International Workshop on Advanced Computing and AI Held at SACAS On December 13, 2024, the Department of Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence at S.A. College of Arts & Science hosted an international workshop titled Leveraging Intel Technologies for Advanced Computing and AI. The event brought together experts and students to delve into cutting-edge advancements in artificial intelligence and computing.
Keynote speaker Akshay Bhuvaneshwari Ramakrishna, Intel Innovator and Research Collaborator at LCICM Hopkins Medicine, shared insights on Intel’s technologies, including the Intel Developer Cloud and oneAPI programming model, which streamline AI development. Participants gained hands-on experience with AI tools and explored their applications in healthcare, finance, and sports.
The workshop also highlighted innovations in generative AI, such as stable diffusion and large language models, showcasing AI's transformative potential across industries.
Grand Screening Birsamunda International Film Awards Grand Screening Event on 13.12.2024
The November month's grand screening of the BIFA Birsamunda International Film Awards was held on 13th December 2024 (Friday) at the SACAS Preview Theatre. The event was a prestigious gathering, graced by leading Indian film technicians, award winners of BIFA, and the enthusiastic participation of the Visual Communication students.
Program Overview
The event commenced at 10:00 AM with an energetic and engaging anchoring session led by Mr. Rehan of I BSc Visual Communication. The session opened with a prayer that set the tone for the day, followed by a warm welcome speech delivered by Mr. Shane of I MSc Visual Communication.
The guests were formally welcomed by Dr. R. Srinivasan, who introduced the significance of BIFA and its role in recognizing and celebrating cinematic excellence. This was followed by a brief and inspiring speech by the guests, who shared their insights on the achievements of BIFA and the impact of films in shaping society.
Film Screenings
The screenings began with an announcement by Mr. Shane, marking the start of an immersive cinematic experience.
Screening 1: Fandry
Duration: 1 hour 41 minutes
Time: 10:05 AM - 12:40 PM
The Marathi film Fandry, known for its raw and poignant depiction of social issues, captivated the audience with its intense narrative and powerful performances. A podcast session followed from 12:40 PM to 1:00 PM, allowing students to reflect on the film’s themes and engage with the guest, Mr. Selvaram, an esteemed film technician. This interactive podcast and interview format provided deeper insights into the creative process and the social impact of cinema.
Screening 2: Heroes of Halyard
Duration: 2 hours 20 minutes
Time: 1:40 PM - 4:00 PM
The second screening, Heroes of Halyard, a compelling war drama, brought historical events to life with stunning visuals and storytelling. The film left the audience inspired and reflective, sparking a post-screening discussion from 4:00 PM to 4:15 PM, where participants explored the cinematic techniques and historical accuracy presented in the film.
Closing Ceremony
The event concluded with a brief closing ceremony from 4:15 PM to 4:30 PM, wrapping up a day filled with learning, inspiration, and celebration of the art of filmmaking.

டிசம்பர் 12, 2024 அன்று எஸ். ஏ. கலை மற்றும் அறிவியல் கல்லூரியில் பாரதியின் பிறந்தநாளிற்கு "மெல்லிய தமிழுக்கு மீசை முளைத்தது" என்ற தலைப்பில் பேராசிரியர் திரு. த. அன்பு (எம்.ஜி.ஆர் நிகர்நிலைப் பல்கலைக்கழகம்) அவர்கள் சிறப்புரை ஆற்றினார். பாரதிக்கும் காந்திக்கும் இருக்கும் உறவையும் அவர் அழகாக எடுத்துக் கூறினார். இந்நிகழ்ச்சியில் தமிழ்த் துறைத் தலைவர் திரு.மா.விஜயகுமார் வரவேற்புரை ஆற்றினார்.மூன்றாமாண்டு வணிகவியல் நிறுமச் செயலாண்மைத் துறையைச் சார்ந்த லித்திகா பாரதியாரின் பாடலைப் பாடி அனைவரையும் மகிழ்வித்தார். இரண்டாமாண்டு கணினிப் பயன்பாட்டியல் துறையைச் சார்ந்த செல்வி.ரக்ஷிதா பாரதியின் பாடலுக்குப் பரதநாட்டியம் ஆடினார். இவ்விழா மாணவர்களின் திறமையையும் வெளிக்காட்ட உதவியது. இந்நிகழ்வு கிருஷ்ணா ஸ்வீட்ஸ் தலைமையில் திருமதி ரேகாமணி அவர்களின் நன்றியுரையுடன் இனிதே நிறைவடைந்தது.
All India University South West Zone Women Weightlifting Championship 2024 on 25.11.2024 to 29.11.2024
Our SACAS's top women weightlifter, University & C.M. Trophy Gold medalist, R.V. Oviya from 1st B.Sc. NFSM&D, has been selected to represent the University of Madras Women Weightlifting team in the 45 kg category. She will participate in the All India University South West Zone Women Weightlifting Championship 2024, which will be held at Acharya Nagarjuna University, New Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, from November 25th to 29th, 2024.
With the blessings of our college's honorable Correspondent Sir, our beloved Director Ma'am, and our beloved Principal Ma'am, I am happy to announce that they have congratulated and honored us by putting a shawl on her and giving us our college T-shirt with lower wear.
