conference was released. 115 participants presented their poster research papers in the conference and the best were awarded.














Department of Commerce (General), is organizing an awareness session on Kavalan SOS on 18.02.2025
In an effort to raise awareness about personal safety and the role of technology in ensuring security, the Citizen Consumer Club, in association with the P.G. Department of Commerce (General), organized an awareness session focusing on the Kavalan SOS App. The session aimed to equip female students with essential knowledge regarding the usage of the Kavalan SOS app, which is part of the safety initiative launched by the Tamil Nadu Government and the Police.
Details of the Session:
- Introduction to the Kavalan SOS App and its development by the Tamil Nadu Government and Police.
- Step-by-step guide on using the app to raise emergency alarms.
- Features such as location sharing, direct police alerts, and real-time tracking.
- Practical scenarios on when and how to activate the SOS feature.
- Additional safety measures for women, including legal and police support.
The session saw an enthusiastic turnout of female students from the institution. Attendees actively participated in the discussions and demonstrations, expressing their eagerness to incorporate the app into their daily safety practices.The event not only raised awareness about the app but also fostered a sense of security and empowerment among the participants, encouraging them to make use of the technology available to them. The Citizen Consumer Club and P.G. Department of Commerce (General) expressed their commitment to continuing efforts that ensure the safety and well-being of students on campus.

S.A. College Hosts Guest Lecture on Career Guidance in Logistics & Freight Forwarding On Feb 17, 2025, S.A. College of Arts & Science's Department of Commerce (Bank Management), organized a Guest Lecture on Career Guidance in the Logistics & Freight Forwarding Industry. The session, held at 11:00 AM in the SACAS Auditorium, featured expert speaker Mr. Jayachandran Seeman, Vice President of OfficeFrameWork Operation Center Pvt Ltd and Co-Founder of Logwiz Institute of Shipping & Logistics.
Mr. Seeman provided valuable insights into career opportunities, industry trends, and essential skills in logistics and freight forwarding. He emphasized the role of technology, digital transformation, and international trade regulations in supply chain management.
Around 160 students and faculty members participated, gaining a deeper understanding of job roles, certifications, and global logistics strategies. The session empowered students with the knowledge to make informed career choices in this dynamic and growing industry.

S.A. College Hosts Workshop on Website Development On Feb 17, 2025, the Department of Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at S.A. College of Arts & Science organized a Guest Lecture and Hands-on Workshop titled "Have and Build Your Own Website." Held from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 P.M. in the AI Lab, the session was designed to equip B.Sc. Computer Science with AI students with essential website creation and management skills.
Led by Dr. P. Chanthini, the workshop covered website design, development, launch, and maintenance, providing insights into static and dynamic websites. Students gained practical experience in building and managing their own websites while learning about content creation, site management, and digital branding.
The session successfully empowered participants with the confidence and technical expertise needed to establish a strong online presence. It was a valuable initiative in fostering digital literacy and preparing students for future opportunities in the evolving tech landscape.
